Level 9 bugs is one thing, but level 9 robits is a WHOLE different can of worms.
Arguably easier to deal with in my opinion. Try running a squad with two railguns and two Recoiless rifles. The reason being is that when you have drop ships you can wipe them out. Can’t do that with bugs unfortunately.
Recoiless rifles are a must but you can substitute railgun for laser cannon as well
Have someone on your squad run nothing but eagles; 500kg, airstrike, cluster and rocket pods. Once a railgun has cooled down for someone they can pick one up. The excessive close air especially when you're about to be overwhelmed is insanely useful. Plus they can lay down enough hate to make space for teammates to spawn.

Your take on difficulty is unbelievably based. Level 9 is there for coordinated teams of well equipped divers to jump into, tryharding, and still maybe fail.
You want to farm super samples? Try dif 7.
You want a chill but challenging difficulty? Try 5-6.
You want hell? Its in the name.
And yet hell dive was "mediocre" difficulty 12 out of 15 in the first one. You want hell? Go to "The inner circle of Hell"

That's the way it should be. Personally I run most 7 or 8 difficulties because it's a good mix of fun and difficulty. Unless I'm playing with some low level buddies that just aren't that great lol. I love trying to be John helldiver and carry them on suicide mission.
Yeah. Though at this point the community kind of want the difficulty to stay as is. I think some extra difficulties are needed to stop people getting angry while having a difficulty that is nigh impossible.
I love how you can see beams and cannon barrages being called down from ships in the distance.
It makes it really feel like you're part of a larger offensive, like in EDF 4, when the radio chatter would talk about other zones, and sometimes enemies would move into your zone from others.
Like, "Zone 4 is collapsing, flyers moving to Zone 5!" and then a huge swarm of giant hornets would fly in from the east side of the map.
Are the beams and cannons actually other groups?
@@toohda Doubtful. That would be waaay too much extra work for no benefit. It's most likely just random firing.

Max difficulty hasn't even been established yet. They added additional levels in the original, plus we're getting 1-2 new factions at some point.
This is just the early release max.

The ceo I’m pretty sure previously mentioned that the closer you get to the enemy’s main home planet, the harder it gets. Also, we have not even seen bosses yet.

Watching a good team do lvl 9 is so damned cinematic. Love this game. I've found that a duo (me and a buddy) on lvl 7 bugs gives a similar experience to when we hit lvl 9 bugs with a full squad. Damned automotons lvl 9 is by far my absolute favorite "feet first into hell experience". Truly a hellish experience.

9 is just the start for release. If you look at HD1, we are probably going all the way to 12 or 13 by the end of things.
As far as the "looks like a PS2 game" comment. Geez, to me, this is one of the most graphically consistent and intricate titles I've seen launch in a long time. Nothing looks out of place, and shockingly for the strange engine it uses it makes use of amazingly detailed animations and convincing physics. When I find myself paying close attention I don't find the typical video game aesthetic like clipping, repeated animations, characters in t pose, bad animation tweening, incorrect angle orientation (skyrim horse), strange gait (too slow too fast incorrect gait entirely), animation inconsistency between 3rd and 1st person... Nothing at all. Feels like I'm looking at something that had the care of a cinematic thrown at it. Not to mention it runs very well, with some future updates promising DLSS I'm excited to get over 200FPS in this game but I am happy that I don't have to report it runs like starfield or other titles that release these days.
Just going by the last video from Drew with the devs it's not too surprising how detailed it is, and the obvious levels of care they put in are very much appreciated. The game feels very intuitive in its systems as well which is honestly impressive considering some games these days.
Bro it looks gorgeous running on a 970 that's freaking great by the Devs. Game is really, really good and it hasn't lost any of its initial charm for me either.
For the record there are 15 difficulty levels in the first game.
The hardest is called The Inner Circle Of Hell.
You haven't noticed clipping? I see clipping on every cape, and doing anything in prone. Try reloading the rocket launcher in prone on your stomach

I fucking LOVED the King Kong game back when it came out, I had it on Xbox and must've sunken hundreds of hours into it. You guys are absolutely right about how clean the gameplay was for it's time, and I remember being blown away by the graphics, too. And yes, you could definitely play as Kong himself lol, and the gameplay even then was markedly better than the most recent Kong game. I remember suffering during the mission where you had to avoid multiple dinos (either rex's or raptors) while running from cover to cover beneath huge tree root systems that were above ground, if I remember correctly. Such an awesome game!!

