I tried the original player series HSS. Very good, but I prefer some of the cheaper alternatives these days. A Jet JS400 with a couple of minor upgrades is a Fender Killer imo 😁👌 I'd still like to try the HSS player ii tho

Matter of fact I’ve checked those guitars at my local guitar store, and I kinda liked them but they didn’t have them in stock (guess why?😝) so I’ve found one on marketplace! However Before I bought it I’ve checked all your videos as they are objectively the most complete reviews on YT! I’ve had a mim standard strat (MY 2010) with the N3 noiseless set I’ve put a lot of effort to make this guitar to an enjoyable playing level!! They definitely they don’t even come close when it comes to comparing them!

I mentioned in the individual review of the ST Modern that this one does not stay in tune. I don't think locking tuners are Lazy. they're definitely more convenient, but for me, they're a godsend if I break a string at a gig and need to change it rapid 😁👍 I've never made any claims they're better for holding tuning 🤷‍♂️

@@stevecassidyguitar yes ...i agree with what youve stated in your response..as far as breakin string at gig ,i always had another ax .for me anyhow, if it wont hold tune its basically useless.doesnt matter if its a prs ,a gibson, or a player series..but i have been told that i do punish guitars, soif i get one i trust,ill refret, refit bridges, pickups. saves wastin money on guitars ill just wreck like that jet 850 and the prestige.all th best x

Sorry mate. Hard to judge without seeing it and taking some measurements 😬 It depends where the buzzing is happening too. If it's on the lower frets, could be the nut or neck relief if it's on the higher frets it could be the bridge saddle height or a combination of both 😬🤷‍♂️ I'd probably start by loosening the truss rod a bit, to add more relief (this will make your "action" higher) then try to take it down a bit at the saddles. Also if you've changed gauge, the bridge could be at more of an angle. If that's the case you might need to adjust the trem springs. Take a note of any changes you make and if they improve/worsen the feel/buzz. For what it's worth... I have all of my guitars set up with low action and there is still buzzing. But that's just the price I'm happy to pay for lower action 😬🤷‍♂️

I had my tech do the work. It didn't need routed. But... You do need to file away about 1-2mm in the corner of the trem block cavity, so there's enough clearance for the trem arm barrel to move freely. I had to do the same thing when I installed a Gotoh 510 on a Fender body 👍 Hope that helps

@@stevecassidyguitar ah that shouldn't be too much work. I'm thinking about getting one JS400 like yours and slapping in a Vega trem, although the thought of the tremolo being more expensive than the guitar itself is haunting me. lol

@@stevecassidyguitar holy cow, SS frets? Now that's a proper upgrade! I still am deciding between the Jet or the HB ST Modern Plus for a modding platform. Or maybe scrap all that and go straight for a Ibanez AZ prestige. What is your opinion on this?

It is a wee bit thinner and flatter with it being a D shape Vs C shape. But it's not like Ibanez or Charvel thin. Chunkier than that but feels slightly thinner than a Fender modern C to my hands. Hope that helps 😬👍

Yes mate - that's the way to do it... Go for the JS400 and convert it to SSS . Well worth it for the JS400's sculpted neck heel and better 2 point trem (imo) 😁👍

@@stevecassidyguitar Yeah thats what i was thinking. The sculpted heel and the trem is worth the extra cost of pickguard and pickups over the js-300

I personally prefer the neck on the Jet JS400. But If you like the specs of the ST modern and the neck, and you can get one without issues... It's pretty hard to beat imo 😁👍

Great recommendation for the Eart - Cheers! 😃👍 I had an Eart Corsair NK-C3 (x3 🙈) And wasn't a fan of the stock pickups either. That particular EART has feels like the same size fret wire as on the ST Modern too. I think the Fusions might be advertised as medium Jumbo - But they feel bigger than that to me. Fender medium jumbo is about as big as I'm comfortable with

It's all subjective innit? But to be totally honest... I had a huge fail in recording the audio for this one 😬 I recorded both guitar signals too hot, and ended up with clipping on all the sound samples 🙈 So it wasn't an ideal comparison in the first place, My bad - lessons learned 😅👍

Looks wise - I totally agree, I prefer the more traditional strat look too 😎👍
