Well, basically their sound can be mostly summed up as a combo of 80s inspired atmospheric synth pop/rock and something closer to metal. So you weren't wrong.

Great reaction! Great song also! It's always great to have some The Birthday Massacre music in your day! The idea of the video was that this was a sound check before a show with the sound guy. I think the general idea of the lyrics has to do with life being fleeting and you only having one. Notice the reference to us “climbing Jacob’s ladder” as in climbing the ladder to heaven, and the lyrics referring to life being like “smoke on a mirror” and “dying slowly”.
