    You could talk more about the benefits of Modern Petersen and Moroso dry sump pumps creating up to 20” of crankcase vacuum while eliminating the need for a separate vacuum pump. This can increase horsepower by creating a better ring seal plus the reduced windage as well. Thanks for the cool videos.

    Would love to see a video on how the seals or motor is built differently when a dry sump is used, especially if it’s an ls

      No real difference in build except dry sump will allow you to run lower tension rings, especially with a vacuum pump. That's free horsepower. On the oil pump mount, you have to block it off, but that's about it. There's a ton of tricks to do though that can result in even more power, but for a basic setup that's about it.

    Sir,
    I believe the oil pressure pump stage is located on the opposite end of the dry sump pump, where the oil pressure regulating valve is located.

    Great informative vid, one question. Which cars or engines are operating with external wet sump system? Thanks

  • @evcass69
    @evcass69 Год назад +1

    A crank scraper and pan baffle can help mitigate the wet sump foaming and G issue in the pan. I've read that Accusumps can fail also. OEM LS3 passenger head is notorious for slow drainback on long lefthand sweepers maintaining over 1.3G. Can you explain dry sumps with different number of stages and how you would pick the correct number of stages?

    If a t5 transmission is about 7" below the crankshafts centerline, how would a shallower sump allow a lower engine height than that?

    What is the reliability of a dry sump system? As in leaving the desert to drive 5 hours home? I have a prerunner and we keep popping engines while running in the desert and we've came to the conclusion that with the jumping and high rpms its constantly moving the oil around we just want it to be reliable.

    Little late to the comments. Is there a way to reduce oil pan depth(for clearance purposes) that doesnt require thousands worth of hardware? Im putting an engine into a very small mid-rear type position where i only have so much headroom. I dont plan on going crazy into the power as the power to weight will quickly become an issue for control, its intended use will be for targa rally/ time attack road racing in suburb courses. My issue is that require a few extra inches of ground clearance for the motor to fit and not protrude up into the ceiling of the engine bay(mid rear config) any input helps.

    pan with windage tray, baffles and a scraper get 90% of the gains of a dry sump.

    • @AndyE30
      @AndyE30 10 месяцев назад +2

      Not even close to true. There are other gains to be had with vacuum, low tension rings, etc. Not to mention constant and consistent oil delivery.

    • @dennisrobinson8008
      @dennisrobinson8008 10 месяцев назад

      So in your opinion it's greater than a 10HP difference than a good windage tray and scraper design?@@AndyE30

    I’m gonna be a dick now, both gases and liquids are fluids. Liquids are not compressible, gasses are. So fluids are compressible, depending what type. Kinda like engines vs motors. All engines are motors but not all motors are engines.
