  • We often lie to get what we want, or avoid hurting others; but the truth is, the lies, once found out, can cause us to lose the things we really want. All lies start with lying to ourselves. This is a habit that keeps us in the cycle of lying, loneliness, and losing. In this Talk, we discover how to break the habit of lying to ourselves, be more authentic, build deep relationships, and ultimately win in life. Jeff Tatarchuk is a serial entrepreneur and founder of 6 companies; 5 of which have been sold or acquired. As the founder of Fruition Lab, Jeff enjoys being a connector and using his gift of ideation in helping other entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life and help investors find a way to align their capital with high growth investment opportunities. He is a sought after consultant, speaker, and the chief marketing officer and co-founder of VMAccel, a FPGA-based high performance cloud computing company. I’ve been lying to my girlfriend for a year. I recently faced the storm but the lying didn’t stop. I’ve been stripped of my lies at this point, either caught or came clean. But I still do not trust myself enough and I need help. I have become a pathological liar and it is not who I want to be. This video helped me realize that I have been lying to myself. I will change.

      I've said that to myself many times. It's takes alot effort and selflessness. Until we get of our selflessness, it will never end.

      Had my webb of lies collapse last night. I knew it was coming, and I've done it before, and yet I still spun the Web. But I know I can change, and I will change. We got this, I don't know you, nor am I a religious man, but we can change we just have to give it everything we got.

      @@Bunzlol hey man. It’s been over a month since I watched this video. I can confidently say the lying stopped. I still catch myself making up nonsense to be more interesting but I promise you, it gets better. It just comes down to what kind of man you want to be. For me, I strive to be professional, honorable and I make every effort to avoid cowardice. We can only be loved for what we do, never for what we say. Hope this helps man, good luck to you.

    I've had a habit of lying to self preserve and I think like you said, there is power in telling the truth. I think it was Frankl who had the model of stimulus, space, then response. And he said there is power in the space between the stimulus and our response. And I think to get out of that habit, perhaps initially by just taking time to think about consequences of lying by omission or just lying in general, instead of thinking about surviving in a fight or flight, we must fight against our instinct to lie and face any storm like the buffalo. Thank you for the talk, really helped me admit a few things to myself

    Why do some one simply ly for no reason not expecting any benefit?

    • @scottyrosencrance2889
      @scottyrosencrance2889 2 года назад +4

      Idk I think if there is a lie, there is a reason. For me it is usually that just like as a young child, I do all I can to not cause a person to have to change their emotions because of me. It was beaten into our heads that other people have enough to deal with and there is no room for putting another persons emotions at risk just because we want to speak our truth. There are many reasons for lying and there always is one I think.

    Annoying that the audio keeps skipping in this. A lot of people experiencing this? Kind of turned me away from watching the video.

      Everyone lies. Maybe you simply are unaware of the lies you tell. Something as simple as an excuse can be a lie. White lies to protect another’s feelings. Any time you don’t accept the ugliness of reality as it stands, you lie to yourself. And with the beginning of one lie, no matter how small, it can spur into many other lies till it pollutes your soul. Yes, those who actively attempt to live lies in life are probably bad people, but its also all too easy to fall victim to the lies you tell yourself.

    Question is why would she be going through your phone? Red flag #1

    • @jefftatarchuk
      @jefftatarchuk 2 года назад +2

      It usually would be. Especially if it was obsessive. But we both had trauma from our exes. I found out my ex was cheating by going through her phone and she found out her ex was cheating the same way. We both had issues with it. So when she had a hunch something was off... it was her first instinct. It was definitely something we had to work through and learn how to not treat each other based on what happened in the past with our exes.

    Let's see, an adulterer gets caught and shame helped him realize what he was doing was wrong. Then he enrolls the audience to identify with his deception using guilt so he can do a Ted Talk. Bro, did you learn anything?
