Fire Emblem Engage Might Become The Best Fire Emblem Yet Игры
Engage did everything Three Houses was bad at good, while doing everything Three Houses was good at, bad.
Engage was more of a traditional fire emblem while three houses was something they tried doing new things with, including allowing you to change all of your units classes to whatever you wanted.
@@cammy649 Well, reclassing has been a thing since awakening
That's a pretty surface-level and reductive way of looking at both games, but go off 🙄
That's not true, they both have great characters, it's just that Engage characters tend to be more subtle and won't reveal everything about themselves to literally everybody (so, like normal people, oddly enough considering the absolute weirdos populating this game) while the Fodlanese people were constantly shoving their trauma (and post-timeskip, the way they evolved) down everyone and their mom's throats. Both great casts, Three Houses's just seems more substantial because, despite how unhinged the Engage cast is, TH's throws everything at your face. Like, oh cool, Marianne's depression is the focus of an interaction involving her... AGAIN... Oh and Lysithea is revealing her secret she doesn't want to reveal to another character... For the 10th time... Is that Bernadetta having a trauma-induced panic attack? How original! See what I mean? Both casts have depth and complexity, they just went complete opposite ways about it. Which is how you end up with Céline's lack of desire for happiness because she fears losing it someday and being forever sad if she never gets it back being only revealed in her supports with her brother (iirc) in Engage, while in Three Houses you'd have yet another support about Marianne being completely depressive but eventually growing stronger, more confident and happier eventually. In general, Three Houses's characters have more realistic problems, while the Engage cast has more realistic ways of dealing with these issues (though obviously there are exceptions in both games, like Raphael's issues never being explicitly stated showing a surprising amount of subtlety from a Three Houses character's writing, while Yunaka may as well be from Fodlan).
Also, both games have great music, and compelling if flawed stories, with Three Houses having higher highs... But also lower lows than Engage.
@@CuteHimbo Bias of your reply aside...huh. Now that you've pointed it out, I absolutely agree with what you said. I don't think I could have worded that better myself.
This game was fun gameplay-wise but had a forgettable story
Step up gameplay wise from three houses and downgrade on story
We need a game that nails both now
The story was good, but coming right on the heels of the Fodlan games, it’s disappointing.
My ranking is:
Three Houses
Three Hopes
Radiant Dawn
Path of Radiance
Echoes
Engage
Awakening
Sacred Stones
Binding Blade
Blazing Blade
Thracia 776
Fates
Genealogy of the Holy War
Mystery of the Emblem
Shadow Dragon
Warriors

For me, the story started picking up in chapter 10.

Why imagine when that is the reality nowadays?
I still prefer 3 houses as the different paths you take in the story offers more replay value. And a waaaaaaay better soundtrack. The emblem ring engine in engage is still awesome, seeing other characters from other FE games is definitely a good fan service to FE fans
I agree with most of your points, but you gotta admit, those trial themes were absolute fire when they began remixing old songw
The three different paths don’t offer ANY replay value, and I say that as a guy who got into FE through 3H and have played it so many times that I lost count. White Clouds is the exact same, and three of the routes post-White Clouds are near identical with very minor alterations. The only route that is even slightly unique is Crimson Flower-which even then reuses most of it’s maps, and only places you on a different side of it.
You could say the story in 3 houses was more.....engaging
Ok, I'll go but I agree with your sentiment
@@Hewasnumber1you clearly never played Azure Moon. And the final map of Verdant Wind is arguably worth the playthrough.
@@danielpatterson1576 I played Azure Moon more times than I can count. It’s one of my more preferred routes because Dedue, Dimitri, Felix and Sylvain are some of the most satisfying to use units in the game and make White Clouds way less of a pain in the sphincter. Do not mistake my unfavorable opinion to come from a place of ignorance, I’ll have you know that I have spent over 1300 hours playing the game over the years. For all my criticism, it comes from a place of (sometimes) begrudging love.
Azure Moon has 7 unique maps that aren’t accessible in other routes, and 3 of them are paralogues. Each route only has a handful of unique maps, and the rest of the maps are legitimately identical to the other routes. Three Houses route split only really incentivizes you to choose one route whose maps and starting characters you like more and only play that going forward. For example: I prefer to play Verdant Wind because the final map is one of the best in the series-at least to me-and I barely play any other routes because there’s little incentive to because until the endgame, they’re the exact same.
Imagine being a short form content youtuber. You have absolutely nothing of value to say and just live off people looking for actual thoughts on something.
