Sorry Im late, but I always take issue with such statements: "while Disney just wants money." What do you think earns a company more money, creating a story that genuinly interests people, draws them in and makes them buy movies, games, books, shirts, toys etc., or a quick cashgrab that TFA and TLJ were? The last movies made fans quit the franchise for good. Disney is actually missing out on so much money right now by pissing of the fans.

We were Seattle Yuppies in the uber liberal Fremont neighborhood, so this was a complete send-up, designed to embarrass him, which it did. Donald Trump and his fellow evil, corrupt Republican villains are perfectly willing to kill hundreds of thousands of poor people, especially black and brown people, and their children and grandparents, to give Wall $treet 2% more profit. I think Luke being a grandmaster could have worked with the script, I appreciate that the films are trying to do their own thing and try to create their own story. The character of kylo ren is interesting as he is full of complexities, he is emotionally scarred, and somehow it seems he has a strange relationship with Luke. Imagine this, after leaving the stronghold, Luke starts to demolish the first order at ats, however kylo in a fit of rage storms out onto the field and there is an emotional confrontation with his uncle and former master, someone he looked up to in the past. Then the battle could have been an epic fight, could have ended the same way it did in the movie. I think that Luke's potential in this film wasnt fully explored, and that it would have been cool to see this happen on screen, just to show how powerful he was, and how guilty he felt about kylo. Its possible some of these emotional connections might be mentioned in the sequel, but you never know.
SpringThatTrap love Mark Hamill would love to talk to him one on one which I'm sure everyone would love to do just to have a chat. My favorite part in all of this because it's exactly what I said when watching the movie-she hasn't even been to Dagobah for training! Stupid movie in my opinion I too thought Luke was going to be in this for more things than just lifting off a hood and having a disgusted bewildered look on his face.
4:15 Before he didn’t remember Reys name, but he remembered Poe and Finn. When there are characters written with actual development you care about them. When you have characters like Rey who make the story seem like there no suspense, you end up not caring for them.
This man has charisma. I remember watching him on those old talk shows back in what? Mid 1980? He was just as funny back then. I'm glad growing old hasn't changed him.
3:15 Look even Mark Hamill admits that it makes no sense for Rey to be so good with a lightsaber without ever having training or even an idea of what the weapon is.
Ryan R it’s different when your fighting another (FORCE) user who has had far more training.. Rey should of gotten stomped in that first fight with kylo REN.. and kylo ren should be far more powerful with the force.. but no.. “equal rights” apart from it seems more feminist that Rey seems to be better than kylo ren.. (without training) it seems she’s only better than him because she’s a woman.. the feminists came to power.. how did Disney let that happen.. I knew it would come to this.. the feminists are taking over.. execute order 66
@Ryan R You see the issue with that logic is anakin someone extremely powerful In the force (strongest connection to the force ever) got beat by obi wan mind you both had training but Kylo had more training than Rey ever has, and yet kylo still got his shit kicked in at some point you just gotta see the lazy story telling I'm not saying kylo in any shape or form is as good as obi wan but cmon man also btw they explained why jedi make amazing pilots that's because the force heightens their reflexes besides it's not like any of them been been flying for years (Anakin pod races, luke was flying for a while, literally every jedi has had training in flight,) but heightened senses doesnt beat out training
Vlad the Impaler i believe she can use it so well is because of her usage of her staff from episode 7. She’s been wandering Jakku for a long time so obviously she’s well acquainted with it. Now a staff and a lightsaber arent the same thing but they’re similar enough that it makes sense. At least that’s how I saw it.
@@carljohnson6183 You must be a little kid who only knows about Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. That's really sad. Educate yourself on the Joker from Batman TAS.
YES. CO SIGN. Luke saving them at the end of the forest battle would've been golden. Especially if he knew what happened to Han and could feel it but just gets there too late to save him. Kylo Ren would've lost the quick battle to his master. Luke could've bested him without even pulling out his light saber. The trio would escape afterwards and leave Ren to his fate. Then the mystery of his demise would add to the impending drama of Episode 8. There were SO many threads that could've been tied and handled then without strife.
