One chilly night later...this IS the issue! I pulled the filter out and lo and behold...HEAT! Glorious heat. The filter was quite dirty and the system did warn me to change the filters two months ago and I procrastinated. It's a new furnace just under a year old, too. This video was a wallet-saver! Thank you.
Yep, I had decided to try a super expensive filter to help with my kid’s sneezing. After a few cold days our furnace wasn’t keeping up despite the fan sounding healthy. Fast forward - every night for five days, going to bed would be a few degrees colder. I got so tired of being so cold I researched on RUclips and this, the third video, provided the perfect solution! Thank you for making me look like a hero! P.s. Ace Hardware has their low-tech air filters buy three, get one free!
My main limit switch failed overnight. I was able to troubleshoot with the help of your videos. I am guessing it overheated due to my filter being dirty. I also had the 4 light error code and the burners never came on. I tried to tap it but that didn't fix it. Unfortunately I had to call the service guy and it set me back 200 bucks. If it wasn't so cold out right now I could have replaced the switch myself but I couldn't wait a couple days for the replacement. Don't forget to change your filters or it could set you back in money! Great channel I have learned a lot in the past 24 hours of troubleshooting!
just resolved a poorly running electric furnace for my mother in law this morning.. set at 73, only getting to 67. replaced dirty high efficiency 3M filter with a new one and 30 minutes later the thermostat was satisfied and shut off. ur clip is a good one and educational, a lotta folks dont realize how important routine filter changes are and a little bit of knowledge can save you money by avoiding a service call. the service co she called couldnt come for 2 more days so we're pretty glad to have the issue resolved for $10 and a trip over there
THANK YOU AND ANOTHER TIP: My furnace had the same issue, checked the filter and it was very dirty. Replaced it with kirkland 2200 filter and problem did not go away. Did some research and found that my new filter was very dense for my furnace. Switched to light duty MERV 8 Filter and problem was solved. Thanks for making this video.
You saved our night! Dropped to -21 today and our furnace was only blowing cold air no matter how high I was setting the temperature. I surrendered to calling the furnace technician in the morning but then watched this video from our freezing bed. Sprung to action and did both of your suggestions and bam! Now back in our cozy warm room. We get to sleep warmly tonight. Thanks a ton!!
Changing the filter was exactly what needed done! I’m a single woman renting a private home & all the basic maintenance is on me. So my research asking the question of why my thermostat showed everything was ok & it should have been heating with the heat turned up to 70 - brought me to this video. You made it very easy for me to figure it out & within about 30 seconds of changing the air fillet the heat came on! So yeah! Thank you!!
Dude its 5 am my house is 55 when its supposed to be 75. I've watched like 3 of ur videos and I am grateful. I have messed with the limiter yet but if I do its gotta wait till after work. Keep up the great content.
I have a Bryant 80% single stage furnace that is 16 years old. I replaced the one inch filter in my return duct with a newly installed 5 inch air bear with no problems of restrictions or heat loss. In Michigan this year so far our temps went as low as -12. I change the air bear every 5 months. I have been in the automotive maintenance industry for many many years and fully understand the importance of preventative maintenance of especially filtration in all respects. I enjoy reading all comments and am always in a "learning mindset" when reading comments and replies. Just my thoughts.
I had this exact same problem today (furnace set to 73 but only making it to 70) and the problem turned out to be a clogged condenser drain. Popped the drain hose off and a literal gallon of sediment-filled water came out. After doing a bit of research the backed up water was tripping the pressure switch causing the furnace to shut off a minute or two after it turned on each and every time. After draining the water the furnace immediately began working as normal again. Just throwing my experience out there for anyone who has tried to two tips in the video but still has the same problem.
Changing the filter worked!!!! I checked the filter last month when the problem first started, but it didn't seem that dirty so I put it back in. But it was one of those high efficiency filters, so today I decided to replace it anyway and my furnace kicked right on. Thank You!
Those 1” filters are the enemy!!! Clean filter and condenser and you’ve taken care of 90% of problems and wear and tear so you will yes will extend the life of ALL components!!! Well done!