"The new hoover vacuum cleaner might be the best yet! It sucks up dirt! This is incredible but you'll have to turn it on over your carpet to see how well it actually cleans."
So we're just going to forget about awakenings then.
Awakening was an excellent starter game for newcomers with the best story out of all the most recent entries IMO. I really wish we could get a port of it to Switch already. Nintendo would make so much more bank on ports than new games right now it's ridiculous. The online libraries for retro games it has thus far are is the sole reason I have not bothered investing in any of the other new consoles.
Awakening's a fun game and it's a shame the game isn't seeing representation in Fire Emblem Engage, especially since Engage does feel a lot like an anniversary/fan game with many other Fire Emblem's represented in it.
@@GaiusIsidoro wait for dlc, they’ll probably add more awakening stuff
@@GaiusIsidoro Lucina is from awakening though. But yeah, its a shame there isnt more, honestly very suprised that nethier of the two main characters robin or chrom are in the game but maybe the dlc will change that.
@@GaiusIsidoro Lucina and her ring Category is right there???
I'm not gonna call Engage the BEST Fire Emblem, but its fun. While many people dislike the story, I found the story to be better than Fates, and that's saying something.
From what I hear, Three Houses will always be the best in terms of story, but I didn't like the gameplay so much, I won't talk about Three Hopes though.
Overall, calling a game the best is really just a matter of opinion.
Says they probably only did the bare minimum
I just wish that Intelligent Systems would stop with the avatar main protagonist and go back to just having a single pre determined protagonist like everything pre fates
Make that pre Awakening. In fact, make it pre Shadow Dragon. I don't mind avatar protag as long as they are legitimate characters on their own. Corrin was infuriatingly naive. I liked Robin after all their DLC, especially female Robin with Chrom
@@straypaper Yeah I didn't mind Robin, in fact I think he has been the best avatar character besides Mark. Also I hate how everyone is always praising the Avatar at every opportunity as if he's the best thing ever.
@@MHBaba10 Mark was a non-character, he might as well have not even existed. And as for why everyone loves Alear, well, he is their god in the flesh. And Alear goes through a bit of a character arc, where he gets knocked down several pegs and looks like a bitch, then had to claw his way back up while the bad guys do bad guy shit with the rings.
All of the avatars save for Byleth are their own characters. You can change their name, their gender, and sometimes what they look like, but they have defined character traits and take very active roles in the story.
Alear is far from being a self-insert: she has her own personality, goals, and trauma. You can change her name, but other than that she is wholly divorced from player influence.
@@MHBaba10Alear is literally a central figure in their religion. That’s like playing Jesus in a game, and getting upset that people worship him.
Everyone in Engage is surprised and overjoyed that they were the ones lucky enough to see the day that their god’s child finally awoke after her millennia long slumber.
I LOVE this game it did take a while for the story to really pick up though my main criticism is the fact that I can’t give Zelkov cat ears
hearing the phrase "fire emblem engage might be the best fire emblem yet" actually puts me in pain. this game was a huge disappointment
There is no way something with mobile gacha mechanics is ever going to be considered "10/10 best gameplay in the series," for me.
Not even in my top 5 fe games
Gameplay is excellent with great ways to strategize but the characters and story leave a lot to be desired. It feels like an anime you'd give to a 13 year old who just outgrew Pokemon and now wants something with a little more edge but is painfully PG-PG13. If anything, Engage is a great introduction game for newcomers of the FE franchise. There's enough gameplay to remain challenging for seasoned players with lots of new options to make it feel fresh while also having enough of a learning cap and lighthearted enough characters to let newcomers join in without feeling like they are in the dark about the franchise's history.
It's not only a great entry point for newcomers, but it's also an FE veteran's wet dream with all the classic Emblem characters mixed in too along with their paralogues that feature remixes of some of the more memorable maps from older FE games too. After having played it I personally love the game, but it's not the best Fire Emblem imo. Thank you for leaving a comment!
The story alone would kill any newcomer’s interest in the series. This shit read like a 10-year-old’s fanfiction. Houses and Awakening are by far the best games for people to start the series with these days.
@@mr.stuffdoer8483Awakening yeah.
Houses? Its complicated.
Houses is a fantastic game on its own, but as an FE game its so far from every other title in the franchise that you'd get whiplash playing every other game in the series if your only exposure prior was Three Houses.
