I harvested some moss from the woods near our home, and it became infested with fungus gnats. Is there something I did wrong?Should I have dried it out first, or is there a way to treat it now to get rid of them?
@@roberthart897 the gnats are most likely from the soil. There are lots of videos on how to treat them on RUclips. The best way is to get rid of the soil which is where they lay their eggs. I have had some luck with using a product called mosquito bites. I will say I have found it nearly impossible to get rid of them all because even when I purchase a new plant or a new bag of soil they seem to be there when I buy them which starts your process of getting rid of them all over again. It has to be the most frustrating thing about keeping plants indoors. But I’m addicted to them so I just deal with it and try to keep the bugs at a minimum. Good luck 👍
@JanElizabethLakey thank you! Your creations are always beautiful. I am hooked as well. It was so fun to go forage for them and find so many different kinds.
So beautiful! You have an amazing green thumb and eye for beauty. I’m too afraid to bring moss in. I don’t like bugs especially the prolific bugs of SWFlorida so I only have 1 or 2 mini plants inside. All plants do well outside here anyway. Stay warm!
@@suzanlanz6560how are you this week? I think you are more south but Florida got snow!!! Crazy. I am jealous of your ability to grow just about anything I think that would be wonderful. I must admit though I do love the changing of the seasons. I’m really leaning into my hibernation season right now almost too much 😂