My biggest question of all time is why does Drew jiggle his mouse when he goes panic mode. its so funny to watch him do a little twirl with his mouse.

I feel like the mechs make terminids a cakewalk, but the bots have several very effective ways they can wipe out mechs. Hulks, Rocket Raiders, Rocket Devastators, Cannon Turrets, and Annihilator Tanks all tear through mechs like paper way too far to see or hit them with the guns or missiles.

What I hate the most is that enemy groups can still poof into existence right next to you with not tell. No bughole warning, not dropship, just straight up spawn that shit.
It's frustrating as fuck.
With helldive, you want to treat it more like a stealth mission. If you get into a fight, they will keep spawning on you so its better to try and clear objectives as quick as possible using either stratagems or the autocannon. You can't just go into objectives guns blazing.

@@derkaiser9881 that usually only happens when you’re engaged in a fight tho. i’ve never had enemy groups just spawn on me randomly when i’m not engaged in combat.
Ive seen some people disagree, but each to their own. I think that having 9 be almost actually impossible is ideal because as long as there is something you cannot complete, the effects of power creep are lessened. Im also a big believer in the 'there isnt a meta' thing if you work with your squad and have dedicated overwatch and artillery.
The mechs are great fun but people seem not to realise that they are mobile weapons platforms, not tanks. They rip against bugs but the bot missiles will put out out pretty quick
It's fine for 9 to be ultra difficult, I mainly just wish they hadn't messed with the spawns/AI on the lower difficulties.

@@pauloazuela8488 Note that this comment is like a month old, quite a bit has changed since then.
Mainly in that they've made patrols even worse - More will spawn, the enemy detection ranges are better, and they will now head directly for you when they spawn (instead of just in your general direction).
In general, it seems that they're trying very hard to make it harder to stealth as well, so now the new meta is just running away from stuff.
this footage demonstrates pretty well that the enemies have a really intense snowball effect. You have a lot more manageable swarms when you actually stay on top of them and kill heavies _quickly,_ but if you have huge uncontrolled swarms constantly calling in reinforcements you're likely to get waaaay more heavy spawns.

I said the exact same thing about the difficulties getting to the point that it should be a real challenge to survive to the end by Helldive difficulty. That's why there are nine difficulties to play on. For example, I always play on difficulty seven casually and nine when I want the good fight. Go to a lower difficulty if nine is too hard and get used to the difficulties under it. No matter what difficulty you do, you still add influence to the overall fight for democracy.

Well this isn’t malevelon creek and they also have the mech and the new enemy patch but fair, you have a point
This was while everyone still had the free mech deployment (without needing a slot), it turns out that 4 extra mechs is a lot of free extra firepower to hand to players
The people complaining that its too hard either have no comms, are shooting at everything they see, have poor loadout variety, or all of the above.
@@hyunjaycho9004the last two level 3 missions I did were run with a few randoms who shot at literally everything that spawned in, which only spawned more patrols and dropships. I just wanted a chill stealth mission and got armageddon. Didn't help that they had poor loadouts.

I wanna play Helldive with my friends, and at the moment feels kinda easy, doing missions with zero deaths.
So the two races in the game are very aggressive. I wonder if it would work to have a more defensive orientated faction that you had to siege or infiltrate?

