Baseball fields have silica mixed into the sand infield to help absorb moisture so if any RC car is being used on the sand intensive cleaning will be needed or it will destroy bearing so fast
Arrma/Horizon have a wonderful deal going much like the gaming industry. Release high end vehicles and through customer warranty claims allow us to do all their R and D. Then later after we work out the bugs they release the Exb version for nearly the same price minus their bogus electronics. Ridiculous. Thank you for your honest reviews and videos. Appreciate someone not being in Horizons pocket.
Most companies do that tho except axial them mf just dont listen period lol but like losi did that with the rock rey then they gave us the baja rey then the hammer rey each iteration fixed the bugs from the previous version
Spot on, that is a good list. Though, you could also address the bearing rear hub carrier issue, by upgrading the carriers themselves with aluminum or whatever ones. Sure, it is a bit more pricey, but they pull away some of the heat, are a bit more resistant to warping since the material isn't as soft, and are generally pretty well protected against impact damage in that position.
hot racing bellcrank, raw 500 servo, hot racing servo mount, nhx muscle fans. m2c wheel nuts and radiolink receiver .....ur pretty much spot on to mine fran lol
The reason the Mojave....(IMHO) -Loses the lug nuts, -Breaks the bearings Is because the Tires and wheel setup is too small and too heavy for this vehicle. By contrast the Talion Katar tires and wheels are 10mm larger in OD & also Wider but they are actually lighter. I fixed this problem by simply going to the Talion tires & wheels and trimming the fenders to accommodate the change. I am much much happier and the lug nuts don't come off any more and I don't "dig-in" with the front bumper near as much. 😎 Go figure.
Thank you sir…..I got the V2 with the better radio and heat sink installed at factory as part of the V2. A tire came off for the first time in 8 months just the other day. Any links to your suggested fix for the rear bearings? The V2 servo is a ~ little ~ better, but not a whole lot…… Have always appreciated your channel…..have several of your vids saved for crawlers since I decided to get trx4 Defender….. Please keep up the good work, it’s the only channel I subscribe to for crawlers, one of the few overall ……..period
Yup……that was my response to his observation about a tire coming off….happens to most all rigs…….once every 8 months…I can deal with…….it takes a beating and begs for more…..
Im not gonna read through and see uf anyones said it yet but M2C makes an extended nut with double lockers.. Ive honestly been able to take wheels that are pretty much perfect circle stripped the inside of my hex and with this upgrade it even holds a completely stripped hex allowing the ones you have stripped a second chance at life
I got suckered into the arrma hype by some buddies. Sold my senton v3 after 4 battery runs and my Mojave after 5 maybe 6 battery runs. Both cars where riddled with problems. From bearings, rocks constantly jamming the servos and cooking them, burnt esc's, blown out shocks, hexes coming apart, blown center diff, drive shaft melted to the diff and would not come off. Every time I drove one I would end up having to cut my run short because they would break one way or another. Bought a tekno sct410.3 and a losi dbxl-e 2.0. Zero issues with both. Only replaced the servo on that losi because it was weak.
I love my 8S OUTCAST. Unfortunately I have experienced one of the same problems you have with the MOHAVE. EVERY SINGLE TIME I take it out, at least one hex nut has come loose! I am not very hard on my RC’s. I work too hard & spend too much money to take them out & destroy them. I have used the tool supplied by ARRMA & have tried absolutely as hard as I can to tighten them as much as possible & I was amazed to find the problem continued. I asked Earl Mooorhead if he also has the problem with the OUTCAST. He told me he didn’t, however, he uses a cordless electric ratchet to put on & remove the hex nuts. I was wondering if a little loctite might work without causing too much of an issue getting the hex nuts when I need to. What do you think?
I use the after market double nuts and a little blue loctite, never had a problem. BTW, it is usually the right rear that gives you fits. The same happens at my local Carpet track with 1/10 race buggies. Do NOT use the red loctite, just the blue. If by chance you ever feel it is too hard to remove when you need to, add a little heat from a soldering gun to any loctited part.
In this video you said, that In the 2021 version of the Mojave they're using a better radio, the DX3? But try as I might I cannot find ANY Arrma Mojave being sold with such an improved transmitter. I have an Arrma Infraction and I love the transmitter it came with. When I heard you say that there's a 2021 Mojave with that very radio, I was excited. Sad thing is, I can't seem to find it.
Some excellent points you make here . As for the loose hex nuts , try putting some o-rings on before the nuts. This will usually stop the nuts from loosening up. Mine only come loose on the front passenger side and the rear drivers side. I’m sure this is because of centrifugal force. Great video
My wheels used to come off too but after I started tightening my hexes after EVERY run I've never had that problem anymore it's annoying but worth the headache compared to that feeling of not being able to run smh!
Dude, check it, use Tekno parts to upgrade any of the Arrma stuff that is weak. Especially the hubs, (order up the Tekno ET/EB lightened +3/+4mm hubs), captured wheel nuts, the 2.0 rear carriers with ability to change roll center with the hub inserts, Tekno SCT or ET “C” block w/inserts will let you change anti-squat and toe, use the Tekno servo saver, servo arm, swaybars and links, and you may be able to use the 2.0 rear suspension arms as well.
I wish arrma would leave all the crap out to begin with. And just lower the price abit so we could buy half decent stuff. This is why i got the exb version. Most of that crap ends up in land fill.
On my Mojave blx it only came with one shim on the ring gear side of the rear diff. I’ve been told adding another one will tighten up the gear mesh and I’m not sure if I want that. What are the pros and cons of adding another?

Tighten them down good the first time and you’ll be fine… EDIT: Now that I’ve watched the whole video it’s pretty apparent this is an outdated V1 Mojave. Pretty much all of these issues have been addressed. Good info for older Mojave’s though!

Get some M2C +2mm hexes with the double nuts. They’re worth it.
Yep M2C hex and double nuts are the ticket
So true! I put them on before I ever ran my Mojave and have not had a wheel come loose yet.
I check wheel nuts on all my trucks every time i swap a battery. lose wheel nuts can happen to any RC.
yeah i was thinking exactly the same thing, you should check them before each run anyway, ive always done that

Maybe a little bit of blue loctite on the wheel nuts? I think blue is the lighter strength so you don't have to dream on stuff to get it back off.
