Hi, Harli- I am 72 years old and have grown plants for most of my adult life. However, I have been learning so much from your videos each time I watch them! Thanks! I think you're kind and funny and an excellent speaker. And you have a green thumb!
I could talk about my golden pothos all day. That plant is amazing. I've propagated mine so much and have it EVERYWHERE. Low light, high light, inside, outside. Also, my fittonia is doing great in low light.
Same here pothos are the love of my life especially my golden pothos! I have sold like 30 plants from the one mother plant and I have 4 huge ones now plus all the babies alll over the place 😂
I love pothos. I brought a jade pothos 6 years ago. It kept dying back and dying back to one leaf. Last year I started watching videos and now it's as good as the day I bought it. I got two marble pothos to grow. They are all amazing plants
I’d love to see your sisters apartment plants! I love seeing the way people style and place their plants💕 love this video btw and you and the plants obvi haha
This is exactly how I kept wishing other videos would go, when they're about plants in the home and their ighting! It would be so frustrating when they would bring the plants all in one place rather than show the actual lighting conditions it could live in. Made it much harder to grasp the concept of light. Thanks so much! For sure wouldnt hate seeing videos like these for more plants 😅🙈
I loved this video so much!! You did such a good job describing the lighting, so informative and easy to understand. I really liked seeing the plants in their conditions to show off how tolerant they are. Quite helpful, so thank you !!
I just found your channel during this summer because of my sister! I decided to become a plant mom this summer as well and it has helped my mental heath so much. Your videos have been very helpful! I’m looking for more low light indoor plants, so this video is a gem as well!💜
With all the chaos this past year/& half I would be a total mess with depression and anxiety. Keeping busy with all my plants helped so much. They must listen to me cause they sure have grown.👏👏
It has done wonders for mine too!! I have always had a need to “care for” something, so I find at least 1 needy friend. I’ve learned how unhealthy that is for me!!! So I have poured my need into my plants!!!
A video of your familys’ plants would be really fun. I remember you saying your mom was the Hoya person and it would be cool to see her collection too.
Thank you for showing us where you actually keep your plants!!! I’m always afraid to pull my plants away from the window, but it’s probably okay for some of them.
All of my prayer plants, regardless of variety, grow like weeds for me in low light. They push out new growth year round, in the darkest corners and interior spaces of my Midwest condo. Super rewarding plants to grow.
They don't have to be grow bulbs for plants to thrive under! My room has no windows and I have a set of 3 normal bulbs that I keep my plants under and they've been doing great for years now actually..
I have never actually had many plants far away from a north facing window because I thought it was too little light but then I'll definitely give it a try with some of the plants you recommended 😊
I needed this video :) I'm always worried my plants aren't getting enough light then I see yours in what I have considered way too dark corners in my own house
I was struggling with keeping my alocasia alive until i put it on the ledge of my tub in the bathroom. Didnt think there was enough light since its next to a north facing window but it seems to be loving it & pushing out new leaves often. The leaves are definitely on the smaller size though.
i recently moved to a new apartment where we only face the north window/doors. my peace lily is already starting to bloom & seems so much happier! would recommend.
Thanks! So happy for a new video! You look great! That baby is getting closer to making his grand entrance! I am pretty excited for you guys! I have a really good friend whose little boy just had his 2 month, I love it! Every one having babies 😍
I impulse-bought another golden pothos a couple months ago because it was just so big and beautiful already, I couldn’t resist. I’ve proceeded to leave it in my bathroom with really low, north light covered by a blind because I don’t know where to put it, and she is THRIVING. It’s wild. She’s grown more in 2 months than my other one has-one I’ve had for a lot longer in way better light. Go figure lol.
When I first got into houseplants, I neglected to determine what direction my window faces. So I got some low-light tolerant plants, thinking it was the best option. My plants started burning and needing more water. I eventually pulled up the compass app and my window is 100% facing South. I’m glad my ZZ plant and (especially) my sanseverias are happy anywhere in the room, because now they kinda filter the sunlight and prevent my lower-light plants from burning!
Thank you so helpful actually showing distance from window and window itself !! Yes sisters plant tour would be great ! And love !! That white butterfly syngonium thanks great video xx
You said before the scindapsis exotica does well too! I took your advice on that one specifically. I only have N,NW windows and was really stressing about it. In one video you said yours was pulled back about 10 feet back so I did the same with mine (so more window room for more plants!) And its thriving still! Thanks for all your content Harli!
Wow girl you are busy busy busy but I hope you never stop youtube with plants I love watching and learning from you. You live in the same place as me so I think you're very relatable. Thank you thank you thank you for all yourhard work 💚💚💚💚
Hi Harli, I love a low light plant, I have a lot of Pothos, and where I have them they seem to be okay, they do get light from my east and north facing windows, my Golden Pothos gets light from my south facing window, she is about 15 feet away and seems happy, I also have the Pothos N Joy and the Manjula, they are only 3 feet away from the window but off to the side and they are super happy there as well. I also have 13 Syngoniums that are about 4 feet away from that south facing window and seem to be just fine there as well, they are not directly in front of the window they are off to one side. Thanks for another great video, take care, it is always so good to see you, sending love and hugs, bye for now.