Yeah in the moment it would have been awesome, but it wouldnt have been awesome for the continuity of the story. It just wouldn't fit as well, they would have to do some rewriting and completely change the tone of the end of the movie as well as draw it out a bit longer to explain some things. If they ended it without explaining certain aspects of that ending then we would all be talking about how lame the ending was instead of who should ahve caught the lightsaber.
I got legit chills just imagining that scenario. Instead of Rey catching it, it flies past her too where a hooded figure catches it, and ignites it alongside a green-bladed saber, and proceeds to destroy Kylo before the planet-split stops him.
I would've cheered! Especially after such a harsh blow to seeing Han die. Luke would return to save his friends, even if he was too late to save Han, he would try to end the killing. Plus, the shock on Kylo's face and the swelling of his theme song would literally set that scene to be amazing!
I know someone who worked directly with him on a project a few years ago and asked him the same thing in private. What he left out here is that when he finished reading the script, he tossed it across the room.
that's what I never really understood: with ZERO training, Rey ends up mind tricking a storm trooper, uses the Force to pull the light saber towards her, AND ends up completely outmatching Kylo Ren in combat/dueling. Whereas Luke had to actually do years of training by arguably two of the greatest Jedi Masters in Yoda and Obi Wan to even come close to what Rey was doing in a matter of days/weeks. It's ridiculous.
Well, to be fair Kylo Ren was badly wounded from being shot by Chewie's crossbow blaster, and hit by Finn with Rey's new lightsaber. And from the looks of TLJ, she's simply more powerful than him in terms of raw untamed power.
Kaneki Ken Why didn't he just freeze that blaster bolt like we seen him do at the beginning of the film? Chewie damn sure telegraphed the shot loudly enough with his rage howling before he took the shot. Dark side users draw power from anger and pain, so is the wound really a disadvantage? Why should Finn be able to wound him? Is everybody better than Kylo at everything regardless of the fact he has been trained by Luke and a Sith Lord? Your arguments aren't very compelling. These inconsistencies are what make TFA objectively bad. Political agendas that try and appeal to what is assumed to be a more "progressive," younger consumer base for the purpose of a greater investment return based upon the obvious natural greater longevity of a younger consumer, is killing the soul of what has been previously established in this franchise.
Well on why he didn't freeze the blaster bolt, I believe it's self-evident from his reaction to killing his father. He was distracted and distraught. Perhaps he believed it would make his problems disappear that he'd be much stronger for doing it but it appears it weakened his senses or something. Perhaps he wasn't paying attention I really am not entirely sure. Finn was able to wound him because he had some mele training as a stormtrooper before. But he still got his ass kicked barely doing any damage to Kylo Ren. It's also stated in the film he hasn't completed his training yet, which is why he's so emotional and out of control. He's not traditionally intimidating to his men like Vader was throughout the OT. Instead of lashing out at his men by killing them he lashes out with his lightsaber and destroys shit. I mean he clearly did intimidate General Hux at times, and he scared some stormtroopers away the second time he lashes out with his saber when Rey escapes his custody. It's obvious Rey is about as skilled if not more than he is currently though in her force abilities. She resisted his force mind probe, even used it against him. And was able to force pull Luke's lightsaber before he could. Snoke and Kylo both realize her potential and how powerful she is. They also btw called Luke the last Jedi in the force awakens, as well as saying there had been an awakening. Rey is the awakening, the power in her awakened.
Tragedy look what has disney turned into, since i was 9 year old i always watched star wars and transformerd and good quality movies, but it's sad how they have to keep pushing political agenda just to destroy fun in eatching them
Some would if the events made sense and doesn't ruin what's essentially an icon of Star Wars. Also, it's funny that Johnson wanted to make Luke "more human" with all the character-assassinating flaws he's beset with, whereas Rey gets away with being perfection incarnate.
Shamshiro Funny thing is - Luke would get away with being perfection incarnate. He's been a Jedi knight for decades, he's been training, he has learnt, he has lost so much, we've seen him grow and now he deserves to be almost inhumanly wise and great, a new Yoda, a grandmaster. Rey on the other hand? No sacrifice, no training, nothing. So unrelatable.
@SlowPro no-one has been able to do that before him.You think that was pathetic,I think that was awesome. Also the biggest twist since the Vader reveal.

