Up until now I've only seen screenshots and short snippets of the game and i already thought that game was all the things wrong with "modern audience writing". Dear Lord, it's even worse.
I've never been against having politics in art, but I have a major rule of thumb: the art needs to come first. If your story is full of political messages but is horribly written, no one's going to read it, thereby defeating the purpose. This really isn't a hard thing to figure out, but we still get things like this.
Like we've had politics in games since forever, there's a 1992 game called KGB for crying out loud. The 1993 Amiga game Cannon Fodder was very anti-war, yet it's still a very fun game, or how Metal Gear Solid is anti nuclear weapons but it's a certified classic. But when your priorities are message first, game a very distant second you get bad games that are preachy and condescending.
The art should be what convinces me your politics are right. A great example is the show will and grace. It came out when being gay was still taboo, but we see will as this great person we can sympathize with and that will convince people to look at gay people in a different light. It's not yelling at us gay people are people so respect them, we're shown that.
When the only politics that is allowed is only from one political party, and anything else is immediately slandered by every media and corporations, people are allowed to call it out and reject it.
It's worse, because those who experience it will dislike the message. Begin to call them names when they point out the narrative is bad, and it can become actual hostility. These last years I'm wondering at times if there's actual sabotage going on, but I doubt if that was the goal it'd been as successful.
Games like this are a real reminder that the entertainment industries have been laundering money for decades and half the time they dont even know that's what's happening.
No kidding. The Acolyte was the same way with costing $180 million, despite looking worse than some CW superhero shows or even classic Star Trek shows, which cost a fraction of the price. Just where did that money go?

It will make them argue and pull out their guns, and shoot each other. Its so cool! Matt: Oh wow...that's awesome, do the cops die? Jimmy: Nah...just have internal bleeding for a few hours. Matt: That sucks. Well...this just made me sad....🙁

Are you telling me this is a Norwegian developed game? Please say no.. As a Norwegian, I need this to be, like, NOT from here..
The game (according to a YT comment) was funded with Norwegian taxpayer dollars, so you are partly to blame for this game.
It's worse, the game says the 'refugees' your government has been flooding your society with, are their to outbreed, make extinct the native White race..it's disgusting
this is your fault 🫵
Funded by Norwegian tax dollars and EU grants
@@Bucketus.Lord.of.Buckets Technically, it's tax kroner. But yeah. Fucking embarrassing.
Are we sure this isn't satire? The main character is a horrible person, is a walking cliche and her "super power" is the ability to control language. This is too on the nose to not be intentional. I'm sorry but I refuse to believe that the college educated people who made this game are this oblivious.
Their entire movement is based on being oblivious to reality.
So yeah. They are unironically terrible people and society has just enabled that behavior because we all need to be “accepting” and “tolerant”.
based on the rantings of the dev, no this is not satire, not a parody , this is legit, they just don't get it.
The kind that say they value freedom of speech, as long as it's their freedom of speech and no one elses
Nah brother, apparently it was made due to Trump winning in 2016 as well. It’s literally Trump Derangement Simulator.
@@davidrenton It's so sad that this is where we are at in western society. I'm not joking, I really thought this had to be satire because nobody with an education, especially higher education, could be this blind. This is not a bad game. This is diabolical.
A 4/10 is bad. This wishes it could be that good
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You are being so kind giving a 4/10. Is clearly a 2/10 at most.
Hell no 4/10 implies it did something good, I'd give it a 1/10 and that's only because the game works
This game is an incredible once in a decade 0/10. Absolutely nothing redeemable from this game and they have the audacity to ask for $45 Canadian for it.
@majora919 I wouldn't even give it that. A game working in and of itself shouldn't be a reason for a score because ideally, all games should function; It should be given. Even a crappy car should at least turn on. This is a zero out of 10. It has nothing redeeming about it. It's not so bad it's funny. It doesn't have an interesting art style. No good music. No interesting story. Not even halfway fun game play.
I actively hate this game. Not 'oh I regret buying it' or 'I didnt have a good time.' But actively hate it.

I legit think that they used ChatGPT for the dialogues and some half-assed AI for the voices
I was thinking the same thing
It's more like the writers were bullied in high school and just put every insult into the game as a failed power move.
They definitely used AI
They 100% just used AI for all dialogue and voices. There's no way any actual effort went into this game
Nah not ChatGPT, if anything it was probably a version of Google's Gemini AI that got slammed by everyone for being SJW-ish.

@@lemond2007 I bet they got most of the grants from ESG point grinding. Although I will say: if it's true that the Norwegian govt gave this company $1.5mil then I'm very very curious to see their expense sheet, because this barely passes as a well developed indie game of 4 devs over a 2-3 year period.
Why would a hydraulic jack connected to a network somehow? Why would the mechanic not put jackstands or bricks or tires under the bus if they were working on it? Have these people EVER even changed the oil in their cars once? Or at the very least watched their dad do it?

If this were any other game having the jack connected to wifi could be a joke about how tech companies constantly try to reinvent the wheel so they can sell it to you again for twice as much, but I don't think this game is smart enough for that.
There's a saying that goes around the Chinese internet, "I'm not afraid of god-like enemies, I'm afraid of stupid teammates."
This and Concord are perfect examples of “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”
The world where you manipulate your friends is the real world that these people live in. it’s very much like the way thieves are very protective of their possessions because they tend to hang out with other thieves, who steal their stuff.

Well, there is political themes in art, and then there is propaganda. Methinks this falls in the latter category
Games like this are a real reminder that the entertainment industries have been laundering money for decades and half the time they dont even know that's what's happening.
In this case it's tax money.
No kidding. The Acolyte was the same way with costing $180 million, despite looking worse than some CW superhero shows or even classic Star Trek shows, which cost a fraction of the price. Just where did that money go?

I watched someone play it. It is pure insanity. The dialogues, the characters, the little gameplay there is, the voice acting, nothing they do, say or whatever happens makes sense. It is all the crazy politics in one box.
None of them is likelable. The main character in the description has for example "difficulties to make friends" and you are not surprised why I'm telling you.
Apparently, the actress is a well-known british actress that was in The Expanse.
Saw a BBC interview talking about the game with her and the dev.
I don’t mind the cell-shaded look. But I would bet money the voice acting is AI. Possibly from an AI-translated script.
Apparently the actors were paid minimum wage aka.. most likely fivr
The art i think is nice.. it’s just everything else and character design that is bad.
The Peter Griffin Baka Mitai AI song is a masterpiece compared to the voice acting in this game.
AI would have written a better plot.
I can see why you think the voice acting is ai generated . I disagree a bit i think the other characters have fine/alright voice acting but the main character sounds like the company had the va say a lot of lines really slow so players can take in what shes saying but it ends up sounding bad/ai generated