Gameplay/Combat is a lot of fun. If it's the best? Definitely debatable. Doesn't help that story is an S tier comedy with very lazy, tropy, and basic plot with heavy exposition. Def feels targeted at a younger audience. Characters aren't much better on that note, and while I like about 75% of the cast design wise, MC is not one of them. Character writing is super shallow as well. Would still recommend it if u can look past all this. I'm enjoying my time and don't regret my purchase, but I hope the next game takes their writing and storytelling more seriously. Same for the art style. I have no problems with colorful characters, but some of these designs are just a bit too much. Also, for God's sake, the clipping xD
This game feels a lot like pre-Awakening Fire Emblem to me. They cut out the marriage/children/school gimmicks, and the pacing seems more focused around the actual combat gameplay with a lot of very optional content in between. Personally, I love it since I'm more of a gameplay guy myself. But I definitely agree with a lot of your points, especially in regards to the character writing and storytelling. For me the game is like a Fire Emblem 30th anniversary celebration looking back on the series' history. I get to see all my favorite heroes from past entries make a return with a lot of nice variations of some of their most memorable stages in this game's emblem paralogues. I might make a another video about my thoughts of the game when I'm done with it (currently chapter 21). Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Yeah I agree. I'm definitely enjoying it, as I've enjoyed all the fire emblem games I've played, but I can't call it the best when the story and characters are as one note as they are. I haven't finished the game yet so maybe it will surprise me but the story is definitely tropey, and the characters' supports are only there for fun rather than for any actual depth from what I've seen. 3h had some issues but the support conversations seem so much better to me in that game.
In all fairness I was always going to like 3h better on the basis that I enjoy the persona elements and I prefer the tone 3h had, but I still think engage is very good
i agree this might not be the best Fire Emblem game. but this is my favorite FE alongside with Three Houses and Echoes. glad to see your opinion, i respect that.
I actually like the design for feMC. The male version on the other hand is off putting for some reason.
My problem is the dialogues feel written by a kid, literally no thought or detail was given to these dull boring conversations, compare these to fire emblem path of radiance or awakenings
My brother in christ even if the gameplay is debatably solid the story isn’t exactly the best. This is literally from the Fates writing team.
They sure did get the ass kissing correctly.
Story isn't that important. If it's good that's a nice bonus. But if the gameplay and level design are solid that's all that really matters.
@@PurpleRupees a bad story can easily put someone off from continuing the game after a few hours.
@@clarinet800149 You can skip a bad story. You can't skip bad gameplay.
@@PurpleRupees true this is why I can't play fe4
I played it just because I like the series. The team that made 3H should get a chance to refine the formula further, put more time into maps etc. in a sequel. That game joins my short list of favorite RPGs.
I would prefer a remastered three houses
It's like Fate but it's Fire Emblem
Fun gameplay (I’ll give it that, I had some fun)
Bad story
Bad characters
Bad grinding
Bad supports
No marriage
A lot of the characters were butchered in localization, sometimes for the better. If you care so much about the characters and the supports, you could always play a fan translation of the Japanese version. A lot of the units were mid, but some were real gold.
No marriage is an objectively wrong statement
so true.
Also alears design is dumb I like if their a divine dragon they should have pointy ears I miss that but they just look human at this point
I strongly disagree with saying Engage might be the best Fire Emblem yet. It was good, but it had mediocre characters, both design and writing wise. Many of them were just copy pasted character tropes from Fates (and not good ones). The story was very hit or miss, having more misses than hits IMO. The gameplay was probably the only thing I’d say would be the best FE yet. So yeah, overall, I’d say it was good, but saying it’s the best? Hard no. Sorry Engage Fans. XD
seeing the characters from prev games felt nostalgic and special but i hope they don't keep adding characters from prev games to the new one like this cause itd ruin the uniquely aspect of this game and nullify the nostalga impact.
in this sense i love persona cause within its franchise it has a sub series where all the characters from the diff games interact with each other and its still one of my top fave games series to this day!
The writing and story no game play yes
I agree, characters are kinda trash as well. Three houses spoiled us character wise
@@Roloki454It's about the same. 3H characters were more bearable because they looked their age though
Gameplay animations had that punch too which was satisfying
@@FimbulvetrThe characters were also well written and actually received some degree of depth.
i feel like gameplay wise it was AMAZINGGGGGGGG but story and character wise it didn’t grab me as much as other ones
Radiant down is forever the best FE
Hahaha late April fools joke right?
The gameplay is 10/10 the engage system is really cool and fun to use
The story though…
Is filled to the brim with good ideas, but absolutely awful execution. How they can give Alear an S-tier backstory, but then proceed to give her amnesia so that it’s only plot relevant near the end of the game is beyond me.
The story is exactly what it presents itself as and serves its purpose perfectly and thus is objectively good.
