Just a suggestion, you should take frequency response measurements with an RTA mic during each phase, then you can see exactly what happens with each new addition
Because this dude hasn't taken frequency measurements of his room and frankly hasn't a clue what he's doing, he has wasted an obscene amount of money and there is zero low end treatment being considered. All he has done is kill the highs and the upper mids.
I been waiting for this video to drop! First off, Fabric wall is EXPENSIVE! I mean he never said it'd be cheap and Quality costs, but I just got a quote for the tracks by themselves, WITHOUT the tools and fabric. For those I'll look for alternatives first, if none i'll bite the bullet because I know it's worth it. I'm building my home studio with the help of these guys so thank you for posting these videos, I wanted to document my process with costs included but eh. Yeah watch ya'll pockets lol. Thanks Dude still helping me achieve this.
This really turned out very well. I was skeptical going from a the 12” insulation down to the 2” but surprisingly, it’s quite dead even with it not totally finished. I’m VERY proud of you and all that you’ve so far accomplished in this space. You seriously kicked some major butt these last few weeks!
I worry that your mids and highs are going to be super controlled but your bass is not….I’m not sure how 2” is going to be enough to absorb the bass end in any meaningful way?? I think you need a lot more depth and maybe a limp mass membrane to control the low end from my experience. Hope I’m wrong and it works out for tho Andrew, I remember being astounded at how flat Colts room was so I’m hoping yours is similar
@@AndrewMasters I hope you’re right cos looking at the lack of proper bass trapping and nothing on the back wall i reckon you’re going to have a pretty lumpy response below about 160hz….be interested to see the sweep….
@@jammynem Exactly what I thought. I would be happy to see the sweep too and hear Andrew's insights about it in the next videos. Anyway, thank you Andrew for your content, it's always refreshing and fun, I enjoy it a lot.
FINALLY!!! Been holding my breathe to see you take the next step. It's how I enjoy my morning coffee before work. I think I will go this route for my walls now that I see what you did. I wont be able to afford the kit you used but, I have an idea how to get the same results. Unfinished sheet rock walls I don't want to have to mud and tape. This will cover it up nicely and give me the dampening I need. Thanks A.M.... Keep those vids coming.
The fabric wall improves the absorption very much. It is very noticeable in the audio of the video. I'm interested into the SonarWorks measurements, if possible a comparison with the untreated and treated room.
Been feeling off the past few weeks and I realized I BEEN MISSING YOUR CONTENT MAN! Congrats on the progress with the room. Things looking good! Also appreciate the honesty with the measurement flubs etc... nobody's perfect - nice to see that on RUclips once in a while.
Now that both you and Colt did this fabric wall system I'm sold on this. I'm returning to the US from Costa Rica and have to build in a rental when I get there. Can't wait to start mine. Thanks for this.
Happy New Year, my friend,- glad to follow the birth of the new and soon to be reckoned with Epic Epicness Studios,- looking forward to seeing what amazing new experiences the coming year holds in store for you as a reward for all of the hard work you put in.
Bro! You did such a good job with cutting even on the rock wool side. It looks and sound fabulous! Love how much the lighter colors opened up the new room in comparison to the old room. Totally makes for nicer visuals on camera and I bet a much more open creative environment! Well done!
Great video and very helpful! Do the fiberglass panels need to be screwed into place, or do they just snap into the track? If screws are required, do they come with the panels, or what size should I use?
So my future writing space(won't be mixing in there for production, only for demo's) does have very thick Rockwool insulation, but has 9mm plywood on top of that. Would it negate all the bass trap effects, surely the long waves will pass right trough? I am going to be putting thick felt on top of it, and then install loads of slats to it with space in between to get a nice look and to act as deflectors.
Congratulations on the new space! Those tracks are super interesting… Are they equivalent cost wise to a conventional acoustic build up like you did before with wood studs and rock wool?
You are having a great time now. I expect you'll be having major fun once it's done. My problem is I fill up every empty space with more...stuff. Great project!
Hi Andrew. Cool DIY videos lately. Could you share what material your wall fabric is made of? Obviously it needs to be stretchy to give the best-looking result. Regards Magnus
Would love to see the RT60 per octave in this room. Looks great, but I would assume that 2" insulation is going to greatly reduce RT60 in the treble, but leave the midrange and bass untouched.
I need just the fiberglass cores from Fabric Wall. I have GIK fabric left over. Where can I buy them? The site doesn't have purchase options or distributors...
