The ring around the bolt is so can distinguish the heavies from the normal bolts

subscribers... look at the out takes, in my members section, although the alloy bolt bent, the carbon fibre remained undamaged

I've had my AR-6 for about 18 months with both the 55lb and 90lb limbs. I've rarely shot the 90lb limb, most of it has been with the 55lb, however I want the 90lb to be my primary limb. At that time I'm bought my AR-6 (and a lot of ammo for it) there were no heavy arrows for sale from steambow. Now I notice they sell heavy arrows and recommend them from 90lb and up. I guess it makes sense for the 120lb and 150lb limbs, but it didn't seem to be an issue before when they sold the 90llb limbs ? Is this just a cash grab from them, what's your opinion on it ? I don't want to spend 150+ euro buying ammo again if its not needed.

hiya dan, right ok, i was selling my own heavy weights from about 3 years ago, if you go in my bolts playlist, they were vager bolts. i had my own production running in china and they sold rather well. then suddenly in jan this year. they said they could no longer supply due to import restrictions. feb the gov announces proposed crossbow restrictions, licensing and ban on broad heads. i think not.....
so i done my own testing and yes, the 90lbs bow will snap, if the bolts your using are to light in weight. ive snapped 2 and steambow will not uphold warranty for a snapped limb.
so what is your next option, is buy alloy or carbon bolts, take the nock out (about 80% will break or chew up on extraction, been there done it) and cut a nail in half and araldite it inside.
option b, start your own production line and try to find an importer who doesnt mind importing broad heads, but if you get caught, hmrc will nick you.
or option c, snap up, what ever you can at the moment. of my heavy bolts, ive kept back 100 for my own use.

@@markhuckercelticcrossbows7887 from what I was reading its arrows lighter than 10gram which causes the issues, correct me if I'm wrong. From memory the original bodkins are 10.5 so I should be able to still use them ? and I'll just need to replace the aluminum training arrows ?

@@dantheman9555I’ve got the 75lb limb and they recommend the lighter carbon ones on their website. They work great. I’d highly recommend the 75lb as a happy medium
