It had reliability issues just like the tiger but was more less produced more and more mobile and with a higher penetrating the long barrle 7.5cm kwk 42 /L70 volceity gun
Oh fr, why were other variants needed with better muzzle velocity? Cuz the original sherman had a shit gun that was only ment for PZ IV and PZ III. Hence why they made M4 (76)
@@FRWDedits you obviously are pretty uninformed... the sherman could penetrate the tiger from around 2000 meters the majority of the time, and the panther from around 1500 meters most of the time frontally. (and the tiger frontally too) the tiger or panther was not invincible, the sherman was better in almost every aspect, the only good thing about the tiger and panther was their gun ensured a good penetration ratio, although reports show the majority of panther shots did not go through sherman armor
@@TheMeisterMan The 76 sheerman could penetrate the armour from the tiger and teh panther from around 1000m and a bit more but to even penetrate the tiger or the panther with a 76 shermann from 1000m+ takes a very very good gunner. If you we're talking about the 75 sherman too than you are absolutly wrong.
What Sherman? there are tons of variants. If we are referring to reliability mechanically, sure I'll give that to our Shermans of WW2, technically the armor armament and survivability of the panther was 5x better. Lets also not forget that the sherman was mostly a cast metal tank while the panther had rolled/welded metal plates for armor. More can go wrong with casting metal instead of laying a sheet and welding. As an American all bias aside, the panther was just better in alot more areas besides cost and engine reliability.
@@FRWDedits firepower doesn’t matter if you can’t make it to the frontline and only early Sherman’s used casted armor later Sherman’s used welded armor and the Sherman was very survivable and the bad survival ability comes from the book death trap’s which is one of the most flawed books and the and late war germany didn’t have the right materials to produce high quality steel and the armor would fall of from being hit by even smaller cannons like the 45mm and not to mention the panther would catch fire dude to faulty fuel
@@FRWDedits also cost and reliability are very important factors that you can’t just shove aside if a tank costs a lot and takes a lot of man hours there will be less in the end and numbers matter a lot and reliability is very important for tanks like doesn’t matter how armored your tank is it’s not able to make into combat and the German not to mention how Germany lacked spare parts meaning if a tank broke down it would be the same as having it knocked out

@@FRWDeditsyeah 7.5 was powerful like the American 76mm and British 17lb. Not very unique to the Germans. Mobility was alright for a heavy tank if it moved at all because it broke down all the time. But it couldn’t go backwards to save its life
@youdontneedtoknow6621 the American Improved 76mm was not nearly common at all in comparison to the traditional 75mm that HAD to be improved to keep up with german armor.