Woke up this morning with -1 temps outside and heat in the house at 64 lalthough I'd set it to 70. Did what you suggested and sure enough it was the filter. Ran without for a while and also turned off for 5 seconds in case it was locked out. It's starting to warm-up! You just saved me a really expensive Sunday service call. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this video! Currently experiencing sub-zero temps where I live and was about to call a furnace repair, as my furnace was not getting close enough to the temp I had set on the gauge. Changed the batteries, but no change. Had marked the filter needing to be changed next month, but followed your advice and changed the filter anyway and presto! Furnace is working like a dream! Thank you! Thank you!
Changed the filter and now I'm enjoying a warm cozy home again. Always change the filter "on time", had about five days to go before it was due. Thank you for this video, so simple if you know what to do! You saved me a costly service call, just to find out I needed to change the darn filter! You are a life saver!
This worked. I'd bought higher level filters to eliminate dust, and it was choking our furnace. You just saved me a ton of money. Wish you good health and prosperity.
DUDE!!!!! You are such the BOSS!!!!!!!! Thanks for saving me -- what?? $1000 for a service call and new blower motor -- or getting sucked into buying a whole new system??? MUCH thanks!!!!
You are my new hero! Sure enough, it was a clogged filter. Once I pulled it, fan/heat resumed normal operation! Thanks so much for the great lesson!!! Saved me a lot of $.
THANK YOU so much! Furnace was cycling and I knew to try the filter first but when I took it out it looked fine and wasn't that old then spent hours trying other things and nothing worked. Then I found your video and your two comments that said sometimes it still looks clean and also that it often happens when very cold and since both of those things are currently true I took it out and slipped in a new one and long story short, now I can cancel the repair visit! Thank you again! Best in 2022 to you!
Great tip. I was having same issues. After watching your video I noticed my old fashion filter was filled with dust. I cleaned them and now heating is working fine. Thx a lot.
So glad i found your video... This yr ive had problems with my furnace...not keeping up to temp...cycling on and off but not really kicking on. Its also the first yr ive used filters that are more solid.....ive had to use space heaters and my dryer vent to keep the house warm...making my utility bill $400 over normal. Im on fixed income and have t been able to get a repairman...because of other things... Because if covid i couldnt find online the filters i usually used that let more air pass thru.... Ive replaced the thermostat... And kept having the problem...
My blower ( gas) was running fine, thermal cupler new, but when I REMOVED the cheaper 2 inch filter which was blocking air flow , it shot up to proper heat instantly..BLESS YOU. I will use slimmer model for heat. never a problem for a/c but I normally use highest quality home depot filters...for pollution
Thanks for explaining the system lockout safety setting, & power shutoff furnace reset. My repeated power resets kept restarting the heating element & burners, but they never stayed on due to the lockout. Just like you said and showed on this video, it was a dirty filter. Will buy lesser priced, less restrictive filters going forward, especially during colder winter months. Thank you!
Yes, perhaps my air filter was the problem. I replaced it last week (after 3 months) with a brand new higher end filter by 3M, but today I came home to a much cooler house (65 degrees Fahrenheit when I normally set the thermostat to 67 or 68 degrees Fahrenheit). So, before watching your video, I switched off the furnace for a few seconds and switched it on again to see it fire up. It ran through the full cycle and the vents warmed up and the home temperature is rising. So, thanks for the advice and of course, if I have this problem again, I'll check and/or replace the filter and if that doesn't do the trick, I'm going to call my furnace guy to assess the situation, but it seems to be running normally again. :)
Great video. By the way my thermostat is same as yours paired with trane single stage AC and single stage gas furnace. I had a similar situation like this about a month ago. I usually keep it about 64 at night when I am sleep and when I am away and at work .. Got off work we had our first really cold snap and I got home the house wouldn't get know warmer than 65 or 66 when I program to start warming the place up 1hr prior to me arriving. I keep at 69 during the day when I am at home. Your video seem to be the most helpful and straightforward I have seen. By the way I am from South USA where it usually brutally cold to about middle of winter that often or any all. Great videos great channel. I can do most of it myself in between my two yearly hvac maintenances visits I recently signed up for my furnace and air conditioner visits from my hvac company. Your videos is really going to really help me save a lot money in terms of repairs and costs in future on certain stuff I can easily do myself. Anyway great job.
same with me, I am in Ontario where we are in a really freezing cold snap and it seemed like the house wasn't quite as warm as normal. This is what it was. Thanks a million.
You are the smartest man I have ever known. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge to help us guys that just need a little help. My wife thinks you are really cool too.
