- Daffy Duck is a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE Person. Coming back with a fresh The Looney Tunes Show Review is one on The Float, a Daffy Duck-centric episode where he does probably one of the most morally reprehensible things I've seen in a while -- and it's GREAT. It's rare to see such a selfish, weaselly character done in such a clever and entertaining way. If you haven't seen The Looney Tunes Show The Float, you should!

How do you feel about the version of Daffy Duck that was in wabbit and the Looney Tunes Show for HBO Max
That's actually what made me feel bad for the other characters: I HATED Daffy for being a bad person and not wanting to change.
@Hobbes you beat me to it.
@@animezilla4486 You mean Bob Clampett's Daffy, right?
I think it takes some really good writing to make a character so reprehensible yet lovable. Why else do you think characters like Eric Cartman, Bojack Horseman and Sterling Archer are so well-liked?
I love how in this show, they don’t portray him like a lovable rascal or like he’s a funny and dimwitted goof like modern day Patrick Star. They condemn and punish him

This aged like vinegar.
When writing an annoying, deplorable, underhanded character like Daffy there has to be a line for the audience. Where they can understand why other characters in the show are annoyed by them, but they can't be annoying to the audience, because then they won't want to watch.
Usually Daffy walks that line perfectly for me, but this is the one episode where he tripped and fell over it to just being unlikable.
Exactly, if you don't have Daffy as part of your list of characters you deeply hate, you have to have serious issues
In this episode, he was a 6 star, black blooded despicable character
@@justinterry7853 tbh I love daffy , as an entertaining character but he did get on my last nerve that episode

Yeah Daffy is funny when he’s casually selfish, rude, pessimistic and cowardly and when he does things on impulse without thinking about his actions or the consequences,
but deep down, he still has a basic moral compass and feels genuinely bad when he goes too far or truly hurts someone.
That’s the most likeable version of Daffy in my opinion
It's a similar thing with Deadpool's character in the comics he's a horrible person but you can't help but like him because of how funny and entertaining he is.

@@MaherandIbrahimsAvengers Even if it's possible that Wile can solve his problems just by ordering food online, that Road Runner is a dick.
Sylvester however doesn't have that luxury and is often at the mercy of neglectful owners and sadistic mice, which they have none. In fact, almost all cats in that universe suffer from the curse to the point that evil characters will triumph over the innocent, Fresh Airedale is the ultimate example.
You know the fact that Daffy is a horrible person makes it so much more heartwarming when he actually tries to do right by people like the talent show episode with Gossamer sure in that instance he was projecting his own experience onto Gossamer but in those moments he was thinking about another person’s best interests even if he was viewing them through the distorted window of trying to fix his own failed talent show attempt through a kid
She duck and furry
There's a theory that the reason he's like this is because of the constant bullying he faced growing up by porky and the reason he is so mentally unstable is partially if not all because of porky among others and porky knows this so that's why he hardly fight back
That makes sense why the way he treats Porky
What I find weird is so in the song chintzy porky gives daffy a childhood photo of themselves and then in the high school flashback we see porky as a jock aka a basketball player which is weird cause he’s short unless he can jump high and in one episode daffy wanted to be a basketball player but bugs told him that he was too short that didn’t stop porky from becoming one anyway I guess daffy and porkys relationship was like fox and the hound daffy being the fox and porky being the hound
There's something about this types of absolute terrible people that makes me wonder why I end up liking them
The line between a likeable terrible character and a hateful terrible character is very slim, I wonder how they succeed with the former.
Cause your only watching it from the outside
Well from my perspective.
There are multiple reasons as to why he is likeable while a terrible person.
First one is his abnormal or optimistically speaking divergent, narcissistic and in some cases psychopathic thinking that clearly makes him an anamoly.
But he has some limits imposed on that kind of thinking.
For example his laziness.
Lack of goals.
Planning
Organization.
These are his limiters.
And good thing he is not aware neither interested in working on this.
Why isn't he interested?
Well the answer is he doesn't have drive inside him anymore.
Or never had any.
Now the reason as to why we like him has to do with how he tries to do normal stuff aided by his abnormal thinking.
He explains his vicious plans that he makes on the go.
Usually involving lies just to do one normal thing.
We like him because all while having those vicious cunning plans. He is honest yes .... Honesty is why we like him.
He speaks his mind even though in society he is unacceptable.
Relaying to us that he is a threat.
A real psychopath never lets you know his abnormal thoughts ... Cuz they are aware they will get caught ..
And their plan will fail.
But since daffy doesn't have any plans he speaks out his mind. And raises the guards of the people around him.
Signaling them that he is a threat, a nuisance. But also relieves them that this nuisance is not trying to hide.
Also he is condemned a lot in the show.
So this is quite entertaining to watch.
It’s so weird looking back at the old Looney Tunes. How Daffy went from an Insane and very Happy screwball to the Worst person on earth
Thank Chuck Jones for that.

