- This is my Skateology video for heelflips. These clips were filmed at 1,000 frames per second with a Redlake N3 high speed camera at 1280x720 resolution. All skating by Mike Krok.
Thanks to System Productions for the music. This song is called V-World 42.

Are you a goofy? Normally for new learners, goofy skaters will find heelflips easier to do as it is more natural to them while regulars will find kickflips easier.
HongCe Soo I’m regular and heelflip is way more comfortable for me. I learned heelflip first , kickflip seems like a weird trick for me that’s odd

I had trouble with heelflips and found out that leaning back helped me land them first go.its the best feeling in the world landing on your griptape for heelflip

you say leaning back, do you mean towards your back or the tail of the board?

Dude heelfips are just an Ollie easiest flip trick in skateboarding once you learn it properly I was always trying to kick out and my heelfips sucked but my bud showed me a new foot position where all you do is Ollie and the board flips it's self in to your feet
whoever he is, his heelflip is way higher than my ollie ;-;

GENIUS idea to get a 1k fps slow motion camera to do this with explanations other videos are shit i like this the slow mo shows you EXACTLY on your foot game.
Leg strenght that you develop during skateboarding practice. Here is my story. I started work at this company about 3 months ago. They had a basketball rim set to official height, etc. At first I couldn't reach, but since I had picked skating for past 3months I quickly noticed an increase in height as I jumped up to the point I could touch the rim now. Practice!
for all the questions where your tryin to keep your back foot on or other little specific things...make sure you square and standing up straight of the board and pop straight down. making sure I kept my head back more was helpful for me. but otherwise just keep doing heelflips. this shit takes time and patience and perseverance!
It's all in the heel. Kinda like doing an ollie but just sliding it of at the corner pocket.

I usually catch my heelflips when his board is just upside down and it feels HUGE!

damn right it is! seen a lot of pros struggle doing heelpflip with their original stance.
I edit with Adobe Premiere but the slow motion is smooth because it was shot with a high speed camera at 1,000 frames per second.

i had them so well that i could do it first try pretty much whenever i wanted. a year after i quit skating i tried one and did it first try

nuthug4927 i tore my acl and my meniscus completely. and after it healed up, i started working full time. if i break my arm skating, my boss isn’t going to pay me to lay out, and skateboarding doesn’t pay the bills :( i’d like to get back to it eventually

When you flick it with your front foot, try to imagine ninja air-kicking someone in your path of...skating.
If you flick it in the somewhat right spot with enough strength, it's gonna fly up, so you just gotta tuck and catch, burr

so guys what we have to know?
he flick deck so hard that it spins actually for double heelflip but he catch it after it rotate once. that' means we have to pop strong just like for ollie and flick it hard but correctly. and most important thing it's catch the board right in time.
p.s. if i'm concentrated on catch - i land it most of time, and that works not only for heelflip.
also don't forget that you must try to jump high af + pop it also hard to get high trick)0
most people find out, that heelflip much harder than kickflip. even i was thinking like that too before i land heelflip. but after i found out how to do the right heelflip, i found heelflip more easier than kickflip. because its basically an ollie with kicking to the front with ur heel

He flipped the board away from his feet in the video whereas when I practiced that type of trick I Ollied the board and it flipped towards me rather than away and I had kicked it over mid air landing immediately on the deck and on my ankles.
Result: Kickflip
I did it today.
That's my first flip trick.
I'm 37, I woudln't forget today until die.

I swear I've gotten worse at heelflips since learning them over a decade ago... Definitely ain't Neen Williams. That said, the thing that keeps them stuck to my feet is remembering to think ollie until the last second while in heelflip position. If you only kick out you wont get the consistency. You need to ollie into the flick. Hopefully I start taking my own advice so I can nail them down my local 6 set.

Exactly the same for me. Took me long enough to understand jumping with heel flick, not even close to kickflips -_-
it's crazy I suck at skateboarding and when I was younger first learning tricks I could heel flip before almost anything else. and I still cant do shit besides that and like 2 other tricks.
The reason why some people can do heelflips and not kickflips is because in heelflip you don't kick as close to the end of the tail. When attempting kickflips with this habit you simply kick the board in the wrong place, hence lack of spin.
