    Thank you for going into such detail! I am looking to buy my first digital keyboard and yours is the first review of this board that even mentions there are more settings available using just the keyboard, not the app (besides the marked metronome and instruments).

    I bought one of these a year ago as my first fully weighted digital piano. I tried a bunch of models in the same range P-125, B1, PX-160, etc., so here’s my two cents: The keybed and action on the Roland was far and away more realistic than any of the others. It’s the heaviest action of all of them and the feel of the keys was superior with only the Casio coming close (the Yamaha and Korg keys are shiny and too plasticky feeling). The trade-offs are that the Yamaha and Casio have better speakers, stereo outs, and more/better EP sounds. But since I mainly play at home and through VSTi’s, the trade-offs still made Roland the best choice for me. If you like a lighter action, need more/better sounds onboard, and/or plan to play out with it, the PX-160 or P-125 might be the better choice for you,

      Hi! I've seen people who have purchased the roland fp-10 complain that the keys develop a clicking noise after a while. Have you experienced that at all? Or is still holding up fine? Thanks!

      I'm switching from guitar to piano due to hand injury ,I'm leaning towards the fp 10 how is it holding up ?what other options should I look at?

    • @MichaelHattem
      @MichaelHattem 4 года назад +8

      So over the course of about 12 months of playing 1-2+ hours per day I haven’t noticed the keys getting any noisier or “clickier.” If I had to do the purchase again in the same price range, in addition to the ones mentioned above, I would definitely also consider the Kawai ES-110. It’s a bit above the FP-10 in price, but would be worth the extra cost.

      @@DanielSekovski That's been my experience.

    • @MichaelHattem

      @@SlightlyTechnical 18 months and still going strong. I still love playing it as much as when I first got it. At this point, I don't see any reason to upgrade unless its to the $2000+ range. Other options include the Casio Privia PX-160, which I've played and has a very different key feel but very good sounds, and the Yamaha P-125 which has good sounds but very shiny, plasticky feeling keys. All three have a very different feel when playing so if you can test them out in person that's ideal. The Roland has the heaviest keys, which I like. Casio's I think are the lightest and it feels like a much shallower keybed than the Roland or Yamaha. Hope that helps.

    Man this is the greatest Review I've seen. Everything was mentioned and the app explained nicely, which a lot of people just lick it or forget about it completely. Just wonder are there other apps for this piano [not official] which allow even deeper customization

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your comment... much appreciated! There's probably other apps out there, but I doubt any of those would offer a deeper level of customization. The Roland app is actually quite good!

    Great review PianoManChuck! Do you have any knowledge about whether this "clicking/noisy keys" issue on the FP-10 is a big / real issue or not? I know my Alesis Recital Pro makes a LOT of noise as I play. All digital pianos will have to make some sound since the way they imitate the striking of a string is physically hitting the bottom of the keybed I don't know how that can be avoided. Anyways thought I'd check because I love the FP-30, but this is a lot less $!

    Heya, what do you think of the speakers ? Are they good, especially on the deep end ?
    Could you compare them to the speakers of the Korg B2 or Casio CDP-S350 by any chance ? I've had the chance to test both, the former one sounds okay but the last is really not good ..

    Hello Mr. PianoManChuck 🙂.
    I'm planning to buy this model but I'm holding back because it seems that after a while, the keys of the FP-10 would start to make clicking noises as shown and claimed by many. Did this happen to your piano?

    • @PianoManChuck

      After playing it for a little while, it WILL start to make a loud clicking noise. They all do that because of how they're built. PianoManChuck never had that problem because he doesn't play it everyday as his main keyboard.

    Hello, thank you for your interesting video. I've played for many years the piano. I play on a grand acoustic one and also on a Roland RG3 F. Due to circumstances I'm going to be away from home for about eight months. No chance to have a piano where I'm going to stay. So I want to buy a light digital one like this so I can take it by plane. I just want to be able to play everyday, mostly with a headphones. Which one would you recommend. I've considered different options, this one, the P-45, Korg, Casio... Which one would you recommend? Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the review. I'm considering a digital piano for my daughter. I really like the Roland digitals. I'm still leaning toward the FP30 for the stand, triple pedal, and page turner. Question: Can you save the settings into a preset and recall them using the app?

    Thank you for the review....You said you've connected the output to the Audio interface, then when you're playing, the sound also comes from the Piano's in-built speakers right ? Or if you plug the cable the sound is off......And if you connect the headphones, i think the sound from in-built speakers automatically tujrns off...Is it ?

      By default the internal speakers will shut off when headphones are plugged in, but you can disable that in settings (check the manual to see)
