Nice - Metallic Sea Foam Green sounds really cool. I just googled it as an Eprit, can't find any pics must have been a real rare one. I'll bet it looks super cool too 😎👌
@stevecassidyguitar I couldn't find any pics on it either. I found a green one, but it was darker. It was also 38 ish years ago so,... but I'm pretty sure it was seafoam green it had that faint glitter to it like most of the colors of the day. It almost looked like a pearl color.
Thank you for introducing me to this model. I really like it. I don't know why, especially since I've never tried an American build guitar - but, I would rather have an Epiphone, or a Squier than an over priced Fender or Gibson. I doubt they're that much better. I'll keep an eye out for one of these.😍

Very Cool, Thankyou Steve. Congrats on 1k. Stunning looking and sounding Guitar and playing as always. The top on the 'New' one is amazing. All the Best. Cheers
Now, that's a good lookin' Squibson! Made in Korea does mean quality. My Epiphone LP Standard is a 94 made in Korea. Tis great! (Heavy, though!) Most of my guitars are over-hyped Harley Bentons, so the "under rated" thing doesn't apply! CHeers, Steve!
Thanks mate - That's 100% been my experience with MIK guitars. Especially that 2012 Epi Plus Top Pro I got my hands on recently - quality stuff for sure 😎👌
Interesting. I didn't know about this model but I like it. Got a bit of a revstar vibe albeit a bit less angular. Nerdy point - it's not just mustangs and Jaguars that Fender do in 24" scale length, there was a short lived modern player strat and tele both with 7/8 bodies and 24" scales (I have one of these and until the Fusion-t was my no 1 guitar.) I think Fender are doing a Japanese version of these 24" strats again at £1K+. I wish I could get the old modern player 24" scale tele but their like gold dust now. But I do think the Esprit and Starcaster are gems though. Great video (Ps I subscribed ages ago when the subscription price was cheap - ie before you were famous)
Ha! Thanks for the pre-discount sub mate 😃👍 I didn't know about the 24" strat - great info - cheers! I'm surprised I didn't know as I've got/had 3 modern players (Starcaster and thinking tele) and loved that series. Interestingly that entire series necks (25.5" scale) are incompatible with almost all other fenders as they have 22 frets without the overhang. I found that out the hard way 🙈
Hi Love your videos...love also the sound u get out of your gigging amp..i usually dont pay attn to stuff like that..but you get a great sound..tho i am more of a Gibson guy..I remember when these squiers came out ..they also put out 22 fret strats with alnico pups. like the american std...and I had one..I would keep them both as they are probally the best best built squiers..Well keep up the videos and Rock On..Thanks..Dave
Aww mate! Thank ya very much Dave 😀🙏 And Re the sound.. that means a lot - I'm still working on trying to make it come across better on the videos. But.. Very interesting video mate. I’m not actually familiar with these guitars. But It’s sounds great. Looks good. And if it works for you then that’s all that matters, right? 😎 Love the ‘Like A Gibson’ overdubs 🤣👏👏👏
Have never encountered this guitar before. I own several Squiers, bought my first one about twenty years ago. Here's a rare Squier model for you: Ryan Jarman signature model.
Ah! The ole Squier MusUar? That certainly is a rare beast - I reckon the value of those will continue to increase over time. I remember I liked the purple-ish colour.. a lot. (Heading over to eBay now🙈)
The headstock will grow on you with time...maybe. it's a nice unique guitar and sounds grrrr8! You have the nicest colour that they offered. Imo some Squiers are better than some fenders or just as good for a lot less coin. The fret inlays are like on my new Yamaha Revstar...different. Aww mate - You're far too kind - Thank ya! 😀🙏 I don't hate the headstock - just love the Fender shaped one 😁 I'll need to check out a Revstar at some point - not heard a single negative review