Good work, when I first had the same problem called repair guy, costs me $100 when all he did was replace the filter which I already had in my own basement..never again, ALWAYS change my filter every 3 months.
We had the furnace checked by the tech and ever since we had symptoms exactly as you described. Brought in two other techs and they both complemented how good the filter was. Looks like it was we got too good a filter and it was choking the furnace as you said in your video. Removed the filter and it is working well again! Thanks very much
DUDE! Thank you so much. That was my problem. I had recently put a new filter in and it was one of those super HEPA style. Pulled it out and immediately my furnace kicked on. Thank you for saving me a load of money on a furnace guy!
Thank you very much for your advice, took the filter out of the furnace and it is not stopping anymore. Changed the filter. WOW. Once again, Thank you.
You are a lifesaver. We are down to 5 degrees and it's supposed to go below zero soon (in the Southwest where we're not used to or equipped for blizzards and low temps!!) and it worked! Thank you, thank you!
Do you have any idea how crazy I have been going trying to figure out why my brand new furnace is doing this???! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You have no idea how much you have helped me. I've been trying to figure out why for over a month!!!
Cause some filters are recommended to be changed very often(maybe monthly depending on how inexpensive the filter actually is), and also a ‘ new’ furnace can be as old as 6 or 8 months( the term ‘ new’ can be subjective
Great video! this was exactly my issue. Changed the filter, temperature came up and stabilized at thermostat set temp. Worth noting this happened during a particularly cold spell where the furnace was running a lot.
Yes these premium filters for people with allergies, etc. are great, unless your furnace is old and can't keep up (incompatible). Thanks for the simple heads-up
Yes, that was my problem. Had a premium filter in an older furnace. Even though the filter didn't look all that dirty, I replaced it anyway and viola, my furnace is working beautifully.
a company here in my town said it is better to use the thinner cheaper filters and change them real often, this saves your unit, but, you must change real often........
My last comment was just don’t make the customer think they can solve all their problem with a filter.even though it’s a very common problem. All that aside you should cover a topic with me here that a ton of tech disagree on. That is the use of uv lights in systems to eliminate fungus mildews and what not. Here’s my take on those. I’ve installed these lights on systems with some extremely good success rates when installed properly. I had a customer once that was suffering from allergies very bad in the home. About 2 years prior to that they had a water heater burst in the mechanical room where the furnace was located. They began to grow a mold inside the unit. Thus allergies began too for them. I called the customer down to the basement to see what I had found in their furnace. It was all inside the unit around the walls of the unit and into the duct supply . They questioned me about how to eliminate it without buying a new system and duct. We only have a few things in our arsenal to use for something like that. One is a cleaning kit you can buy and use to eliminate that . The other is a uv light. Here was the result the next maintenance time. I show up to change the bulbs out because they bought the one year bulbs. Turn off everything and pop it open. What was left of the mold was a dead white powder. In the duct and inside the furnace . Now keep in mind I did also use the clean kit to kill as much of that as I could right off. There was still some left that I could not really get to . All of it dead and turned white nothing was left behind and the allergies stopped. We used a two bulb mount up light system one mounted inside the duct and one over the fan area near the coil . So in essence both sides of the coil. Worked great and the customer is still very pleased with that system today. If you’ve never used one I absolutely recommend it.unless you have a up or ozone reaction then probably not so good maybe use the cleaning kit and hope that solves it. Otherwise this is extremely effective on stuff like that.
I buy the cheap filters 4 for $5.00 ... I change them every month on the first of the month. I live in the mountains and only need a furnace, so I just change them in the winter months. The air up here is very clean and minimal dust. The expensive multi-pleated filters restrict airflow. Also, I have a wood stove that I fire-up on the very cold days to supplement. I don't have to use the woodstove but it's nice to cook chili on and have a nice fire to sit around in the evening. Kinda makes you look forward to those chilly evenings sitting by the fire with your hot coffee and your warm honey.... Life's good.
I changed the filter before leaving home (thankfully there was an extra one right by the furnace -moved into our home May2020 as a first time homeowner and never changed the filter 😩😬 needless to say it was super dirty!!!!) so whether it works or not thanks for the reminder that I need to change that thing!
You have to mention running cheap filters in the winter, having outlets restricted and in the case of us in the north, make up air- blend door problems.