But Kylo Ren was the villain: that line was basically the antagonist of the movie. By saying cynicism is the message, you’re basically siding with the bad guys.
"You mean Rey caught it!?" I remember how incredibly dejected I was during that scene as well when it was Rey that force pulled the saber. I just KNEW it was gonna be Luke. That would have been epic. Should have been him. So many disappointments ☹.
Would've liked it if she activated it mid-pull and decapitated herself by mistake. Then have Finn be the protagonist (seeing as how he's actually useless and could at least make a hero's journey). Hamill is great fun because he's always been one of Us: the geeks in the audience who sit around and jabber about the characters. You know Harrison Ford is like, "gimme my paycheck," and Fisher always hated the character, but Hamill really loves Star Wars and always wants it to be wonderful. He's one of the only one who actually cares about these characters while Disney just wants money. You can tell Mark didnt want to be in Disneys Star Wars, but he was kind of forced to do it. He said that if he rejected the role, there would be a riot outside his house, I feel bad for him
Sorry Im late, but I always take issue with such statements: "while Disney just wants money."
What do you think earns a company more money, creating a story that genuinly interests people, draws them in and makes them buy movies, games, books, shirts, toys etc., or a quick cashgrab that TFA and TLJ were? The last movies made fans quit the franchise for good. Disney is actually missing out on so much money right now by pissing of the fans.
@@ASOIAF-Henrik I agree with your statement but in all honesty they gave the starwars game license to EA, and all they care about is money. Not to mention TLJ might have one of the most split audiences, (Not saying I liked it) but Disney is making money while pushing an SJW agenda in my opinion, and making a lot of money while doing so.
@@aleccross2987 "Ea only cares about money" I dont think I have to repeat myself? If they cared about money, they would make games that people actually wanted to buy, which wasnt really the case with battlefront 2. People also didnt buy battlefield 5 e.g.. The solo movie was also not making much money. So their greed for money actually makes them less money in the long run.
@@ASOIAF-Henrik that's the point, business practices like that will only keep them afloat for so long, I mean EA is still making hundreds of millions every year from their FIFA and Madden packs.

If Luke caught the lightsaber instead of Rey that would've been absolutely awesome.
YES.
Domestic Wolf Hamill should write for future Star Wars movies just like Shatner and Nimoy did for some Star Trek movies and books.
I got legit chills just imagining that scenario. Instead of Rey catching it, it flies past her too where a hooded figure catches it, and ignites it alongside a green-bladed saber, and proceeds to destroy Kylo before the planet-split stops him.

I know someone who worked directly with him on a project a few years ago and asked him the same thing in private. What he left out here is that when he finished reading the script, he tossed it across the room.
Lol. He probably muttered "fuck off" too as he threw it
that's what I never really understood: with ZERO training, Rey ends up mind tricking a storm trooper, uses the Force to pull the light saber towards her, AND ends up completely outmatching Kylo Ren in combat/dueling.
Kaneki Ken
Why didn't he just freeze that blaster bolt like we seen him do at the beginning of the film?
Feminism. That’s it
Gay-man, using a staff is nothing like a sword.
Disney really destroyed the legacy of Luke. So sad.
Tragedy look what has disney turned into, since i was 9 year old i always watched star wars and transformerd and good quality movies, but it's sad how they have to keep pushing political agenda just to destroy fun in eatching them
But what about baby yoda
@@gorgon352 haven"t watch the movie yet neither do i plan to, but my opinion garbage clone of yoda

Reflexez I didn't think he sounded gay? That is just how he talks I guess
Have you seen him in the 70s? He was wayyyy more feminine then.
and to think he bring to life one the best villains ever made
Tumbler eh, I wouldn't say Hammil was feminine in the 70s, was just a happy go lucky kid in his 20s and thrilled with his sudden fame.
this guy just asked if Star Wars fans have seen Hamill in the 70s.. lol..
How could someone dislike this? He's such a class act.
I have seen anyone disliking this
When even the most important character is pissed off about the film, then you know you're a failure at filming
Richard Lew well true.