Your lucky to have all that light. My house is very dark and I struggle to keep plants happy unless they are by the window. My living room is very dark I can't even grow anything in there and running lights can get expensive on the energy bills. My kitchen is about the only room where I can grow plants and I get some light at the bedroom window. I'd love to be able have plants all around my house but I can only put them where there is light. Here in the UK dark homes are quite common. Your darkest corner is probably my brightest spot.
My Philodendron micans and Scindapsus Exotica seem to like lower light areas in my apartment. When they are too close to the grow lights they kinda bleach out the leaves! Loved the video💚
Hey there! It’s so strange but everything I’ve seen about the care of cardboard palm including the care tag that came on mine recommends full sun for 6-8 hours a day! I’m glad to know yours is doing so well in low light…gives me hope for bringing it back in soon. Thanks for this video!
I love the pothos! I've been struggling to keep plants alive in my apartment... it's a basement unit, and incredibly dark, even with all of my "windows" (if you can even call them that) open wide. The only main windows have shrubs in front of them, or are facing other buildings, so not a single window in my house gets direct sunlight! I went and got a grow light and haven't had much success with herbs, but I'm hoping that I can finally make something work with low light specific plants...
Would love to see a tour of your sisters plants! Also, I know you thought about doing membership/patreon but decided against it due to others response but I just want to say if you did decide to do it ever I would 100% support and I know many other people would also ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful as always Harli! I disagree that calathea are generally low light plants..I have several that love direct afternoon light here in the north but my makoyana has been struggling anywhere sooo perhaps she is a lower light plant? ☺I love that you still mention the golden pothos! I never get tired of seeing them and they are seriously 🤯 fantastic!
Thank you this was helpful! I was wondering where to put my new heart leaf philodendron and I think I’ve found a good spot now that I see where you’ve put yours! Also, I would like to see your sister’s plants in a future video!!
Hi Harli 🙂 What grow light bulbs do you use in your bathroom in your regular light fixtures? I've been looking to buy some and am pretty sure you had said you have some in your bathroom that can be used in regular light fixtures, that your plants are doing good with. I love your channel, you put out great content. Thank you and keep doing you girl!
I just moved and have a huge north facing window and gets quite a bit of light for most of the day. My desk sits right across from it on the other side of the room, so I have a pothos and am always propagating plants on it. I really want to get a few larger plants for around the room! I just got my first monstera ( monstera deliciosa ) and am literally in love! I want more now! My cat keeps trying to eat it's leaves though witch makes it less beautiful... if anyone has tips on stopping your cats from eating your plants, that would be very appreciated!
I have 4 cats, only 1 of the 4 LOVES to chew on plants. We have found that stiffer leaves like a snake plant, christmas cactus, rubber tree he doesn't ever touch. Floppy thin leaves like a dracaena he kept picking at so we keep that away from him. We have no tips cause it doesn't matter what we tried, he still will find a way to get to it. We just now buy plants that have stiffer leaves and he has no interest in them. We also relocated the plants he picks at to a different room which we keep closed
My cat 🐈⬛ has no interest in my 100+ plants. If she wants my attention and I am working with my plants 🪴 I just stop what I am doing and give her a little attention then she goes on her merry way. Best wishes 🙋♀️😊
@@HarliG you should do just a plant basics 101, showing what you use and how. Even things like what makes a well draining soil to pot size and leaf maintenance. I love you and your videos but would love to see your basics.
I was just re watching some of your old videos and I watched the low light plant one! I was thinking it would be cool if you reacted to it and tweaked any of the info you originally gave!
I feel like Raven ZZ need more light than the regular ZZ. I had on in my bedroom that started looking terrible and the lighting was the only thing I could figure out that was causing it to look to bad🤷 I could definitely be wrong though!
Hi Harli! Your low light plants all look so health and pretty. Is it Morgan's plants you're talking about? I've missed seeing her in your videos and would like to see a tour of her plants. If not Morgan, I'd still like to see a tour. LOL! Thank you so much for sharing your low light plants!
i love how your white butterfly looked in your bathroom 😍I only gave mine North light from above for about a month & all the small leaves under the big ones died off, it looked like a small umbrella😂
I have a golden Pothos on my fridge, nowhere near a window and the main plant is right under a spot light and I kid you not, it’s doing so so well from that normal spot light 🤯🤯
I love them all my pothos and heart leaf philodendron get very little light and they are thriving my zz s are also doing great in very little light do you know if devils backbone do well in low light
I hope you have a nice weekend! 🥰
I saw some lemon lime maranta (cuttings?) in your bathroom… how’s she doing? Didn’t she get spider mites awhile back?
So far it's going good ^^ 🪴 also would love to see a houseplant tour of your sisters apartment!
I would love to see your sisters collection 🪴💚

yeees, every houseplant tour I want them to show the windows/light sources, but they almost never do
I love seeing the locations and hearing the conditions they are in. That is so helpful!
My favorite low light is my Raven ZZ
Very true, first we should know about the suitable condition they love to be in.