@stevecassidyguitar I agree the Fender logo definately helps. I have the Rss20 Standard, I wanted the stainless steel frets as I'm a bit hard on the frets, I'm a thrasher lol.
I like the Antique Burst, but in this case, I would pick the Wine Satin finish. The one you just purchased has a beautiful top. Good to see you hit 1k subs :) And Yes, you should play more!
Thanks mate 😀👍 Ya know.. anytime I spend a few seconds looking at each of those finishes - I'm convinced by either one 🙈 I generally don't go for black guitars but the black Esprit has a super classy look about it too 🤷♂️
Oof thats nice, sounds mint and looks great. All it needs now is the fancy pants wiring to parallel/coil split & out of phase the pickups ;) Some tasty playing there too sir :) 400-500 is a steal for such a nicely built thing, nicely done :)
Aww thank ya very much mate! 😀🙏 So.. something not mentioned in the vid... The original (older) one I have - already had coil splits (I thought that was how they came stock). But I remember my tech years ago saying the wiring inside it was "weird". This "new" one that's mint, doesn't have splits - so they must come stock without. But I already know how great it sounds split - so... that's defo in the post 😁👍

Nice one mate! I hope ya love it! - I certainly love mine 😃👍 I'm not a big fan of neck humbuckers in general, but this one is an exception, one of the best Neck HB's I ever tired 😎👌 Let me know how ya get on with it 😃👍
Ah yeah I remember those too! Great shout mate 😀👍 Very similar specs to the Esprit. I think the main difference is it's a sold body. The Esprit is heavily chambered to the point it's practically considered a semi-hollow (without F holes). and the Esprit just looks a bit more premium with the arch top, inlays and binding. I'll keep an eye out for an M80 though - you can still find those for quite cheap 😀👍
Check an M77 if you can find one. Often mistaken for a Fender Squier Les Paul it is a single cut based on a 1955 Guild Aristocrat ( long story). Mahongany set neck, Duncan JB style pickups. Awesome guitar! I do not play mine enough as it is quite heavy but I will never sell it!
I just did - after reading your previous comment. Great find mate 😀👍 I'm keeping an eye out for one now. There's one on Reverb - a wee bit more than I'd be willing to pay at this point though 😬
I really like this guitar but it's not something I would normally think about buying. Though there has been a les Paul shaped hole in my heart recently. I do wish it came in different colors - mapley natural or honey burst would be more up my alley. The headstock is pretty sweet since it gives a straight angle to the nut. My favorite underrated guitar might be my Vintage Zip. Supposedly super cheap when it was new, danelectro meets Les Paul Junior in silver sparkle that has aged into a bronzey gold. I need to get around to replacing the pots in mine.
Awesome! both of your finish suggestions would look killer! 😎👍 Just googled your Vintage Zip - that's a super Glam/Funk looking guitar! Very cool indeed! 😀👌
Definitely more playing, Steve! 🎸 Great tones from those Duncan Designed humbuckers! Fender / Squier certainly don’t mind copying from the big G - maybe they should take a leaf out of Epiphone’s book and say “Inspired by Gibson” 😉 Fender has been doing it for decades, since the Telecaster Deluxe days and didn’t F & G take ideas from Paul Bigsby?
Thank ya kindly mate! 😀🙏 I'd love to know if they used these particular pickups in anything else (or... basically.. if I could find more 🙈) "Inspired by Gibson" would be hilarious 🤣👍 I didn't know about the Bigsby idea pinching - I'll have to look that up 😁👍 Cheerd mate 🍻
@@derekclacton Very interesting stuff - just had a look now. Not too in depth but it looks like that original headstock design was inspired by notation? Like a cartoon crotchet. Cheers for the education 😎👍
Ah yeah! I know the m-80 also part of the top notch master series 😎👌 A bit different in design though, not just smaller, but it's a solid body instead of semi hollow/chambered. It's flat and not an arch top and doesn't have the binding. Still very cool though. And smaller "usually" means lighter - so that's a bonus 😃👍
Very interesting guitar but seems to be a bit of a rarity and at £500 a bit tough. I'll keep an eye out for one. BTW for modding my jet guitars HSS I came across Iron Gear pups available from axetec who also supply lots of bits n pieces (wiring rigs, switched etc) to upgrade your guitars. I heard of them from youtube channels like the studio rats who rated them. Also they are really inexpensive! Cheers mate.
Thanks Paul 😀👍 Yes mate I got lucky with this one at £400 on ebay - absolutely immaculate too. I think I paid £300 for the first one 😬. and yeah the Iron gears are legit! I've got sets in both my Harley Benton Fusions and a Jailhouse Rail 2 in the bridge of my Fender partscaster. I actually prefered the IG rolling mill over the Seymour Duncan JB
I have a black one and absolutely love it. it's very well built MIK. fantastic guitar. I'm glad I picked one up as they're not easy to find in this condition these days. I replaced the duncan designed pups w/Suhr Thornbuckers and it made a drastic difference.