Or not, and some want any excuse not to acknowledge the passing of time.
So unrelatable.
alec guinness Hated the original story, and he was pretty important to the story, well I guess a new Hope sucks now.
George Lucas made the originals and prequels to tell a story.
Disney is making the sequels to make money.

They did Luke dirty in The Last Jedi. TERRIBLE movie!
david clark same with snoke
You mean in the force awakens, they redeemed him in the last Jedi.
@SlowPro no-one has been able to do that before him.You think that was pathetic,I think that was awesome. Also the biggest twist since the Vader reveal.
Yeah. He deserved more screen action

It took it in a different direction, and if The Last Jedi was bad, then by your explanation The Rise of Skywalker is abhorrent, which is true. It was too fast of a movie and never developed its plot lines.
When your movie is so bad the review scores are making fun of you
He seems such a nice person, simple, down to earth and funny
The whole cat metaphor totally represents The Last Jedi
LegendOfPokemon nailed it
He probably prefers his role in VII than he does in VIII now.
Sad, sad truth.
They redeemed Luke at the end of The Last Jedi
@@sazerick1713 that was Jake Skywalker though. Completely different character
@@sazerick1713 He died pathetically attempting to stall a weaker opponent. He wasn't redeemed at all.
Stephen Ball He was redeemed as in he learned to hope again. A common misconception about TLJ is that “let the past die” was the message of the movie. But Kylo Ren was the villain: that line was basically the antagonist of the movie. By saying cynicism is the message, you’re basically siding with the bad guys.
“I mean come on she didn’t even go to tekashi station to pick up some power converters”
"You mean Rey caught it!?" I remember how incredibly dejected I was during that scene as well when it was Rey that force pulled the saber. I just KNEW it was gonna be Luke. That would have been epic. Should have been him. So many disappointments ☹.
It would be like yoda saving obi wan and anakin against count dooku
that would have been a pretty cool reveal
Would've liked it if she activated it mid-pull and decapitated herself by mistake. Then have Finn be the protagonist (seeing as how he's actually useless and could at least make a hero's journey). Would've been funny AND tragic/somewhat unexpected (kill the poor junk collector longing for her family?).
@@wazzobazzo that is actually a lot closer to what should happen to an untrained person playing with a lightsaber.
Because feminism
Luke catching the lightsaber would have been his "Darth Vader Hallway" scene from Rogue One.
It would have been incredible as that moment, but wouldn't make much sense since he'd fucking destroy Kylo Ren and end of film haha

Oh it could have just been done like with Count Dooku when he was fighting Yoda. He threatened Obi Wans and Anakins Life with this big thingy. Kylo could have done the same with some big tree and Rey so that Luke would have to save her and stop fighting him, giving him enough time to flee.
@@henkman00 ohhhh shit.... Chills and tears just imagining that....

Should I type it again? What don't you understand?
What exactly makes you think that I am a retarded dumbass? Please explain.
Ryan, all I was doing was pointing out that one of my childhood heroes was sounding more like a transgender freak than a Knight of an elite esoteric Order devoted to defending the galaxy. But since everything else in our increasingly degenerate society is disappointing me, why not Luke Skywalker too, right?
It is not so much a high pitched voice as the manner of speech and mannerisms. Personally, I do not think my comments reveal any moronic traits, but you are entitled to your opinion of me. May the Force be with you.
Well I was gonna say "All I hear is the Joker laughing" guess I'm not alone. xD
I really like Mark Hamill because you can clearly tell he is passionate for the univers he is a part of and for the character he plays. He didn't say "Luke was a jedi drop out" he "I was a jedi drop out" He sees the character as a part of himself and he really gives it his all and it's so wonderful to see. As much as i love Han Solo you can clearly see that for Harrison Ford, Han is just a paycheck.