Unpopular opinion, FE can't do serious stories without fucking them up, or at least hasn't since the pre-localization era. Story peaked in the Sacred Stones since it kept the scope small instead of biting off more than it could chew. I'm loving every minute of Engage. It's not trying to be something it can't *cough 3h*. It's not biting off more it can chew *cough Tellius cough*. It's not ashamed of what it is *cough Fates cough*. It knows exactly how stupid it is and owns it and that's the best FE can do.
@@amazinggrapes3045Yeah I really like how everyone laughs after their rings get stolen, Panette talks about her abusive parents and Alfred is dying from an illness he was born with. Comedy gold, amirite?
What I hope they don’t do is just give you the rings make unique
I prefer three houses but it's still awesome
I liked Three Houses, but the social gimmicks really got in the way of the gameplay for me. I do respect the game and its courage for taking the Fire Emblem series a little bit out of its box though.
Story wise, absolutely
Gameplay wise, waaaay to grindy for my liking
I love the level design in FE engage, there are some levels that got me like: okay tf am I doing here??
Me waiting for my boy Ike to appear
No Arthur. Pass
I think it's a nice return to form for the series, and the gameplay was really the main selling point of this entry.
The characters and the story overall were underdeveloped and very low quality as a compromise.
I'd rate it similarly to Sacred Stones; a safe "B TIER". It did some things well and didn't really do much wrong, but it somehow managed to feel underwhelming despite having no glaring flaws.
I seem to remember the trailers focusing a lot more on the bare-bones story and somniel over the main gameplay. They certainly didn't hesitate to introduce the $30 "expansion" either.
Well, we had a fire emblem with an incredible story and serviceable gameplay, and then moved to a fire emblem game with good gameplay and a bad story. Hopefully next time they combine the two and make one with a good story and good gameplay
They had to make a draft sorta, with those two as said drafts and a new 'final product' as the next game
We're gonna give the Fateverse some competition at this rate lol
I love this game so much. To me, it's one of best in the series.
Imagine announceing paid DLC before you even release your gay😂
Gameplay wise was a lot better that 3houses. But at the same time the characthers in 3h were a lot better so it is odd. I will kill for a 3h game but with the emblem ring fusion mechanic. That alone change all the gameplay in a way that is amazing for just one mechanic
I do enjoy this game and the ring system I just wish it wasn’t so censored on things
It's not, they only changed supports
this aged well.
I love three houses bc it has such in depth and diverse characters & I like the tutor aspect and OPEN areas. Engage however seems shallow, it’s annoying how you can’t explore spaces freely bc some wall suddenly pops up out of nowhere & the characters feel replaceable (except old character ofc, but I haven’t played the really old games)on the other hand I have to admit the battle system is more fun
Personally, I don’t like it when new games feature old characters (felt like it should’ve stayed in Heroes). The mechanics/interactions were good, but the story was meh
I agree, they're playing too hard on nostalgia and characters that people know from Smash Bros.
Yeah, I see where you're coming from since the game leans pretty hard on the old characters since most of the paralogues are strictly for them. I think that leans largely into why the story isn't really on the level of most Fire Emblem games. As someone who cares more about gameplay it doesn't bother me that much, but I definitely see where you're coming from.
Man, I wanted to like engage so much, but man the characters, and story is just so forgettable. The gameplay is fun, but it’s not like a game that can be carried on that alone. The game felt like such a step down from three houses. Three houses had its problems, but holy shit, the characters, and story of that game. It was honestly amazing. Going through each story too felt like a breeze, I loved to go back, and experience these characters.
I was not ready for blue eyed Corrin 😅
I thought everyone said this game was disappointing
I LOVE the game play of this game, but.....the story is so.....meh.
Also, Japan had to take out a ton of features to appeal to Western censorship. That personally left a poor impression on me, knowing that. And you can feel it as well, with some odd design decisions, that other older Fire Emblem games don't shy away from.
So to me, the game play with the ring system is awesome. I love the Somniel.
The characters are....hit or miss. Some of them are waaaay too insanely one dimensional (like Etie and Celine) to the point where even if they have decent character designs....their boring supports and one note characters just make it nearly impossible to enjoy them. You can entirely sum Etie and all her supports as (muscles) and you can sum Celine and all her supports up as (tea). If there's ever anything interesting going on in their supports, it's almost universally because the other character in the support is so good and carrying them.
To me, boring one note characters were Amber, Celine, Etie, (kinda Alfred, but he's just a slightly better Etie), Bunett. Boucheron, Jade, and Louis were also pretty boring.
