@Fishman465 , I am really enjoying today's Daigo. He's more relaxed in his approach and appears to be more open to piloting different characters. It was a joy to watch him in SF4, though.
I think the modern games honestly are too simple/easy for him to stand out. He is clearly still one of the best even though he isnt winning like back then. Now there are more players, and there is nothing executionally difficult in SF 5/6 so its hard to consistently win or stand out.
Daigo still is the best Street Fighter players. To me, SF games like SF5 and SF6 are way too simple and has no ladder to climb to become complex. For example in SF4, even if you string a long freaking combo like Evil Ryu, the damage gets halted. In SF5 and SF6, you can literally beat your opponent with 1 string of combos. There were so many perfects compare to past SF games like 3rd Strike, Alpha 3, and SFIV. Alpha 3, 3rd Strike and SFIV were all easy to learn and becomes very complex once you go pro. True that there will never be another Daigo. Heck, not just Daigo but never another Hayao, Sako, Nuki, Bas, Tokido, RX, Sho, Suguimi, Kuni and so much more. My favorite Daigo moment is when he was found randomly sleeping on a bench in a park
That was so Ryu it was unbelievable
He's my favorite SF player of all time, followed by Poongko who mastered Seth in SF4 like no other.
You missed the umehara ga kimeta moment from his guilty gear days.
100% agree. Daigo is my favorite of all time. Currently Punk is great and he might be my second favorite.
1:04 Can someone explain the 4 rounds to win in this tournament? What was the format here?
Gamestop is weird
First international tournament in 2009
Daigo's Guile was always so hype to watch.
Daigo is more known then game he plays. He is THE LEGEND
He might not win most events anymore, but everyone pays attention when Daigo plays
Japan had sf4 a year before it came to the American arcades so they had the head start on a lot of tech
Oh i was hoping this would be an EmpLemon-style documentary
There will never be another youtuber like jmcrofts
I’ve been looking for that clip against Sabin for years
I think Daigo was one of the reasons wake-up DP was nerf because he was so good at it that it was dub the Umeshoryu.
The world seems more peaceful and right, somehow, when Daigo is maining Ryu.
The psychic uppercuts are for mental damage, and it totally works.
You could cancel the DP with Focus Attack Dash Cancel (FADC) in SFIV when the DP was blocked.
The risk of punisment was much lower than in other SF-versions.
His rematch against Infiltration was insane! After he took that initial loss he came back and made Infiltration look like a joke. Daigo is definitely my goat.
Surprised you didn't mention Daigo vs Afrolegends, EVO 2006, HSF2
I think that's his wildest comeback ever
I admit I've never seen anybody link combos the way Daigo does.
Four wins to take the match on the first clip? Wild.
That confirm in the first clip is MENTAL holy shit.
Go1 moments would be awesome if you could find his old melty clips, so many games you could cover across his career too
always up for Daigo glaze
Infiltration would make a great video for this series. Guys got so many clutch moments over the years
Even Daigo's origins are almost mythical.
I'd like to add that he used MP super against SIM. That would not have worked with LP super or HP super, as they are different speeds. This is something he knew and practiced when no one else knew about it. And I'd like to add that I have not seen anyone do that in any tournament other than him.
yo jm crofts, it would be cool if you could let the commentary play for the particularly hype moments. it really adds to some of the clips imo, like the diago heavy punch into super whiff punish on dhalsim
I was about to name my son Daigo, but my wife wouldn't let me. Legend
I focus on how long is the combo more than no. of hits
You can see Momochi ate a 10-second combo from 73s to 63s, combo over 10 seconds and without animation is exaggerated and valuable to watch
The final one also disclosed that JM haven't started his prep on a lifetime bounty😉
The beer sonic boom is a moment I'll remember, but I don't know if it would fit in a video like this
You don’t need a 13 minute video to prove Daigos glory.
Make this a series 🙌🙌🙌
