Need to have a deep well 18 mm or 19 mm socket. The 15 mm bolt on the bottom sticks out the back just enough to were you can not use a standard socket. Very helpful video. I have a 2002 Liberty on an Island off the coast of Ga. I really wanted to make sure I took the right tool to keep from needing to make Two trip by boat. Lucky I brought a deep well 19 mm socket and not a standard.
I purchased my Jeep with a 2" spacer lift already installed, and the ride height looks great in the front, but the rear shocks are making loud squeaking noises when they move and the rear suspension is sagging so much that its back to stock ride height. Should I replace just the shocks, or do I possibly need new coil springs too? Thanks.
+Ben Witek Thanks for watching! No, you do not need to load the shocks before tightening on this vehicle! www.1aauto.com/1A/shocks_struts/Jeep/Liberty/1ASSP00498?RUclips&CTA+Comment&Grsg
Passenger side went fine, but when I got to the lower shock bolt / nut on the drivers side the heads stripped. Any idea on how to get these loose now ? Tried blow torch, vice grips and PB blaster, but to no avail.
+Matt Roebuck Thanks for watching! The process is going to be different, because the fronts are a strut and spring assembly like the ones found in this link: www.1aauto.com/dodge-nitro-jeep-liberty-shock-and-spring-assembly-front-pair/i/1assp00064?f=526820&y=2003 - Unfortunately we do not have a video for this procedure.
if you have a jeep liberty and it doesn't look like the shocks have been replaced, they're bad. the shocks were underrated for the liberty and they will let the vehicle sag over time.
from many different people, i say replace with the crd struts instead. it'll be a little stiffer ride but it won't wear out as the crd is a bit heavier engine than the 3.7 or 2.4

arnt you suppose to " load" the shocks before tightened? usually I drop the truck down and have 80% weight in tire then tightened the shock,

Chilton says to load it then tighten in the liberty repair manual

Any idea what size the bottom bolt it. Mine broke and none of the autoparts stores around are helping.
Bring the bult in when that happens with the nut too
Do you have a video for replacing the front shocks? Or is it pretty much the same as the rear shocks in this video?

Are there specific types of rear shock and struts or are they the same parts as the front ones?
+Roberto Vasquez They are different from the front ones.
@@1AAuto do you have the rear suspension kit for a 2007 Jeep Liberty on your website??
+Roberto Vasquez We do. I have attached a link for your reference: www.1aauto.com/search?q=rear+shock&year=2007&model=876&searchQuery=rear+shock
how do u know when your shocks and springs are bad?

Does the vehicle bounch a lot? Does it ride softer than normal ie when you turn, does it sway more?
They will sag, bounce alot, check bushings, and some shocks leak
Thanx