Whereas they did have excellent characters, most of which who arrive latter half of the game. Diamunt, Alcryst, Lapis, Timera, Panette, Ivy, Goldmary.
Some really good early ones are Framme, Clanne, Anna, and the shining star of the game in my opinion, Yunaka.
But I still found the story to be....really average. Maybe even below average....Like, I actually found Fate's story and world to be much more interesting, personally. And when you look back at gems such as Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Blazing Blade, Echoes, Awakening, and Three Houses....this game's story gets blown out of the water by their epic stories.
But again, the game play and coolness factor of this game, CANNOT be understated. And the bringing back of classic and beloved characters from previous games as actual supportable characters through ring bonding is an awesome move that I very much love. Seeing Ike and Soren is an especially big treat, since their game's story still is my favorite.
And seeing Soren roast everyone in their supports never gets old XD
All in all, 9/10 game play (I don't care for how the skirmishes get so crazy difficult to scale with your level, while the campaign missions stay crazy easy if you grind. Almost feel like it should be reversed. And the Sominiel, while amazing, sometimes....feels like there is TOO MUCH you feel you need to do in between battles, before you jump back into the juicy awesome battles). The Engage system is amazing, and I love how it changes your characters looks and playstyles. You can pull of so many unexpected crazy combos that just wouldn't be possible in another Fire Emblem game with this system. Excellent and well done, the engage system.
5/10 story....maybe even 4/10. The Veyle interaction was kinda interesting...and the Emblem Rings involvement was neat. But it was horribly predictable, to the point of eye rolling. And most of the scenes that should have evoked emotion, did not.
SPOILERS
Especially Lumeria's death, who had a billion death flags with all her words of dreams for the future. Really long drawn out predictable death scene that actually had my switch go into sleep mode during the middle of her long, Dead Pool meme level of death dialogue. And I felt nothing for the Brodia king death, that they make a big deal out of, because the dude went off like a fool on his own O_o utterly preventable death, that I felt more annoyed by than anything.
Also, adding this in here....the soundtrack for this game....amazing. I adore it. The battle tracks especially. 10/10 soundtrack. It's that good. Sadly...it gets a little overshadowed by the scenes they play in, which are sometimes a little cringe and don't play well with the epic music going on. So maybe....9/10 music score, cause the story scenes drag them down?
Either way, an excellent Fire Emblem game that I sincerely hope the game play of this gets incorporated in future entrees....but I sincerely hope we get back to epic Fire Emblem stories in the future. And here's hoping that Western corporations keep their hands off of Eastern products, and just let the artists create to their heart's content without needing to limit themselves, to appeal to very sensitive Western culture.
Let Western games be Western games, and let Eastern games be Eastern games. Don't hold a gun to the creators head and say that you won't allow the game to be made the way the creator wants unless it appeases "all mighty America's" constantly shifting culture and political climate. I don't want to see Fire Emblem games constantly chipping away from what drew me to the series to begin with, solely to appease some stuck up overly sensitive Americans that likely aren't even going to play the game in the first place.
Or for God's sake, at LEAST release the game on Steam so modders can unlock all the stuff that needed to be censored or cut away due to American influence.
To be fair, SOME of the Japanese content needed to be taken out. I don’t want to hear about Alear and Veyle having multiple children.
No actual gameplay features were removed, only dialogue was changed. This isn't Fates where they removed the Private Quarters minigame, stopped the final DLC Maps from releasing overseas, and the option to change to Japanese voices.
You can literally change both the voices and dialogue to Japanese in this game, which are unchanged.
I'm actually well and truly sick of seeing Marth.
Smash Bros made him mainstream
Engage might be the best fire emblem yet, 😂🤣
Anybody who actually thinks this is the best Fire Emblem yet hasn't played the other games and/or is a really crazy massive weeb
I didn’t know people were this anxious for Engage. The game is good, I can’t really complain about it. There are some things I would change, but overall I like the product. I played through it twice and really grew to love some of the characters. I wouldn’t say its the best game I’ve ever played, but I honestly can’t put any other FE game I’ve played above it. They’re all “Fire Emblem” to me, just with more features with every new game.
Engages gameplay and gameplay animations (they had that satisfying punch which was missing in 3Houses) were good but the story and majority of the characters were meh….
Fire emblem : Try not to cringe
Gameplay is fun tho
Reviews for fire emblem games are so strange. Some people hate 3h, some people hate engage.. so confusing I'm just going to buy engage after playing 120 hours of 3h. Hope I enjoy it lol
Depends on what you want out of a video game. Do you want immersion and art or do you want to brainlessly watch numbers go up.