Looks like your monitor stands have barely enough room to fit the Iso Acoustic stands. Are you worried they will vibrate and topple over? I’m in the same situation and I’m scared to add my Iso Acoustic stands so for now my monitors are just sitting on the normal stands.
Please take care that the Air easely! move in the Absorbtion!! Think about your EDensiy of your Material you use..Do you plan some Basstraps too? Cuase with this thin Material you can only catch the High Frequency.:)
Hey Drew, it's sounding awesome and looking good. I would say it's a blessing you have a break. I just completed my studio overhaul, and one thing I regret is going too fast and not able to change an idea without undoing most of what you did. My recommendation, take your time 😎🥃
Hey Andrew - looks really nice! Getting ready to do something similar, wondering about the nail gun you used and any tips on size of nail etc.? Wondering if the nail gun splits the track at all?
Awesome as always! I just can't imagine doing all this work in a rental knowing it will be a temporary install. Can't wait to see the end result though!
I am loving the track system that Colt and you use to achieve a smooth seamless sound wall, but at the risk of asking a stupid question, what if you reversed the dynamic of “Wisper walls and wood floors ( that would of course be treated with some carpets) and instead had the floor carpeted and the walls with hanging treatment (like carpet is to the wood floor) how would reversing this affect the outcome (Pros & Cons) why one way is better/worse than the other??? FYI: I’m buying a new house that has carpet in the upstairs studio area (very similar to your and Colt’s) and wanted to get some feedback before I needlessly rip up the “BRAND NEW” carpet in the Brand New house just replace it with wood flooring!!! Thanks in advance for your in put!!!
Man studio building is hard work. I would be concerned about sound escaping in a rental. The sound resonance inside the room is one thing but what about the neighbors? I would hate to have gone through all of that work to get hassled by neighbors during recording sessions.
Dear Andrew many thanks for sharing : D Looks and sounds really nice : D How much did all cost? Or would cost? ^^ One Love! Always forward, never ever backward!!
..Great, thanks for sharing!Keep it up!..and; if you're enthusiastic and frenetic about studio builds enough, you even tend to forget to slurp your coffee, bc you just want to get things done! 😄Know that too well, happened a lot!
I wonder if it would have been helpful to put paper drop cloth on the wall before the fiberglass... thinking when you take down the treatment the walls will have fiberglass all over them. Also looking forward to seeing what you do with that mini split.
Not sure if you’ll get time to answer my question Andrew but it’ll ask anyways lol. Would you have installed the fiberglass insulation on the very first wall where the window is located? Or is there a reason why you had the rockwool first and then the fiberglass? Sorry it turned out to be 2 questions.
@@AndrewMasters thx for the quick reply Andrew I appreciate you taking the time. I’m about to move into my new place and looking to do treatment like this.
Love these episodes, looking forward to seeing how the finished room compares to your previous space sound wise. Also love the fact that you're doing this with the dark horse podcast on in the background...nice job
thank you for this video full of ideas, It's great to have such a good studio to make music👍🏽 however I have some concerns: I'm moving into an apartment with my little family (my wife and our baby ) and I plan to make one of the rooms my home recording studio except that it is really small, barely 9 m2 with one of the walls directly outside, on the road. So with the passing of cars, children who shout when they are having fun, I fear for my voice recordings and I really don't want to be forced to go and do my voice recordings in another studio, and in plus I really can not take the risk of renting a room because I start and I do not have a big budget. I am therefore hesitant between the fact of either building, despite the "smallness" of the space, a small voice recording booth (1.70 m long by 1.30 m wide) or just dealing with the acoustics of the room (the sound insulation being impossible given its narrowness according to what they say) and use a portable screen absorber miscreen (funny pro). But that remains apprehensions so I would really like to have your expert opinion, it would be really too nice, thank you.
What a cool series! Super educational and also very relevant with the current housing market 😅. Going to be looking into this when my fiancé and I move here shortly!
hello nice studio and well done i like to watch your youtube files from my home in the netherlands and i can now also follow you well because i am learning english keep it up greetings joeri a youtube viewer
I've just finished building 11 panel with Safe'n sound, this is quite OK, but as soon as you need to cut them, the result is average, the wool would not stay exactly in place in the panel, I would much prefer to use the fabric wall system you have used.
How will you handle your lower frequencies? I feel like handling the mid/high frequencies is not that hard and as a techno producer I really struggle with the bass in my room. Any tips or ways you are going to handle it? Cheers, great videos!
I was wondering whether you can actually order from fabric-wall if you live outside of America. I checked out their website and couldn't find a way to order (or even prices...) Is it geoblocked or do you have to custom order everything via email?