Your videos are always excellent and to the point I have turned to your site for help with my ac unit which always helps fix the problem and if I am having a heating issue your site is the first one I turn too. Keep up the awesome work take care and stay healthy!! 👍
Thank you for showing this video. I just bought this model and I did not like it because of two reasons: No batteries need and the temperature sensor is two degree off (lower) than actual temperature.
Thanks for your videos, they have been most helpful. Our furnace has been on the fritz for the last 1-2 years (every since we bought the house). The furnace is currently 24 years old and we know it can't last too much longer. Well we have a home warranty ($125/per service call) and they have been out five times in the last two years and every time they come out they just check the filter, return ducts, clean the flame sensor (they have replaced it twice so far) and check to see the temperature that the furnace is putting out. It usually works okay for a bit but it seems like it is never keeping up. I've changed the filter and also removed the filter but the same sequence of operations keeps happening. The furnace will work properly for anywhere from 3-5 minutes then shuts off. If I go upstairs and bring the thermostat (honeywell) back down to the level of the house(wait for it to click) then raise the temperature the furnace will again come on and repeat the same cycle. The furnace seems to put out a lot of hot air but our house can never warm up past 68-70 because it is always repeating this cycle. It is getting frustrating with our Minnesota winters I hate to keep calling them out when they don't really do anything, do you know what the fix could be?
Well I've checked the continuity and voltage on the limit switch and everything checked out normal. Even with filter out of the unit it still goes into the overheating mode. Not sure what else to check.
@@trinityrv4683 It's possible that the high limit switch is weak so it keeps tripping even though the furnace is not overheating. From what you described, I wouldn't be able to give you a good answer though. Could be quite a few things.. When the burners shut off like that (or it "overheats"), does the control board blink an error code?
Hmm.. I would try replacing that hi-limit switch then. I can't say for sure that it will fix it though.. Right now I am working on a video on 10 reasons why a furnace can overheat. Sorry I can't post it any sooner, it will still take at least 3 days to complete. But maybe that video will have some useful information for you.
Hi,Jay, I am sure this is case why furnace locks out. Like you said especially in cold weather. When I try to put the front cover back, sucking force is strong.Thank you so much.
You're welcome! Good luck with all those furnace calls man! :) Oh and I can leave you with one more tip if you are not doing this already... Whenever I have intermittent problems like that, where I come to the house and the furnace is working fine.. I always explain the diagnostic/error LED light on the control board to the homeowner and show them where to find the diagnostic chart on the back of the furnace door or in the manual. I then instruct them to write down whatever code the furnace is blinking if the problem ever comes back. That way when I come and everything is working fine, they can tell me that when it wasn't working it was blinking such and such error code. Hope that helps in the future!
Thank you so much for this. I had the same problem and tried your solution and it worked like a charm!! -28 f today in Canada and I need a love button cause u saved us
I have a similar problem, however, it’s the cooling system that seems to be stuck at room temperature and it’s taking for ever to lower my set temperature degree. For example, I set my AC temperature to,let’s say 78 degrees during the day and at nighttime it’s set to, let say 70 degrees, the lowering process, from 78 to 70 degrees is taking a very long time (hours) to reach 70 degrees temperature settings. I must add that I keep my HVAC system very well maintained, no less than twice a year a complete maintenance and I change the filters every three months. I appreciate and welcome any suggestion provided. Thank you. Ps. What is the meaning and function of the different levels of the HVAC settings ie, H1C1 ,2, 3, and 4.
Thanks for the video. I've been doing almost all my own repairs for over 60 years but I'm not up to speed on these electronic systems. So, I just learned about the lockout feature and solved my problem. You saved me and expensive service call to take care of a simple matter. Had I thought about it longer, I might have realized it was necessary to "reboot" the system, but finding this saved me the effort.
I've never changed the filter before my landlord always does don't come for me loll. But my heater wasn't working right and here it was the filter. So thank you.
Great video. I encountered this recently, where the aux was triggered due to below freezing temps but would not get to desired temp. I changed the filter - nothing; made sure the duct dampers were open; checked all basement registers were closed. Then it dawned on me after vetting the heat strip was working as it should, the basement door, directly across from the thermostat, was left open. Doh! Closed the basement door - problem solved.
Can similar symptoms happen (but less consistently) if the overheat sensor is going bad? My furnace will occasionally shut itself off until I turn its power off and on again. It happens maybe once a day and is worse on colder days. Filter is brand new and this still happens.