When last night had a hell of a time on 7s and 8s spewers everywhere chargers everywhere bile titans everywhere what patch cause if 7 and 8 are this crazy how is 9 calm didnt fail any but damn struggle
has performance improved since the balance patch? game ran flawlessly for me before that, then all of a sudden ran like ass i presume because of the increased spawn rate? im playing at 1080p on a 3070 with a 12th gen cpu and it couldn't hit 60 no matter what the settings were.
@@billjones642 Sounds like a rig issue. I have worse specs at higher resolution and my framerates have been rock steady.

I love the mechs, exactly what i wanted. Would love some sort of ejection detonation module upgrade or something but other than that its perfect.
The mechs are as strong as they were in the first game in my opinion, which is a good power level

A really good tip I heard yesterday is that you can change the binding of the stratagems to arrow keys so you can keep moving while typing it in
They also released another update today to address amount of certain enemy types spawning and replacing that with others. And more effectiveness of using say a recoiless and hitting a chargers head.
recoiless and EAT being able to one shot a charger on a direct headshot is HUGE. EAT was already my go-to support weapon post railgun nerf and that’s not changing for a while now.
Thats more in line with the first game which is great.
I was concerned at first when the Recoiless took quite a few rounds to kill chargers (they were called tanks in the first game) EAT and Recoiless could one-shot those at right angles out of the box and the Recoiless could be upgraded to ignore armor.

CHANGE YOUR STRAGEMS TO YOUR ARROW KEYS!!!!!!!!!!!! this means you can continue to run while inputting the arrows. Just remeber to line yourself up in a decent direction (away from the enimes/ not at a wall) this means if you mess it up like you did at 8:40 you can retry without standing still.

It’s like the early cods like the big red 1 you really felt like a part of the team and when some you built a relationship dies those campaigns were some of the best
Tbh difficulty is quite inconsistent. You guys had a pretty chill time, but I can assure you that I had both chill and extremely not chill lvl 9 dives. It all depends on what sort of spawns you get. I've had missions in which there were always at least 4 bile titans and 5 chargers present at all times, with constant hunter swarms and 3 stalker nests on the map.
When we talk robots... eh... you already know.
A good idea I have for the mech: is to have say a self destruct system. like for when its surrounded by enemies with no ammo it'll just self destruct killing everything near it sort of like a Mutual Assured Destruction kind of thing or when the Mech is abandoned because it ran out of munitions it will become the weapon like doing something that attracts hostiles to it then self destructs. don't know where these ideas came from but I did want to share them because they were kind of cool
drew if you like the autocannon i recommend running it on full auto and crew assisted, hella fun and crapton of recoil
Hi, genuinely like the level Ing system because I remember I was able to unlock suicide mission super quick but I didn’t have the strategies unlocked, and as I levelled up and got more requisition slips suicide, mission became my average difficulty

This game has such incredibly cinematic moments all the time. Like at 12:05 when he runs from the bile titan getting hit by a 500kg bomb, throwing himself into cover behind a rock. And the then looking over to the side as a mech walks in to the fires of hell firing missiles up at the bile titan.
Almost all of the complaints were about the spawn rates of patrols + heavies, which they just fixed with the new patch today. The game you just played looks like what level 7 was 24 hrs ago. Especially since the automatic mech suit bonus from the major order is likely going to be disappearing for the general population at some point, this level of intensity seems pretty close to appropriate.

i still remember playing that king kong 2005 game back on the 360. i still remember the centipedes lmao. for a movie based game it was VERY well done.
Bit of a tip with the Autocannon, you can ricochet the shots into the ground and have em bounce back up into the Charger. Takes probably 6-7 shots to kill them if you're by yourself.

something I love about seeing this video, is that, even with all the weapons in the game, the very first weapon/rifle that you get is still very much a viable option
Going in a wiping the floor like a spec ops soldier on difficulty 3 is awesome. So is barely scraping by like Guardsmen on difficulty 7 is also awesome!
WTF. I haven had a level 7 with so little enemies. If all games were like yours I don’t think anyone would complain.
At 9:15 it’s pretty crazy. But it looked like you had a break at least until then. Most of the later levels are none stop. And like others have said try the terminators.
