I had a heart attack May 3 of this year. I survived in spite of being a very insulin resistant diabetic. I have eaten a strict low carb, high nutrition diet for four years and my A1C is at 5.8. I take high quality omega 3 fatty acids because I can not eat seafood. I can’t stand any of it! My doctor said I survived because of my diet, the fact I am in shape and have controlled my glucose. It is not easy, but anyone can do this! I have no damage to my heart and walked 5 miles of hills yesterday.

Hate to tell you but just saying. All the holistic I follow says you need to be much lower than 5.8. Don't believe your doctor. Your carbs to be very very low. You need to get down to closer to 5. More seafood as she says and more carnivore and a lot of 16,18,20 hour consistent fasting. Then do prolong fasting after getting adapted.
      Go for it.
See Dr Chaffee and Dr Ken Berry and Dr Berg.
Dr Schmidt also good in Michigan.

I am so happy for you, Vicky. I'm so glad that you survived and have recovered so well. I guess what scares me a little is that despite all of your remarkable dedication to your health, you still had a heart attack. Diabetes can be pretty relentless, I guess. I wonder if you had added a blood thinner to your regimen, like low-dose aspirin, if that would have prevented your heart attack? Best wishes to you for a long and healthy life!

Because of my first heart attack about 30 years ago, I have religiously eaten about 3 sardines every morning since - literally. I’m not sure I would have been so zealous if I had not 1) chosen “King Oscar” brand in extra virgin olive oil. I’m living in Norway where they come from, AND eaten alongside a few smaller pieces of white onions. What a flavor! What a healthy choice!

A few months ago I was diagnosed with AFib caused by sleep apnea/high BP not being treated for 3 years, due to recalled CPAP and COVID (I was afraid to get a sleep study then). I always feel fantastic on the sardine fast I mean really really great. The discovery I made this time is I didn't go into AFib by day two. Now I'm on the lookout for a good supplement of omega-3s triglyceride. Thanks for the information, I think it's going to be a big life changer for my heart health.

For at least the first 18 months of going low carb I was consuming a lot of almond flour. I have now changed to coconut flour. The reason I changed was that I was having RUQ pain in my back if I ate too many nuts. It was later that I learned that they were high in Omega 6. When I first made my low carb "bread" recipe I noticed a slight taste of coconut but it wasn't too bad; it was a bit weird eating salmon or chicken with a tinge of coconut. Now I don't even notice it. Oh yes, and I very rarely get RUQ pain.

Question: (Doc, or if anyone else knows)...Usually sardines are processed in Al cans, and w/high temps. High temps, if high enough, change "good fats...to bad". Therefore is there a risk, either from the Al cans or the molecular structure of the good fats changing due to this heat? Thank you. (All-the-more true, bc fish oils are more vulnerable to high heat, due to their fewer "double bonds".)
