    You may think that you need a ton of sun and a green thumb to keep houseplants alive, but that's not always the case. Almost all the indoor plants shown in this video can grown in indirect light and some even in windowless rooms. If you are looking for indoor plants that are low maintenance and require little light, this video is for you.

    Thank you for addressing which plants are toxic to pets or not!
    Having a curious puppy who can and will get her little mouth onto everything I bring into the house, regardless what I do to keep it away from her, makes plant shopping hard. I have been searching for indoor plants which might be good to try, and every video I've had to keep pausing at each suggestion to google "is this pet safe" before I get attached, but you did the hard work for me! Great video for information and styling low light, easy maintenance plants. I’ve researched this topic for awhile before I delved into plant-parenting. I have around 50 house plants (mostly low light tolerant plants), and have killed a bunch including orchids, before finally figuring out what works best for my place. My plants are happy and so am I. Thanks for sharing 🪴

    Thank you.💕. Ferns can get root bound but you have to check them every six months or so and then remove them from their pot and remove excess roots to keep your ferns healthy. I put mine outside in the rain too. Their is something about rain water that helps keep them healthy.

    Thank you for this great video!
    I appreciate you also mentioning watering schedules and making sure you understand each plants own needs. One of the best things I've done after starting a plant collection, is checking each plant daily, having a moisture meter and not doing a scheduled water day! So many factors can contribute to those needs and can change week to week. My sunny window plants will not need as much water after a week of gloomy weather, etc.
    Also I got a cutting of a spider plant that is just green, not variegated. I find this type to be a more vigorous grower, the babies are big! And they don't get brown tips.. Also, when I put the variegated and non variegated varieties together in a pit, the variegated for some reason do so much better!

    Like you, I have killed all the ferns I have bought and I love them. Sigh... My money tree on the other hand, has grown form a little thing I got at the grocery store to almost 4' tall in the span of four years. Someone gave me a great tip for vases: if you don't want water marks on favourite glass vases, put the plant or flowers in a plastic bag and put the whole thing inside the vase. Happy flowers, happy vase, happy you!

    here in the northeast, plants need more light than one might think. i find most plants thrive in more light than less, but that doesnt necessarily play out in other areas of the country. i have had my houseplants for over 45 yrs. and i take them outside every summer and keep them in shade while outdoors. many of my plants, like jade, snake, dracaena, get flowers, b/c i bring them inside in the fall and keep my house cool. overwatering is the biggest mistake most ppl make. i really love my green children! i cant imagine my life without them.

    • @jjpp2216
      @jjpp2216 3 года назад +3

      This is very true. I live in Toronto and much of what people call low-light is really moderate-light here. The only true low-lights I’ve found are syngonium and and snake plant. And I guess zz. But the latter two really don’t grow at all in shade (but they hang in and definitely don’t die).

    I can say a peace lily is seriously neglect resistant. I brought my peace Lilly in to protect it from hurricane Ian. I put her out of the way to keep my kids from accidentally damaging the Lilly. I brought in a bunch of plants. Lilly was forgotten for 2 months lol she was completely dry and layed flat down on the floor. Pettiful doesn’t discribe this plants state! My husband tried to throw the lilly away. I soaked her in water and a few hours later half the plant actually stood back up. Now she looked awful but she came back. Been several weeks now and she is solid green now and regrown a lot. Few brown spots. We cut all the dead off. We was shocked the peace Lilly survived us. Such a gorgeous plant.
