Buchbinder is showing why Haydn is the forerunner of Mozart and the teacher of Beethoven. Outstanding.
Played this for the conservatory admission test and it went well... This brings back memories
Thank you so much for sharing, Mr Hertzberg! Such a pleasure to hear recordings with a far more detailed rendition than when I heard them as a teenager. The recordings with Telefunken were technically amongst the best of those days, apart from Buchbinder's musicality and very own character.
Lovely, straightforward interpretation of a beautiful Sonata. Oft played more expressively, but to each his own!! Buchbinder's rather dry approach allows for the inner beauty of this composition to shine, even if without polish. Haydn sounds throughout the centuries with or without individual nuancing. His delightful approach to the delightful final movement is . . . delightful. ;) Thank you David, for another pianist's performance with which to compare that of others. I have good associations with "Buchbinder" but cannot recall the composer!!
Rudolf Buchbinder is a wonderful pianist - solo as well - and wonderful while leading an orchestra while playing the solo part himself!🤩
Thank you david for this delightful C Major Sonata which I always played with great pleasure.
I particularly like Rudolf Buchbinder's tender rendition of the Adagio. An early morning joy !!!
Haydn piano sonatas are always charming !
This is exactly how I play this sonata during my school concert many many years ago.
Haydn y su bellisima simpleza!!!.-
I would call Haydn's simpleza only apparent, if you don't mind!
00:00 Allegro con brio
06:16 Adagio
14:14 Finale: Allegro
There is an error in the tracklist in the description
Thank you for catching that... I knew I forgot something.
the exposition of minute and a half is what the customer wanted in 1730 or so but the development takes us places rare for that time .C>P.E.Bach might have found this interesting if facile in its unmannerist way. Buchbinder is too piano we need more of a hint of the delicacy of the old pianoforte tinny sound.Much much too beauty in his sound and the pedal is too much with the triplets but what do I know .I need to study with a master of this style ...I have a difficult time with this era :too facile I prefer Boulez sonatas .
