I have such a vivid memory of sitting in my car listening to that interview and having the same reaction as Crabs to the "boys will be boys" comment.
Crazy to know how it really went down and the backstory behind it.
I can clear as day remember triple j scrambling to hide their side of all the stories going on at the time. This interview was clearly them going after the band and it was very clear at the time

Went to Sticky Fingers gig in Cologne this year, they are the best live band from Aus at the moment. Can't believe Australia have had to miss out on them for so long, what a travesty!
Everyone's been listening to them in the Southern hemisphere for the last 10 years. Way better Aussie bands around these days with way better frontmen...

Journalists and interviewers exist to get attention (to justify their existence for advertisers/user pay fees/government funding).
They aren't there to inform, entertain or do anything of value - if they do it is just a coincidence that the person has integrity- it isn't rewarded in that profession.
I oversimplify, sometimes they work to serve a vested interest, ideology or other hidden agenda.

I’ve been saying this for years! when you actually go and listen to that hack interview you can tell the “boys will be boys” line was taken out of context and had no malice. Don’t get me started on the Thelma plum thing omg I like her music but dam!
God I remember all that shit with Thelma Plum. Could never stand her after hearing all that. Actually what got me into StiFi and pushed me to listen to them more. I just looked at the stuff that went on with Paddy, his missus and his Mum as well.
