Unless you were a child, sitting in a theater on opening night in 1993, you'll never know the confused murmurs and whispers that came from that crowd throughout the movie's runtime. We all left the theater SO confused. ..and yet now? I love the movie.
I watched this movie back in 2020. It was my little sister's birthday, and she was obsessed with Mario, so me and my family all watched this on the night before her birthday! My step-dad burnt a DVD copy of this movie and created a special main menu that said "Happy birthday" just for her! My mom thinks it was a dumb movie but I enjoyed it! It was fun!
Could you say this is based from SUPER MARIO WORLD!?(Saying Stuff from Dinosaur land and shit but still BEST OF AVERAGE MOVIE And BEST SUPER MARIO GAME ON SUPER NINTENDO)
1:53 Mario: This is crazy! We went under the river, but this can't be Manhattan. Where is this place?!! Luigi: I don't know, I ain't been to Manhattan in a couple of weeks. Mario: Must've been a bad couple of weeks.
Gonna be honest here, the movie itself wasn't that great, but holy crap the city looked so amazing, the high stacked walkways, the neon signs everywhere, the fungus overgrowth, the crazy reptilian people, and best of all the electric car power grid. It's such a cool dystopian concept.
Ruderary, it sucks this Dinohattan doesn’t exist! People would never be bored there, I know I wouldn’t! Thwomp boots and the neon colors and the reptile people
I used to see this as the Saturday Afternoon Movie every now and then in the 90s. I totally misunderstood, I thought they were INSIDE the Earth. Since it was always "night" (this city being inside of a warehouse) and the cars had all of those lights on them, I thought they were inside the Earth and Koopa wanted to get to the surface. It almost makes more sense that way
This place looks amazing! The this version of the mushroom kingdom really looks like it’s a lost city. And that boom a really gives you the cold shoulder.
I came here to compare how Mario and Luigi enter compared to the 2023 movie and then hear Mario say "What is this place?" just like we heard in the first teaser. It was a reference all along!
I wish this city would exist! The Boom Boom bar would be a blast, the desert during the day and boom boom bar at night.Especially the Thwomp boots, why don’t we have these in 2021?!!
And as a perverted fanboy, I can't help but wonder - _what would sex with one of them be like?_ Shit, when I can't even find a human girl to have sex with?!
It still had several other problems too big to gloss over if you remove all the loose connections to Mario, but that probably would have made it like at least not super awful.
Did the movie inspire Mario 64 by having you jumping through paintings to enter different worlds? The movie came out before the n64 version so I wonder
"No, you're not watching Lord of the Rings here, this is actually from Mario Bros: The Movie! That's spectacular, isn't it? Look at him spinning there, all different colors... it's like he's in a disco!" - adamwestslapdog, 2007
Okay! So in my opinion, I don’t find this movie bad. I find it pretty good! But the new Mario Bros Movie is more EPIC!! But the only thing I love about this movie, is that the one and only Frank Welker plays as Yoshi, Goomba’s & the other creatures in this movie!
I remember seeing both in theaters in 1993! One of the best summers ever! I rented this movie every weekend in 93! I was just a kid then and I miss those days. I wish Dinohattan existed because I’d love to live there!
Hollywood 100 percent needs to stop with the 'we come from the real world ' idea, because it just makes things unnecessarily convoluted. It is always just better to make them part of the world, period.
Tails: Wow! Tromp is a bar? Viridi: This is not the Mushroom Kingdom…. Ness: Nope! It’s Dinohattan. Ashley: How is Dinosaurs even related to Super Mario Bros?
Well Mario Bros 3 takes place on Dinosaur Island, so I guess they must’ve played that for like a few min and assumed the whole series was about dinosaurs then. That’s my best guess.
Objectively, it's shitty from a video game adaptation movie perspective, but if you try and ignore of it being a "mario movie", it's actually quite decent tbh for me.
Luigi: IM GONNA KILL EM Mario: NAH your not gonna kill em not if I get there first I'm gonna break every bone in their body and THEN IM GONNA KILL EM IM REALLY GONNA KILL EM
I don’t know why I always like that part of the cop on light post trying to get those boots 2:11 , was he keeping the streets clean or did he personally want them
unique, charming, extremely !COOL¡, a matchless desigh for a city from an alternate dystopian universe, so futuristic, very cyberpunk from a side, and dark in the other one, with the classical ''touch'' of decadence in a contaminated city, a style like this could be used in a much modern future game of the franchise, perhaps with Wario and Waluigi as bosses of a level like this, YEAH.
anyway that reptile woman, is perhaps a reference to Birdo, but the ''childbirth'' surely was a very painful matter, (3:14), poors of the girls in that dimension, !OUCH¡.
Since I was very younger, me and my twin brother had never understood this scene at 3:27. Why this guy keeps riding when there is just in front of him a barrier. Moreover, his outfit is reminiscent of Mario's
I think it's because the ground floor is a power grid used for the cars, it's probably not safe to walk or ride on. That is why there are walkways everywhere. The biker has no choice but to ride on these walkways. Just me guessing here, or he could be a Paperboy cameo :)
Unless you were a child, sitting in a theater on opening night in 1993, you'll never know the confused murmurs and whispers that came from that crowd throughout the movie's runtime.