Wow mate! I'll bet it sounds killer with those pickups 😎👌The black one looks super classy too 👍 I've never been a big fan of humbuckers in general, especially in the neck position, but the neck stock pickup on the Esprit, might be my most favourite - ever! 😃
The Antique Burst looks better in the squier than the cherry burst in the fender. I think the Esprit has the best Headstock shape of all squiers (but the fender has a nice one). I don't think that Squier will re-issue these, because those are not very far away compared to the Gretsch Electronic Jets, that are also in the product portfolio of Fender. Those Chambered Jets can also be very resonant and have brighter Pickups than Gibsons.
I totally agree - The Fender Esprit cherry burst is just a wee bit too... much 😁 When it comes to Re-issues... Ya never know, I might just have a vid in the works about that Re the Starcasters 🤫 I totally want to try out one of those Gretsch Duo Jets - very much the sound I'm drawn to more and more these days - great shout! 😎👍
It was considered to be a real money sink. The MIJ original series didn't sell well on release. Robben Ford love 'em, but not a great seller and rather expensive to produce. 20yrs later, Fender does notice that the Esprit and Flame MIJ guitars do trade respectably on the used market, so gave it a shot as a reissue; built by CORT Korea. Sold OK, but WAY under priced vs production costs. Eastwood guitars makes their version and it is called Esprit.
@@dinein1970 Thanks for this insight mate - did not know how it was perceived economically at the time 😀👍 It seems all my favourite alternative Fender designs tank 🙈 (Starcaster, Esprit, Flame). This style of guitar is not for me, but i can understand why some find them desirable. Mention the name Squire and you think of a Strat, the best ones were made many years ago in Japan and the prices today reflect that. Any guitars made in Korea and i have a few are also highly regarded, the Indonesian ones are hit or miss. but are Ok if you buy a good sample and upgrade them.. The Chinese ones make me swear!
🤣 I hear ya! I'll find an excuse to mod anything - but this one needs nothing (well maybe a coil split 🙈). But yeah that's the thing - I know it's not a Single Cut, and that style of guitar has never did it for me either. But these have some inexplainable mojo - both of them! 😐 Different strokes for different folks though eh 😀
I think that for some players the style of guitar that moves them to buy one changes over the years. That must make me a bit different, i have tried bought and sold all the various styles and only S style guitars remain desirable. The only one i have kept but never play it is an Harley Benton CST24, a poor mans PRS as some would call it, and yes i have had two PRS SE24's and just couldn't bond with them. So about the playing: I never had the feeling you were not playing enough. I fact a lot of gear/guitar youtubers totally overdo it. I'm here to get intersting facts, opinions and inspiration. If I want to watch/hear someone playing guitar... Well there a a ton of videos with people doing exactly that. Also I feel you just can't evaluate the tone/sound of any electrical amplified instrument by watching a video on YT. Of course you can tell a difference when it's played unplugged like you did to show the difference in acoustic response. But as soon as something is plugged in there are so many factors influencing the sound it just makes no sense. Amp, speaker, mic (or simulations of those things) and of course the speaker of the system you're watching the video with. I assume not very many people are using studio monitors to watch YT. To judge the tone of the guitar you needed to record it with a DI box and everyone had to reamp the file in their own (familiar) setup. After all you can make any guitar sound gread or shit depending on your skills dialing in and the quality of your setup.
I agree with 100% of what you said... 100% 😁👍 I would rather play as little as possible on the vids. Just enough to get the point across (as much as you can through this medium, given all the other factors/variables you mentioned.) But.. I have had more than a few comments suggesting, for me to play more. I'm reluctant to do so. Mainly due to a lack in self confidence - but I am acutely aware of this. So even though I'd rather not play more, it might not be a bad thing for me (as a musician) to put more out there. Demo/"Artist"/Self improvement conflict 🙈 It would certainly make the content easier and less time consuming to produce if I played less. Anyway mate... thank ya so much for your thoughts and feedback - Hugely appreciate you giving your time 😀👍
@@stevecassidyguitar Well you give your time for me as well, I'm just returning the favor. Also you still are 'small' enough that a real conversation can take place and sharing of concepts and ideas can take place. I don't think you should lack confidence depending your guitar skills. I never had a feeling you're not good enough. Playing more will help you as a musician of course. And if it's what the majority demands you can might give it to them. Keep in miond it's your channel and you do what you want to. I think the channels growth is a sign that you are doing something right.

