    Been following your channel for a looong time man and first time I ever want to comment about it. Thank you so much for actually reacting to music like, literally. Not putting exaggerated expressions to look entertainin or trying to get attention with absurd acts like some others do. Focusing on what you are listening completely and paying attention to what musicians were trying to do. When I watch your videos I know that I will get some honest opinions. Not pretending like you love everything you listen to, just to get subscribers. Long message but I felt like I had to say it. Much respect for your work as a Dream Theater fan from Turkey. Keep it up. One last thing; Would be nice to see you react to Dream Theater - Sacrificed Sons Live (Score) sometime. Not album version :)

      Dude yes Sacrificed Sons Score version is the best version. In fact he needs to react to Score entirely since it is, in my opinion, their best live dvd.

    • @kalas-kurt
      @kalas-kurt 6 лет назад

      Nah not their live things. Pretty much all of labries vocals are being re recorded afterwards, so don't bother. But their creative work is amazing.

    • @mangafreak923
      @mangafreak923 6 лет назад +1

      Kalas-Kurt Different opinions, but I find it hard to believe that James re records his vocals when he sounded awful on Chaos in Motion and Once in a Livetime. I mean re recording means you want it to sound better, but he didn't sound good on those two. I think he was on fire during Score, couldn't find anything to complain about.

  • @chessbrainiac
    @chessbrainiac 6 лет назад +13

    These two songs were originally meant to be one 25 minute song, but they decided to split it up into two parts, and put them at each end of the record. Perhaps a wise decision, as the opening part works really well as an opener, and the epic conclusion works really well as a closer on the album. That being said, playing them together sounds really awesome too.

    • @martinjelinek3676

      Yeah, on the otherhand... The end of The ministry of lost souls is also epic, so... But yeah, I agree with you.

    I don’t know why James LaBrie is never in the conversation regarding greatest metal singers. His voice is damn powerful when he’s on. He’s right up there with guys like Dio and Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate in my humble opinion. Maybe because Dream Theater has a more instrumental slant vs other metal bands. But even if he has to stand around half the time when he sings it’s great! 😉. 🍻🤘🏻🖖🏼

    • @Mantis.Sartinoli
      @Mantis.Sartinoli 6 лет назад +2

      I think he's been hit and miss live, maybe that's why...In studio, he is awesome, he is versatile and can hit those high notes as well as sing those agressive heavy parts...I think he suits the band perfectly...Not one of my top vocalists, but still awesome!

    • @DrummerRF
      @DrummerRF 5 лет назад +1

      I think after his terrible throwing up till your vocal chords are fucked incident a long time ago he has never been able to fully recover. He does struggle now and then with his live vocals. At the score 25th anniversary performance he was amazing. But then a singer like Daniel Tomkins is just so much better live in my opinion. LaBrie is damn fucking good though

    • @garypicher1225
      @garypicher1225 5 лет назад +3

      LaBrie is in a really weird spot for a few reasons... first, the food poisoning hurt him severely, and I think beyond the physical effects it shook him mentally and emotionally for upwards of a decade. But second, and maybe more importantly, his vocals are *hard*. No shade whatsoever to Dio and Dickinson because when you listen to them they are absolutely fantastic, but their vocal parts tend to be written to accentuate their strengths. Dream Theater, from what I can tell, writes music first, and then James fits his vocals into it. Listen to something like the studio version of Take the Time from 2:10-3:25, for example, and the vocal gymnastics are all over the place. It's not a simple matter of just hitting a note and holding it - it's switching notes up and down and holding them for various lengths all over the place. In a lot of respects, comparing James LaBrie to other metal vocalists is just an apples to oranges comparison; they're all fantastic in their own way, but LaBrie is just a bit less traditional than the others.

      I love LaBrie’s studio performance, but he’s so incredibly inconsistent and not that great live, which is by far his biggest weakness. Even then, I wouldn’t want anyone else as a singer for DT

    In the presence of enemies (part one and two) is one of my most favorite pieces of music ever. It is lyrically and musically crafted quite perfectly and I still can't get enough of it. It is interesting and entertaining and I just love it to death and I am very happy that you basically feel the same :)

    You need to review Dream Theaters Instramedley in Bukadon. If you do Rush, pick Malignant Narcissism live, or Leave that Thing Alone, with Peart drum solo. All instrumentals.

    This song (both parts) is interesting in that it never really lets you settle into a groove or feel comfortable with it. There’s always that tension and a feeling that you don’t quite have your feet steady underneath you, and it fits so well into the theme of the song (battling your inner demons). While not one of my favorite songs of theirs, it’s hard to find fault with this one.

    Love your DT reactions! Been a fan since 1992 when i heard Pull Me Under on the radio. I heard PMU while driving. i got to my destination and couldn't leave the car till song was over :] Then the song ended and I was like... did the radio station just mess that up or what?? Don't forget to check out Mike Portnoy's (drummer) new band, Sons of Apollo. I'd say.. "Labyrinth" or "Opus Maximus"

    You should work some Fates Warning into your prog Saturdays, although there's probably not room for another band in there. They are prog-metal pioneers, and influenced Dream Theater in the beginning. Their early albums are like prog-thrash, then they streamlined their sound in the 90's. "Fata Morgana" and "Exodus" from their classic Awaken the guardian album are good choices, with the first singer. Then they have a 21 minute Epic called "The Ivory Gate of Dreams" that's worth a listen.
    You owe us back-to-back Rush now ;) "Cygnus X-1", then the sequel "Hemispheres"

    Dream Theater have been my favourite band for almost two decades, until I discovered Babymetal. Can I convince you to react to another song of theirs? AFAIK you have only heard Karate so far, and you said their music is "nothing out of the ordinary", which is definitely very wrong! Live is where they really shine, but unfortunately anything featuring a not officially released video is pretty certain to get blocked, so I'd like to recommend the live version of "Road o Resistance", which has an official video: ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html. It's not their most unique song, but it's great nevertheless, and the show is awesome! Please give them another chance, this band should not be judged on the basis of a single song! Thank you!

    Dream Theater= let's play and put in the songs with choirs no sense , trivial texts and anything else comes to mind, so the most insignificant music in the world comes out, but hey, just put complicated guitar solos that few can do (but none people who creates serious music wants to do ) and we are myths.