It was my filter also! I had not changed in years. Looked like a blanket. Very important...those expensive filters that are for allergens are a gimmick! They restrict airflow. Get the thin blue ones.
So, ran some of these tests and it wasn't my air filter or the thermostat unit. It was my water drain hose from the furnace. The hose was tangled. I untangled the hose and unplugged it to drain a lot of water out. Then I straightened out the hose and made sure it was in a downward slope to drain the water out properly. Now my furnace is running smooth again and the house is back to cozy warm. 😃
Thanks so much for info great advice. I had a major concern with my furnace only 4 yrs old Looked at filter it was all sucked down. I felt that wasn’t right since I had never had a filter do that. Changed filter . Furnace working much better! Thanks so much! Great help to a female on her own.
U explained so well.thank u for keeping it simply. Iam getting a filter tommrrow as it is 11 at night.will let u know what happens.fingers crossed.its 30 degrees right now so hope a simply filter does the trick.
Glad you found it easy to follow along :) Just in case you have a stuck hi-limit switch, I would watch this video too: ruclips.net/video/pJzP1jzYPqg/видео.html My furnace was just recently overheating again so I made that video to show how I fixed it.
This was a great video for me my furnace has been turning off every couple days. It makes total sense I go up there I reset the power for an hour it resets the furnace and it continues to work. My problem is that it is done it more often in the last week.
I changed about every sensor on my furnace nothing worked. I tried what you said and took the filter out and everything started working fine. It was a new filter that was suppose to keep out more allergen. It was shortly after putting it this higher end filter that the furnace had problems. Blows my mind that I simply had to downgrade my filter
Amazing! I think this was my problem. I watch several videos about how to change the batteries... which I did. But it was odd that my display on thermostat was lit and seemed to be functioning. I changed my filter and turned off and turned in that switch that I had no idea was even there. Immediately my furnace turned on and within a minute it was blowing warm air. I think my furnace was overheating and turning off as a safety mechanism to avoid failure. Thank you soooo much. Hopefully in the morning my air temp will match my set temp.
People make sure you can use a higher MERV filter.. some people may only be able to use a cheaper filter.. also a good tip.. use a bigger filter.. so it's easier to grab..sometimes when filters get that dirty they can be sucked into the blower squirrel cage.
Thank you for the tip. It helped with everything but there was 1 underlying issue. The wind is blowing super hard and it is forcing the carbon monoxide back down into the unit causing the sensor to trip the unit! Fix? Wait until the wind isn’t howling. :(
It is 5 degrees here this morning and my Thermostat is saying 60° in the house even though it is turned up to seventy. I changed the filter it was a little dirty amd I could tell that there was more air flow after. How long sould it take for the house to warm back up? Google says about a degree an hour does that sound right
MAN, YOUR FURNACE VIDEOS HAVE BEEN SO INFORMATIVE! I HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL. TODAY IS CHRISTMAS SO EVERYTHING IS CLOSED SO I CAN’T REPLACE MY FILTER BUT I DID REMOVE IT AND MY FURNACE IS KEEPING UP/ THE TEMP IS CLIMBING. I WILL REPLACE IT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING 16/20/1 FILTER NEEDED.
Great video ty I hv question??? Is your heating Thermostat a Honeywell? Your Gage on your wall looks like the one I hv, I’m hving same problem!! Wth room temp reading diff from temp tht set!!! It’s not batteries, I took gage off wall & 1 of the pins snapped off, would tht cause a problem with the heat not working at all??? Plz help!!! Ty desperate & frezn !!
My limit switch keeps tripping but not locking out the furnace. The filter is brand new and clean. Switch still trips without filter. I verified this is the switch that is tripping by using a multimeter and seeing the 24v when it tripped. I have taken temp rise and it is well within specified limits. I also opened all my registers in the house, checked continuity of the limit switch and it was good. I used a jumper to keep the furnace running and removed the limit switch and took a temp reading in the port. It didn't hit the 200F spec of the switch before it tripped again. I replace the limit switch and it is still tripping. Not sure where to look next. Any suggestions?
Hello. l really love your videos they are so informative and well explained. l have a 20 years old HVAC and when l set the heat to let's say 70 the temperature in the house drops 4-5 sometimes 7 degrees for it to start . Any idea what it could be any kind of sensor going bad ?