I played a Squire Esprit for the entirety of my band's existence. We played everything from reggae to hardcore, punk to funk, hip hop to metal and hard to soft rock. This guitar did it all and did it all well. I highly reccomend
Just found your channel, nice one. I've fancied one of those for a while. I will get one one day. I love squiers and currently have 5. My MusicMaster Vista series is a great guitar. I think I they only produced them for a year or two. Best coil split I've heard yet. Cheers I'll definitely keep watching.

Totally mate - The MIK Squier stuff has always been top notch (ime) 😀👌
That's 2 quite rare Squier models there
I just found this video. I found, when new, a Fender Esprit in a metallic seafoam green. I couldn't afford it then, but I have always wanted one. Its definitely a bucket list guitar.

Thank ya kindly mate! This one is a keeper for sure 😁👍
Ha! Thanks for the pre-discount sub mate 😃👍
I didn't know about the 24" strat - great info - cheers!

And Re the sound.. that means a lot - I'm still working on trying to make it come across better on the videos. But.. I'm actually using the Line 6 Stomp XL (for giigging and most of the vids)😬 I just went ampless last year.
Still rocking out my Fender Mustang iii amp at home though 😀👍

The Antique Burst looks better in the squier than the cherry burst in the fender.
I think the Esprit has the best Headstock shape of all squiers (but the fender has a nice one).
I don't think that Squier will re-issue these, because those are not very far away compared to the Gretsch Electronic Jets, that are also in the product portfolio of Fender.
Those Chambered Jets can also be very resonant and have brighter Pickups than Gibsons.

Sold OK, but WAY under priced vs production costs.

and the prices today reflect that.

the years.
That must make me a bit different, i have tried bought and sold all the various styles
and only S style guitars remain desirable.

I would rather play as little as possible on the vids. Just enough to get the point across (as much as you can through this medium, given all the other factors/variables you mentioned.)
But.. I have had more than a few comments suggesting, for me to play more.
I'm reluctant to do so. Mainly due to a lack in self confidence - but I am acutely aware of this.
So even though I'd rather not play more, it might not be a bad thing for me (as a musician) to put more out there.
Demo/"Artist"/Self improvement conflict 🙈
It would certainly make the content easier and less time consuming to produce if I played less.
@@tostrmofo6686 You've got all the wisdom mate! Much appreciated 😀👍
I've just hit 1k subs today though - so there's gonna be a lot of changes. Currently trying to figure out where to install the pool in my back garden to swim in all this YT cash 🤑😜
@@stevecassidyguitar I've been told swimming in cash is not that easy.
Depending on what your goal is with YT you'll have a load of work in front of you. If you want to go full time and earn a living off of it you might be able to pull it off. Your content is interesting enough. But there also are a boatload of people doing very similar things, so it often comes down to personal preference. But as long as you stick to your guns and keep being honest you're in a good spot to take on the journey. I honestly don't have an idea how many subscribers are needed to support a 'bit better than average' lifestyle, and it surely depends on many other factors, but I can only imagine it being a lot.
@@tostrmofo6686 Thanks for the vote of confidence mate! 😀🙏 Apologies for late response - catching up on missed comments now.
I have it in my head that 60k subs is around liveable. So many different factors though. For now I'm still in the sharing my interests mode. Not thinking YT career 😅
Weclome 🙂
Oooooh! Didn't think anyone would spot that one - well done mate! 🕵️😁👌
