I have never tried using an external microphone. Not sure what you mean by "sample to button" ?

i've had the microgranny several years, but still haven't figured out how to select a specific spot on which to record. each time i press record, then the slot and it records over top of whatever was there. i'd like to be able to select an empty slot, or a spot where it doesn't matter if i record on top of something. how could one select, for example in slot one, 03 or choose 04 rather than having it always go on 00?

      Try this...
"Press the RECORD button to enter the record mode (the RGB LED turns RED). In the record mode the dots on the display indicate the level of the incoming signal. Use the input volume knob to adjust the volume. Pressing the HOLD button will activate or deactivate the the sound coming through from the input to the output, while in record mode.
After entering the record mode, the display asks you to select (“SLCT”) a position where you want to record. Now press one of the 6 big buttons. microGranny checks if there is a file in this slot and deletes it and prepares for recording. Then the display says (“REDY”) and the RECORD LED starts blinking to indicate that you should hit the RECORD button to start recording. microGranny will turn off the display (to minimize noise) and will start recording (indicated by only the RECORD LED and the LED of the current slot). To stop recording, hit the RECORD button again. The recorded sound is now stored and assigned to the big button."
Before you hit RECORD, press and hold the Page / Preset button and press a big button, say 6 (preset bank 6), this should have 6 empty "slots" you can use.

thanks for the reply. i have no trouble recording into micrograny, via mic or line input, the trouble is placement of samples. maybe my problem is that i've filled all available slots, so then microgranny automatically records into the 00 section of the selected slot. i'd like to be able to choose an exact spot, for example, slot one 01 or 02 but microgranny calls the shots. it's not a big deal. the instrument has character, so i go with the flow. importing samples via sd card i've done a few times, but it's so cumbersome, i don't bother anymore. it's a fun instrument, regardless of little challenges.

@@Lohbado you could try wiping your sd card and putting the original samples back on, I think that should free up slots to defaults (i.e. free slots).