@@vanilla8956That's a funny way to say Engage has better maps and gameplay than 3H.
@@JF-vz1ju Yeah sure, a million gacha mechanics stacked on top of each other is better because it's more.

?
Why? Genuinely.
The game has good combat and animations but otherwise I feel like fe3h takes it. I liked the progression focus as if you were teaching people in fe3h, and the story is bounds better.
Both games are really good however and def worth playing.
3H just sucks to iron man. Since every character is an investment when one of the dies it almost feels like you HAVE to reset.
Plus you get the bulk of your units right at the start. Post time skip you get no one. It’s such a crazy design.
Another thing is like, the unit feel just isn’t there. The characters don’t feel super distinct since the class system is so Freeform. Slap a bow on everyone and make them a Wyvern Lord
How is making everyone a lvl 30 class that requires 3 high skill ranks and doesn't let you use Brawling, Spells, or 95% of your battalions any less complex than giving everyone Canter and making them Heroes?
@@AkameGaKillfan777 I never said it wasn’t as complex. I just said I don’t like more Freeform classes? Where did I say it wasn’t complex.
Plus most master tier classes aren’t even worth it in 3h.
Also not everyone goes hero, and getting canter isn’t that easy (without dlc). also
@@megaspacewaffles None of that means you can cheese 3 Houses easily without New Game+ or grinding. What if I like other weapon types to deal more damage with? What if I don't want one of my ability slots to always require having Close Counter equipped? What if I want Combat Arts that are good at actually killing enemies instead of just chip damage with occasional status effects? What if I want to LTC certain battles? What if I just don't want to be that class?
The Well in Engage is a free update, and the game showers you with bond fragments after every battle, achievements and Sommie. But that doesn't stop people from getting upset when their avoid or dodge tank gets chain attacked to death because they don't have enough of the God-awful Heroes SP to get Pair Up.
This is certainly a take
After finishing the game, definitely not even in my top 5. Story was pretty boring, difficutly felt fairly low and not in a good way, and most of the characters seemed bland. Also, maybe its not a defining feature for an FE game but the music didnt seem that great.
Engage is the worst in the series for me
Ñ 😂
Eh, most emblem rings were just Combat Arts on a cooldown. I don't like how much it feels like they can only ever be used in player phase.
The map design was neat, though they still had Fog of War maps, which I've always despised in FE. But credit where credit is due, they finally made a map where they play around the FoW gimmick.
The game balanced wasn't as tight in the hardest difficulty. The game pretty much has a couple of broken strategies and all of them work for every scenario imaginable. For any other thing you might wanna do, it just sucks. So you'll pretty much have a couple gods in your army and then a lot of useless filler.
I'd say this game certainly tries to do interesting things, even if it's against it's own difficulty.
Engage is ok, It feels like a decent Spin off for Fire Emblem but not a mainline game.
The gameplay is way better than 3h, and there is some characters i really like in Engage too, i'm also fan of the character desing, but afther replaying 3h post Engage, 3h feels WAY better than it even with the gameplay having a lot of issues, but the story and characters are just really great.
My favorite FE is Fates which shares most of the ups and downs of Engage. But unlike Fates where it has a solid base (and the story is so bad that it's funny) and has a better cast too(i really like Fates cast even if they are troupey and shallow). Engage shares most of Fates flaws but has a weaker artstyle, soundtrack (this was by far the most disappointing aspect of It) and gameplay(CQ remains as peak FE gameplay), so i ended up enjoying Engage way less than Fates even if they are similiar.
Engage's story is actually better than Fates but is also more boring and eh(you have few funny moments too unlike Fates where the shit is so messed up that is funny), it did have potential to be actually at least better than what everyone expected(a bad story) but it ended up being very uninspired and predictable.
I'd rate Engage as a good/decent game but the only things that makes it truly be interesting to play is the great gameplay and the fanservice but not anything else.
While the graphics improved, the lore, gameplay and characters had alot less depth, three houses was better.
(When I say gameplay, I mean the general fight sequences)
There is no robin in this game so i pass
Well the dlc files were found and Robin seems to be complicated, there is an attack named "robins thoron" but there is no robin emblem planned it seems. Now of course this is all to be taken with a grain of salt as leaks of any kind are dubious at best.

People saying engage is good/the best makes me wonder if they ever played awakening, path of radiance, 3H, etc.
Engage is terrible. Stupid gimmick, terrible story, combat is laughably easy it’s a joke, the character designs are utter ass and the list goes on.