Daffy is hilarious and I wouldn't want to see him be in any other way besides his horrible horrible selfish being. Saying that, it's clear I'm in the minority in never wanting to see him succeed. I derive great pleasure from whenever karma hits him right only for him to not learn anything, more fun to me like that
You sir are not alone. Daffy is the best terrible person.
Yup it wouldn't be entertaining if he didn't experience consequences.
This is why I usually prefer egotistical and selfish Daffy over pure crazy Daffy, although they are pretty much entirely different characters.
It’s been bugging me just how stupid they made Daffy in this show. It’s one thing to have him be so full of himself but I can recall moments where he’s like an alien on another planet.
Duck dodgers
I wouldn't say he's stupid in the show, he just prioritizes knowing about the wrong things. For example, he doesn't know he needs to put his name, address, and birthdate on an official DMV document, but he knows that Soviet Russia was known for collecting information on its citizens, otherwise he wouldn't have made the comparison

I just love how he's so horrible yet the show writers know when to properly punish him. Daffy has no moral standards, very little conscience, and yet it's within these chaos you wanna see where Daffy is going and how far he'll go. Be it so silly as to not be friends with Porky over French Fries, helping a group of kids win a sports game but doesn't know anything about the sport, or becoming a City Counsel.

Daffy is gold
Huh... I guess this pretty much sums up my feelings on characters that are written to be bad people. As long as they end up losing by the end, they can be really entertaining to watch.
So, in others words: We love to hate Daffy.
This is very close to the Chuck Jones interpretation of Daffy; which is my personal favorite. Daffy Duck is an arrogant, deceitful, self-centered, greedy, materialistic dumpster-fire of a person, and yet watching him never gets old because he always gets his just desserts.
This episode proves there's no low Daffy won't sink to, and I say that's fine so long as the anvil drops. Which it did. HARD.
I despise what Chuck did to Daffy.
In the Tex Avery days Daffy was allowed to be his wacky self, before they dumbed him down and turned him into Bugs' stalker/jealous ex. In the Looney Tunes Show he's still a jerk, but at least he has more personality to add. And a girlfriend.