The first things that come to mind are: - Furnace is overheating (try replacing filter even if it looks clean) - It could be the pressure switch opening (when the furnace is not turning on after it drops 2 degrees, look if there is an error code blinking on the furnace control board) - Thermostat issues. Could be the programming, weak batteries, or like you said a bad sensor in the thermostat. (Try putting the thermostat on "HOLD", replace batteries, bypass thermostat to see if it needs to be replaced. I have videos on this if you need them) Hope that helps narrow it down for you and gives you more ideas of what to check. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!
For the past 2 winters, my furnace does not work on days when it gets below 30... HVAC said that I needed to cut a new hole in the ceiling for more airflow. Had this house for 15 yrs without a problem. Replaced the furnace with a Trane 6 yrs ago.... Is he right about the ceiling or should I get a second opinion?
One chilly night later...this IS the issue! I pulled the filter out and lo and behold...HEAT! Glorious heat. I can’t believe replacing the filter worked, but it did. Amazing.
pro trick: watch movies at Flixzone. Been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Pedro Will definitely, I have been watching on flixzone} for years myself :)
I like your video, help a lot of people to solve the problems
This worked. I'd bought higher level filters to eliminate dust, and it was choking our furnace. You just saved me a ton of money. Wish you good health and prosperity.
Yes, our furnace repair guy told us to use the cheap filters cause high quality ones are not letting airflow go through properly
Thx a lot.
Wow change the filter as you are supposed to and it works. What a miracle
Who woulda thunk it!...........Often the simplest fix is what will fix the problem. Well done..Thanks
It’s much better advice than greedy tech/companies who are waiting for these moments to rip you off. Thanks
I put in new batteries , changed the filter , so far working great . Thanks .
Excellent! Glad to hear that. Stay warm!

You are a savant! Air flow was my issue and it was a brand new high end filter. Back to the 1500’s for me.
same with me, I am in Ontario where we are in a really freezing cold snap and it seemed like the house wasn't quite as warm as normal. This is what it was. Thanks a million.
You are the smartest man I have ever known. Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge to help us guys that just need a little help. My wife thinks you are really cool too.
you're the best on RUclips on furnaces and air conditions that I know. you explain it very well
Good work, when I first had the same problem called repair guy, costs me $100 when all he did was replace the filter which I already had in my own basement..never again, ALWAYS change my filter every 3 months.
We had the furnace checked by the tech and ever since we had symptoms exactly as you described. Brought in two other techs and they both complemented how good the filter was. Looks like it was we got too good a filter and it was choking the furnace as you said in your video. Removed the filter and it is working well again! Thanks very much
Glad to hear the video helped! :) Thank you for sharing your experience with that, stay warm!!
Dude you are a lifesaver....Thought my furnace was going out it was a loose dirty filter that needed Changing
Happy to hear that! Easy fixes are always welcome!
Looked everywhere to figure out where the filter was to change it, never owned a furnace or a home before... this helped a bunch lol
Never mind
Still can’t find it... lol 😂
Single handed fixed my furnace 3 or 4 times from watchinv tjis dude he knows his stuff
But why would a brand new furnace already have a dirty filter?
Cause some filters are recommended to be changed very often(maybe monthly depending on how inexpensive the filter actually is), and also a ‘ new’ furnace can be as old as 6 or 8 months( the term ‘ new’ can be subjective
Great video! this was exactly my issue. Changed the filter, temperature came up and stabilized at thermostat set temp. Worth noting this happened during a particularly cold spell where the furnace was running a lot.
Yep, that was it! I was afraid that I needed a new thermostat or something expensive, this was an easy fix. Thanks!
Happy to hear it was an easy fix! Those are always nice :) Stay warm!
Experiencing this problem now, Great job with the video, much better than several others I have seen. Keep up the good work. Thanks
I wanted to say thank you so much my filter was small as soon as I changed it the furnace kicked on sweet
I think the new air filter did the trick! It's going to be below zero tomorrow, so thank you!!!
Good to hear! Stay warm :)
Thank you for this video!!! In Texas and the temp just went from 50 to 19. I was worried but you really helped out a lot!!!
That sounds awesome! I'm happy to hear life is good! :) Thanks for sharing!
You just saved me over $100 on a service call, thank you.
He just cost you a new furnace in 3 years. Better yet just take the filter out and run the furnace ! It will heat great for a short time !