I dont know how anyone can say engage gameplay is bad then praise awakening. Awakening is just nosferatu and pair up spam, at least engage you couldnt cheese it with one unit
@@-lord1754 There are multiple people who have already done Alear solos on hard and maddening difficulty. I did from Chapter 9 onwards. That's hardly any different.
You can solo every single FE game with a single character if you optimize hard enough lmao@@AkameGaKillfan777
As engage as my first FE game I was surprised about the worldbuilding and the character development in my opinion
Horrible post game. No new game plus nor bonuses. I dont want to grind again on my second run
I honestly got into Fire Emblem thanks to the characters… and Engage sorely lacks in good characters. While Awakening and Three Houses really let us learn about the characters we fight alongside… Engage did not have the same depth for any of the characters. The story was bland and the villain was laughably bad… Alear is the least interesting protagonist IMO and, aside from stellar graphics and a cool, but seemingly incomplete, gimmick… was a pretty lackluster rpg.
Honestly the past 3 mainline FE games have been a miss for me, I only bought them because I wanted to support IS and at least give them a try but FE Engage and 3H were just terrible imo
Best gameplay ever
Too bad the story was absolute shit
Fire that writer
Smash or pass
Lets be real People will forget engage characters pretty quickly.
There are pretty bland, too anime like(they look more like vtubers than actual warriors). And to not help it they are forgettable since people will be more interested by the past characters that people already like.
Engage gameplay is great there is no denying that but in terms of story and characters, the game is pretty weak
I deny that Engage has good, let alone great gameplay. Everything I liked about Awakening, Fates and 3 Houses is either downgraded or removed.
And I have yet to see a single person actually critique the map design, instead of just saying: "It's better than 3H." Both seem pretty interchangeable to me considering that I Alear soloed the main game after Chapter 9 and all of the Paralogues on Hard Classic.
Funny that you mention that the character designer actually is a vtuber designer lol
With the success and attention Engage is getting, it needs a second expansion pass.
Spoilers: there is no difficulty because of the time rewind.
I think Fire Emblem™ ENGAGE will be the Best JRPG Game 🎮 In 2023 ❤️⚔️💙💍 + I know It’s the Seventeenth entry to the series I think there’s a lot of possibilities whether it’ll happen regarding with The Game Awards In December 2023 10-Year Celebration to the Nominations.
I hope ENGAGE or Xenoblade 3 will be Game Of The Year.
lol we are only 1 month into 2023 chill.
Xenoblade already lost game of the year lol
@Malik Harper Lol, You’re just trusting to believed that XC3 won’t deserve a 2nd chance just because I’m still staying it’ll help to get another shot think like how Smash Bros. Ultimate wasn’t GOTY for TGA 2019
But it was the Best Fighting Game well I think you’re just jealous that Xenoblade 3 didn’t win 🏆 for Game Of The Year, Best Role-playing and Best Score & More for the Nominees. I think you’re weird and strange.
@Adeniyi .Omishore Ahah Haha 😛 Yeah, 😤😏 right like I’ve wished this it’s the Next Future Year 20XX: 2099 before 21st Century as Next-Gen or 22nd Century for that Era Lol but I really want to laughing 😂 harder on my A$* for 2023 Year roadmap.

I don’t play hate
Nah Engage ended up rivaling Fates as the worst FE ever. The characters in this where just horrible along with the bland as fuck story
Conquest was good and had good world building and lore. It was the plot that was terrible. With engage it's everything about the story that's rancid, not just the plot.
Fates also has better gameplay
The best gameplay yet for sure, but the story on the other hand...
I would say this was the best game yet, but the story was atrociously bad. I can’t see myself playing it again as a result.
I hate the emblem ring..why cant they make fire emblem thats doesn't have this nonsense fanservice feature
Fr😭 This is the fifth time they've used a similar gimmick
This was the game to celebrate the 30th ani of the series
It’s an anniversary game that focuses on all the old characters. It’s a love letter to the franchise’s decades-long history.
@@CMitchell808 And what better way to "celebrate" the series history than to make the characters and art style as NON-Fire Emblem as possible?
@@AkameGaKillfan777FE doesn’t have a concrete artstyle. FE1-Thracia have a very typical anime artstyle for the time period; FE6-Sacred Stones look somewhat similar, but then the Tellius games had it’s own distinct artstyle. Awakening and Fates were similar, but everything since has been different from each other. FE’s artstyle changes all the time, so why does when Engage does it it’s a bad thing? You allergic to vibrant colors or something?
No
Also buy the DLCs!🤦♀️ How annoying!
