This reinforces the idea that fighting games are actually strategy games without any pause. Impressive piece of information, even for a scrub in gold league like me.
I consider Tokido, Daigo or Punk to be similar to Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura for chess. They are consistently good and have a natural talent for strategy.
This is literally every game that exists. You're always going to have many different options especially in games like league but also VERY true in games like csgo.
@@pumpkin1escobar what about xcom
It's chess with an execution barrier
When you optimal route fails, a little strategic mashing can work in a pinch
When I drop a combo I like the "super intentional reset into throw" OS
On this episode of FGC Spacetime: *Quantum Combo Route Mechanics*
Lol reminds me of pbs eons
@@redwolfkun well I was thinking of PBS Spacetime :)
@@dongonzulman6478 ahh thats true, I watch eons more so its stuck in my head, tbf Brian could pass for the space time host aswell.
First off, damn fine video Brian.
Secondly, this is such a hard concept to explain to genuine novice players, I tried to tell a friend to just focus on Cr.Mk into fireball and it was like I’d asked them to decompile some secretive hidden code
The Thumbnail looks like Balrog Behemoth Typhoons.
In this TAP punch...
Brian's live video segments (preplanned sure, but still live) have better structure and flow than most of other ppl's scripted videos!
This one is actually super useful. Thanks Brian F
I love this type of content :D
My man Frian_B with the upload
The one guy said "the power of editing. I'm concerned about what was happening
Brian pog? Upload.
I am weak
upload pog? brian
Acting like a Brian pog isn't upload
@@ButcherParry Damn, she's bad
Videos like this is what I show my friends why, although I love sauce its usually a lot of brain and meter to make it happen
My 5K with hard knock down is better that your 10k because now I have 4 meters and a fuck ton of red to swap out
Another absolute banger. If you ever make this a consistent thing, I'd recommend titling the Playlist "Learning How To Learn"
Look at sajams content, i think his playlist already has the same name.
Edit: yes it does
Was about to suggest Sajam...
@@darkgoblin5681 I already watch him. But these videos aren't made for people like ms who already know what they're doing. They're for the others. And I support that big time.
Definitely a video that every player can get something out of unless you are already aware of all these concepts and applying them in your games and practice.
In that case let me congratulate you for becoming a pro player!
Just getting into SF5 and this channel is exactly what I needed.

@@DanDanReal You beat me to it again
I really like these videos honestly. The way Brian explains it is cool :) *I have my go to option available, i dont need to lab anymore right? WRONG*
Okay but can we talk about that intro< It instantly captures your attention and raises the question this video is about. Literally three seconds in and I know this one will be amazing!
Learned of you from NLBC pleasantly surprised you have that *rare* teacher's blessing.
Thanks for the tid bits I'll be passin this along with the scrubs I frequent. :3
Thanks a lot Brian F I am a spectator majority of the time. I am now starting to play a lot more casually and this helped out a whole lot. Keep up the great work hopefully you win CPT next time around.
So about cpt.
Sometimes it's realy hard to make right descision, even if you know the answer. Right now I'm realy struggle with Akira because of her multiply combo routes. You need to keep your eye on the distance and crouch/stand position to choose optimal route, and it's so hard for my almost auto-pilot style which I worked out on Cammy, who can just confirm into the drill on midscreen and DP in the corner after almost every button without so much thinking about it.
P.S. Thanks for your work Brian. Your channel really helped me to be a little bit better in fighting games.
11:04 I’m a complete spectator but I really do appreciate this insight into what’s going through your mind, it’s definitely a lot more than I realized
Great content, more like this pls!!!
No Brian you cant do this to me, fighting games can only be glorified rythm games!
fighting games are kinda of an RTS if you think about it
@@khalidpapa6299 Real time rhythm strategy
I really like these videos, I'm not trying to become a high level player or anything, but understanding what those players are thinking, how they build their combos and how they make decisions during matches is super interesting as a spectator
thanks Brian! I now have more helpful videos to explain my videogame choices to my friends!
0:04 taunt seems like a good option
0:15 on retrospect it’s easy. If not then not
0:37 into dash strait
1:04 uh huh
1:13 in a split second true. The hardest part
1:27 truue true true,the moment
1:59 oh you can get medium dash straight instead of light straight?? Interesting, that’s really cool
3:20 now charge tap,so
3:39 nice
4:06 oh you can get medium straight as well???!? Wtf i only thought you could get straight. Damn

That is kind of video that boost your level. Gold Content!
Very insightful video man. Thanks
Underated content, I appreciate videos like this from top level players
I usually learn a high stun and a high damage combo and i keep in mind my opponents stun
If he has high stun go for the stun combo, if he has low stun go for damage. I prioritise oki from my combos unless it kills which is why i always have a max damage combo to sneak that last bit of damage in and close rounds. I usually avoid combos that dont leave me with a lot of options.
Midscreen and corner versions
It sounds like a lot but it comes naturally over time and usually the combo structure stays similar with minor changes for each distance.
Learning a few very consistent combos is worth more generally than a lot of situational ones so that you wont miss out of free damage and stun.
Bro I promise you it does not sound like a lot 💀
Tap also gives you style points!
In hftf you get your S tier, you get a hit, default to oki as that’s the easiest shit and gives insane oki, do oki (basically 50/50 or ub for vice) and then do your big goinka boinka combo as you’re almost guaranteed
wow
I dont play sf as much as i used to but these tips go for ANY game. Just gotta adjust in a different way for what the game engine calls for.
Just a note, HK upper gives more oki than TAP. So it’s generally better if you can to go for HK Upper
Balrog_F
Thank you professor Brian
Ohh I saw this live....
more than happy to watch it again
Never knew these routes tbh. I've learned all my rog from you Brian. Haven't even finished the trials lmao
Final Fantasy 13 music. Love it
Another great video. Keep it up, Brian!
This is such a good video.
This was great. Thanks
Amazing video
Haha the chat at 0:23
naturally, this is why you should practice Situations more than the combos themselves. Having a combo for the situation is always better than just having combos. This is what Brian is trying to teach. what do I do if I confirm this button or string? This is what you should be practicing not that big 750 damage combo that you will almost never get
I love your videos Brian
7:02 input dash straight with l+m and it'll OS if you have meter
I actually never thought about stun in that way. I've always kinda thought stuns aren't a big deal since they usually happen toward the end of a combo and you'll basically do no damage. Literally never considered just taking the oki and retaining that threat.
Anything that has timing involved and juggle always makes things more complex. Meaties as well. Thankfully not too many characters have to deal with this burden. I think?
1:51 I'd say for mindgame purposes. If your opponent is expecting a longer combo route, you might catch them off-guard by ending it earlier.
Maybe if the recovery was faster it could be a reset, but if its that slow they can see you ending it
Aw yeah I love Quantum Combo Theory
Yo yo yo! How's it going Brian and youtube!? Have a good day as always and try your best!

Shout outs to that gigachad in chat who said ‘taunt’, made my day XD

Counter crouching hp? Tap into light dash straight.

I thought you were gonna show that clip of you optimizing the crush counter on a backdash to account for an airborne opponent, the one where the commentators were mistaken about the route
You either approach fighting games scientifically like Brian F does...