WOW it that fixed my problem. Just changed my air filter NOW I have HEAT😱.
Thx for the video.
Worked for me and probably saved me a small fortune. Thanks so much.
Thx a lot, I removed the filter and checked, within 10 minutes the temperature increased, thx a lot 🙏❤️, my wife thinks I am a genius 🤣🤣
Thank you! Short, and to the point! Very helpful! I JUST replaced my filter! Oh! You just said it! Get a crappy filter!!
Thank you for showing this video. I just bought this model and I did not like it because of two reasons: No batteries need and the temperature sensor is two degree off (lower) than actual temperature.
Im in a cold house early in morning now blowing heat because of you thank you!!
@@WordofAdviceTV Yes it gives me the 4 flashes for high limit switch error code.
@@WordofAdviceTV Sounds Great. In the mean time I will replace the hi-limit switch and see if that helps. Thanks.
Good info. Buy the cheaper filters, change often and your furnace will run more heat efficient at less cost. Great video!!
Thank you for watching and commenting! :)
@@WordofAdviceTV You are totally right. Thank you
Thank you so much for this. I had the same problem and tried your solution and it worked like a charm!! -28 f today in Canada and I need a love button cause u saved us
Glad to hear that! Stay warm :)
Thank you for all your tips, have a blessed day.
This was the best video ever!!!!! Super clear and concise… Thank you
DUUUUUDE THIS IS EXACTLY the problem I had!! It was the filter!! Dude you're the best thank you sooo much. Liked and Subscribed!
Same!!
It was my filter also! I had not changed in years. Looked like a blanket. Very important...those expensive filters that are for allergens are a gimmick! They restrict airflow. Get the thin blue ones.
Today u are god to me and my family. I have been having that exact problem. Thank u soo much.
Happy to hear you were able to get it fixed! :) Stay warm!
Changing the filter worked like a champ, that's what the problem was..
Gotta love the nice easy fix! :) Stay warm!
Thank you so much for sharing this invaluable information... it will probably save me also the cost of a service visit!!
Thanks so much for info great advice. I had a major concern with my furnace only 4 yrs old Looked at filter it was all sucked down. I felt that wasn’t right since I had never had a filter do that. Changed filter . Furnace working much better! Thanks so much! Great help to a female on her own.
Happy to hear the video helped! Stay warm :)
Well done troubleshooting.
Thank you so much for helping me...this was the best advice...i will change the filter once every two months also...
You're welcome! :) Stay warm!
Mines does that. I noticed it works just fine on warmer days when it's not below freezing outside.
U explained so well.thank u for keeping it simply. Iam getting a filter tommrrow as it is 11 at night.will let u know what happens.fingers crossed.its 30 degrees right now so hope a simply filter does the trick.
Glad you found it easy to follow along :) Just in case you have a stuck hi-limit switch, I would watch this video too: ruclips.net/video/pJzP1jzYPqg/видео.html
My furnace was just recently overheating again so I made that video to show how I fixed it.
Blows my mind that I simply had to downgrade my filter
what a easy solution you gave. thanks for your tips.
How do you if your furnace is big enough for a house ?? Thanks for you video buddy.
Thanks. That just saved a couple hundred dollar service call.
Great video ty
I hv question??? Is your heating Thermostat a Honeywell?
Your Gage on your wall looks like the one I hv, I’m hving same problem!!
Wth room temp reading diff from temp tht set!!!
It’s not batteries, I took gage off wall & 1 of the pins snapped off,
would tht cause a problem with the heat not working at all???
Plz help!!!
Ty
desperate & frezn !!
The first things that come to mind are:
- Furnace is overheating (try replacing filter even if it looks clean)
- It could be the pressure switch opening (when the furnace is not turning on after it drops 2 degrees, look if there is an error code blinking on the furnace control board)
- Thermostat issues. Could be the programming, weak batteries, or like you said a bad sensor in the thermostat. (Try putting the thermostat on "HOLD", replace batteries, bypass thermostat to see if it needs to be replaced. I have videos on this if you need them)
Hope that helps narrow it down for you and gives you more ideas of what to check. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!
Ok is there a control in the furnace to adjust and make the flow warmer, some furnace are dual gas and has a control?
Awesome was about to get a new thermostat. Nice video I bet your getting a loud of views in the winter 🥶!!
