    This move is the only thing that was able to fix my early extension. I struggled with it for years. For me personally, this is the best lesson I’ve ever had. The way Malaska has talked about using the ground has also changed my entire game. I’ve generated a ton more power. Excellent video!

    These two guys are really good. I suffer from what Eric mentioned, in that during the downswing, I tend to move closer to the ball. This has caused me to sometimes shank or heel hit the ball. Use that alignment rod that Eric shows. It really helps. I have to laugh a bit, because my brain does exactly what Mike describes. When it gets too much information about turning, weight shifting, tilt etc. it just stops processing anything. Changes take time and often you have to take a step back to move two steps forward!

    As one of your students at Cogorno Golf, there is one thing in your swing that always stood out to me. That is the way your weight finishes on the outside of your left heel with the inside of the foot off the ground. I started looking at other good golfers and they all do the same. I have tried to do this in my swing but it doesn't feel natural. This golf lesson makes it happen naturally by pushing the left hip back on the follow-through. Thank you!

    Hi, again a game changer for me. I don't remember when I start loosung this hip deapth. Maybe when I made confusion between leg extension (to move back ward) and hip élévation. I love Mike Malaska approach based on simple thing: body mouvement is consequence of force application. I am starting to build my own system on similar way: Boby balance changes are consequences of club movement. Thanks

    Cool stuff. Maybe good to note that the hip moving back is a result. The active part of the motion is pushing with the your lead leg into that hip socket. If you just "move the hip socket back" you might end up doing so with a pulling motion instead which would probably be an inferior way to do it.

    Eric Great video. One query though. At 8 min 09 secs into the video Mike refers to how you should not go early with this hip movement. At 06 min and 33 secs the pro hitting his driver looks like he has gone really early with his hips. Can you square away this apparent discrepancy?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 месяца назад

      Hey Simon! For sure....with driver you may see some go in a bit more.....prob not the best example on our end :)
      The main point is to not over do it....as the trail side rotates forward (toward target) you want to minimize the IN (toward ball part)
      You need to extend for sure....but with turn and tilt that extension should be more at the TARGET not the BALL
      hope that helps
      check this one out for more details on that I think you'll like this one.......

      Thanks Eric. Watched it . Took me a couple of plays to get the sense. I am not extending enough. No where near enough. It feels very odd when I try it. But before this extension feel i never understood how you flatten the bottom part of the swing effectively (so as to take a "bacon strip" divot). I am assuming that must come from correct extension??Yes ?@@CogornoGolf

    This video illustrates most golf pros and players basic ignorance of anatomy and kinesiology .
    Because of basic anatomy, the pelvis has very limited ability to rotate by ITSELF .Rotation of the pelvis during the downswing beyond this limited amount is dependent on positional changes of the lead femur( thigh bone) . Simply put this means that the lead hip rotates within the lead hip socket enabling the lead leg to straighten . When this happens , the lead 1/2 of the pelvis moves away from the TARGET LINE resulting in pelvic rotation .
    While Mr Malaska is CORRECT in his description , anyone with a basic understanding of anatomy would describe the movement of the pelvis in a similar way .
    Two simply ways, flaring the lead foot and opening the stance by pulling the lead foot away from the target line will facilitate pelvic rotation .
