I was a teenager when S&G did thr original and the song is iconic but I thought it needed more intensity. David nailed it. I think I cried the first 60 times I listened to it.
Loved your reactions. I was a teenager when this first came out and I thought it had to be stronger. My son introduced this version to me and I can't stop listening to it.
I was going to quit for the night when this video caught my eye. I saw in the thumbnail that it was the "live on Conan" version, so I had to watch. The official video for this is good, but this live performance is SO much better! (Sorry, David Draiman and Disturbed.) Thanks for this reaction.
The fact that he pulled this off while sick , though! He had a cold and a fever (if I remember correctly) and nearly didn't perform. In the end he decided to do it sitting, to save energy I assume, and it turned into one of the best live performances ever. I grew up with the original and was very skeptical of any cover. I heard a few and didn't care for any of them. THIS one because my favorite on the first listen, though (apologies to Simon & Garfunkel). Apparently even Paul Simon thought this was the best cover he'd ever heard and actually promoted it on his own social media, which says something, IMO. Just crazy good.
Hi, i stopped by when i saw you were doing Disturbeds Sound Of Silence, I'm addicted to hearing all reactions to this. I'm not a metal fan but i love hearing David singing gentler songs, Hold on to Memories and Reason to Fight and of course this one. My favourite group are Home Free, have you heard of them?
The best vocal performance of all time..l and I love all genres.. but this is the SHIT!!!! What a gift David Draiman is to those of us that can listen.. xo
I also grew up with Simon and Garfunkles version and loved it. This however.... this is like beeing hit in the chest by a ton of brick. I cant even imagine how talented you have to be to do this live. Just amazing.
Oh you mean stage setters and prop monkeys thats what we call stage carpenters and set designers i used to do community theater in my 20s im a old bat now lol and I was a prop monkey did stage design and we would have been the ones making the set look like that the same folks who set up plays are the same ones that set up stages for concerts
I, absolutely, can't stand the studio version of this. For me, it sounded too gimmicky and forced. I happened upon another reaction to this version and was blown away. I've never heard him live. The emotion he poured into this is mind-boggling. It has become one of my favorite songs ever. (Studio one still sucks.)
Jesus Christ, so annoying to have this guy interrupt every part you start to enjoy. If only this guy could do his commentary after the song, it would be great.
I'm definitely old school, like Simon and Garfunkel old school, but this redo changed my mind on covers of old school songs, they NAILED it
I was skeptical myself the first time I heard it because, I mean, it's Disturbed, but they NAILED it
Can you imagine David Draiman was sick with the flu during this performance!!! Still this was perfection!! ❤🤘
He got a 5 minute long standing ovation after that performance.. its best version ever❤❤
I grew up with S&G’s version. But boy oh boy Disturbed’s rendition gives me chills every time I hear it.

The best live performance ever. I love this more every time I hear it.

David was a classically trained musician. Also trained to be a cantor. Amazing song and singer. ❤
he was trained as a cantor
Whomever produced this with the orchestra, lighting, and the entire feel should get an award. This has to be a once in a lifetime achievement.
I saw Disturbed perform this song at one of their shows and it was amazing and just like the album!
I love love love David and the way he perform this song. ❤❤❤❤ Sorry and the team....
I love your reaction! I have watched this hundreds of times. Same reaction every time. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️
This live version is my favorite cover version of this song.

People comment on the piano and strings, but come on! That Tympanic accompaniment is awesome!
I also love this version so much.
Your volume is so low. I wish I could've heard it loud and clear. DISTURBED IS FANTASTIC.
That's the word I've been trying to think of... Delicate... That's perfect. Thanks!
such a good song 👏👏

Can't wait until you listen to "Nightwish"....

Listen to metal singer Dan Vasc!!!
Ack! Audio levels, the video level should be higher so your comments don't blow my left ear out!
dUD YOUR VOLUME IS way to low can't hear a word your saying
I realized that in post, Im trying to work on it to fix it.
i think his low tone made the song bolder
Sorry Nick... can't hear you or the song at all... and we don't have headphones...
He had the flu during this performance as well
try to do an old song by George Jones, the one i loved back then it is a very heartfelt song. edit not like this though.
Life altering…
Sorry Nick but you ruined the performance for me. You talked over it all the wait through. Bummer.
AGREE...spoiled it...

I'll try and keep that in mind, but inspiration strikes when it wants. sorry
@@StringWh1zignore wadeknox84. As a reactor start and stop when you feel like true fans understand, especially because of RUclips copyright strikes
way too much stopping the song
Great reaction bro !
