As a jazz enthusiast, I've really learnt a lot from this lesson. Especially the "correct" application of chromatic notes rather than just doing it by feel. Cheers and cheers to jazz!
Interesting but I struggle to make this in real time when improving a walking bass line. So I do mostly with chord tones, scale notes and a few chromatisms. But I'm unable to target a specific chord tone on the right beat in real time, all this while not getting lost in the chord progression.
Yep I understand that. That’s why it’s best to start them off as set phrase that one works with chord tones, scale notes and chromatics on set beats of the bar… the over time the placement will become more natural and instinctive
Thanks for the tips James. I’d like more on Jazz bass soloing.
Sure thing! I'm glad you found the tips helpful. Cheers!
I don't particularly want to play jazz but know it's what can make a bass player good, so jazz instructionals are appreciated. More to come?
Definitely! Will share more jazz instructional content soon. Stay tuned!

Hmmm…I wish you would’ve played this to a song, so I could see how this works in context to what you are showing us.