Awakening was about perfect in every way. Engage is running a close second. I'm really happy this game exists. All I can say is, It's about time we finally got another real FE game. Only took 10 years or something, but definitely worth the wait!
Yeah, I had nothing against Three Houses but I think this game was a real return to form for the series. I enjoy the emblem system too.
@@GaiusIsidoro Yeah, it's not bad at all. Honestly, probably the best method they've ever used, to introduce old characters, along with some background story making it so people know why they mattered.
The Character models were bad even by 3DS standards. Pair-up wasn't as polished as it could've been. Validar is probably the lamest villain in the series. You can solo the second half of the game just by leveling up Robin enough. Ambush Spawns. Unbalanced difficulties.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 But it’s fun!
@@CMitchell808 But it's not perfect
I don’t like this game too much. Nothing wrong with the game but I just don’t like it. I don’t like the story, limited movement and VERY limited deployment slots. Also, half the cast is insane. And I don’t like that bosses have multiple health bars. Save that for the divine beasts!
Three houses is SOO much better than Engage. Not even close. Is this paid content? Makes no sense.
OK
I don't like the main characters because they got joycon hairstyle.
Never ever it could be the best fe so far
Mm.. nostalgia wise, sure. Gameplay and story? Meh.
I respectfully disagree with you. I did not enjoy this game. I played every fire emblem through at least twice and this is my least favorite so far. However, that being said, I still hope the people that enjoyed the game liked it, but I also hope we never get another game like it
It's Fates all over again.
When they don't localize wifey it can't be the best or top 3 🤷🏽♂️
Best fire emblem? Man ur out of your mind, 3H is definitely the best as it was able to cater to young & new fans. Seems like this game is mostly for older players who only care for combat, I for one want a decent storyline with good character design something this game doesn’t have. Y’all too complicit.
I'm a gameplay guy so to each their own. I'm just glad the game's selling! Thanks for taking the time to comment on my video.
Three houses was good for people who wanted that kind of game. That being said, it was no better or worse, than any other run of the mill, sim infested rpg. The people who designed that game's battle system weren't even the creators of the Fire Emblem Franchise. It was brokenly easy, and shoved things down our throats "Fire Emblem" fans, didn't want. It's fine if you like Three Houses, but it doesn't really sound like you're a fan of the franchise. Is what it is. Engage is what the rest of us wanted for the first Switch entry, and we got TH instead. It's like people who act like Transformers quit existing in 1987. They aren't fans of "The Transformers". They're just fans of the Diaclone toys and won't admit it. 🤷
Older fans care about stories too. The Tellius games and Genealogy of the Holy War are the types of stories older fans have been dying for
@@dvdjkaufmn Broken easily? That's nothing new for FE and Engage is well into the process of it already. Someone completed an Alear Maddening solo, people can LTC several main story maps, ALL of the paralogues, and even Chapters 5 & 6 of the Xenologue.
I can make the same argument for literally EVERYTHING ELSE in the game not being FE, from the Vtuber character designs, to the cast being worse than Awakening, and overall art direction being another cookie-cutter mobile Anime RPG.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 Yeah that's true, but TH just gave it to you, right out of the gate. The regular main series games get broken later on, as a sort of reward for dumping a hundred hours into it, and getting slapped around a little along the way. TH was just like, "Oh you bought the game, so you must instantly be brokenly OP, without learning how to strategy whatsoever, because otherwise, we know the target audience for this game will take to the internet in force complaining that it's too hard. " lol
Gameplay interesting. Everything else is TERRIBLE
From a story perspective it's one of the worst
Best Fire Emblem game ever
Fire emblem engage disappointed me to be honest story was just horrible the male mc was such a wienie,
It's jojo
I hate permadeath so much its so stressful for me
Casual mode
Play it
*worst
Stfu, three houses legit shits on engage so fucking hard. I played three houses 6 times, and I might be going back in for the 7th soon. Engage i played once and was disappointed by the ending.
Fire emblem engage is for teenage weeaboos
Sadly, the game is mid in every aspect😮💨
Im not paying 60 dollars for a game i could play for free
Yeah don’t get it, it’s ass.
They really should bring back durability to weapons. It's my only happiness
Bro what? Taking durability away made the two best fire emblem games (in terms of gameplay)
@@lazersfixall3939 for you probably but not for me i like my games Extra hard
@@Rajangsucks in my opinion durability is a lazy way to balance weapons. You just make a good weapon and only give it 20 durability IST boring. However with Fe fates (my favorite Fe) it gives different effects which affects more than just "I'll lose durability". Like how silver weapons give a small debuff for a turn or how some weapons can't double