Thanks for making a video about this, my thoughts exactly. Because of how awful of a person Daffy is, he was my least fave character, but saying that, I think he really adds a lot to the show lmao
I'd almost be willing to call Daffy a villain, if not an antagonist for running Porky broke.
"You just proved my point! How am I the bad guy, here?" Is probably my favorite line in this whole series. It's either that or the whole "Am I a wizard?" conversation.
You missed the final scene where Daffy forces Porky to build him another parade float right after giving Daffy his kidney..
I think I'd describe him as narcissistic since he manages to be very charming for such a selfish and bratty person, he's a good example of how to execute that kinda character.
I consider him the Eric Cartman of the looney tunes show
He can be a maniacal manipulative mastermind with no remorse for his actions, or dumb as bricks
Lol this triggered me, that “have you ever known me to lie?” Line got to me the worst! Real people can act like this. I was raised by a Daffy Duck. 😮💨
Idea for a video: Is "Big Nate" REALLY what Nick needs ?
I always felt Daffy being unlikable was supposed to be the point of the joke. No one gives a damn about him and he often faces repercussions for his actions.
OK I found information on car washes because now I was curious those rubber things are literally just called rubber flaps
there was also that episode when Daffy got rich stealing Bug’s design for an automatic carrot peeler, outmoding his regular type, leading to Bugs to go broke, selling the house and having to move back into his rabbit hole
Daffy is one of my favorite characters in this show for this exact reason.
He's a sellout, selfish, manipulative, a psychopath, impersonated a cop and a professor, jumps to conclusions, bullies children, lies, uses his best friend on more than one occasion (including bankrupting him), thinks death is funny, is insensitive, sexist, and makes fun of the elderly.
Also he's an adulterer... kinda (Daffy asked Porky on a date, but goes out with Tina instead, leaving Porky sitting on a curb.)
I mean those are just quirks
He's Wayne's counterpart, in terms of everything you said
I commend the writers. I could never consistently write someone so deplorable. It’s very rare he has like…. Moments of being good.
Daffy literally is the best part of this show like he is so selfish and mean it's ridiculous 😭 he got better as the show goes on
I'm curious, are carwashes where you stay outside the car a common thing? I've only been through carwashes where you stay in the car as the machines wash it
@TurboGamer I've seen it a couple times in other cartoons, so I'm assuming it does exist, but I've never actually seen one IRL or in actual photos/videos

It's because he was lying to us about his school new edition.Everyone back in his day called him david dork It made him go so much that not even the losers were to sit with him
But those are just Daffy's quirks!
And I freakin' love him.
In the looney tunes show, daffy is the most manipulative, inconsiderate, irritating piece of shit i've ever seen
I love him so much ❤
The one thing I love about this show is that change in these characters personalities. The way the writers made each Looney Tune character(minus Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote) would only work in this Seinfeld-esque setting. Each episode is somewhat in a vacuum, where each character gets to act however horribly they want to, and we’d still enjoy them because of how they’re written. It’s like “Dan Vs.”
I still like Daffy because he's so bad, that the absurdity loops around to him being good again.
Like stealing money from a heart-diseased, cancer patient with no remorse.
Looney Tunes Show really seemed to go into depth about Daffy’s background. I think it was established in Fish and Visitors that his parents fought a lot, and it seemed that his only escape was his grandmother. While of course that doesn’t excuse him for being a terrible person, it’s that a combination of parental fighting and constant bullying at school can mess with someone as not everyone tolerates it in the same way. That could explain as to why Daffy is so terrible to Porky since the latter was the one who made his high school life a nightmare. However there are a few episodes that I can think of that Daffy was actually less bad and developed a little. Like how in the Truffle episode, when Porky was hanging on a cliff over rushing water, Daffy told him to let go of the truffle so he can use two hands to climb up. Granted, Daffy jumped back in to get it and it turned out later it wasn’t a truffle but Daffy still grew a bit as a character.
Daffy has always been my favourite character
He is a terrible person, but he can be a likeable guy at times
Besides, he's really funny too
This could also be a revenge for highschool
I think there's a stark difference between characters like Daffy and characters like Cartman
Daffy is an overall terrible person but he's written that way to an extent and has his moments that highlight his good side, whereas Cartman can be really excessive at times
I think that one of the funniest conversations is this one
Bugs: Where'd you get that?
Daffy: Why didn't you tell me I have a bump on my beak?!
Bugs: I never noticed a bump.
Daffy: Do not patronize me. If there's something wrong with me that I don't know about, then you owe it to me, as my best friend, to tell me.
Bugs: All right. You're narcissist. You're a sociopath. You're probably a psychopath. You're a...
(Line was cut after the elevator door closes, lifts to the carpark then ding sounds)
... You're paranoid, sexist, and you make fun of the elderly.
Daffy: Those are just quirks.
What I love about Looney Tunes characters is also the fact that the main ones can be jerks too, I love how Bugs, Sylvester and Daffy can be as nasty as their villains
Silvestre es en realidad un villano pero es cierto muchas veces piolin se sobrepasa con el hasta el correcaminos es tan malo y mucho más que el coyote
