Bucks didn't blame all their half-court issues on Jrue. But it's still glaring that your lead G was 39% from the field and 30% from three, on higher volume. Injuries and some slightly iffy coaching derailed Milwaukee last two seasons. And, I agree, ideally Jrue would be a starting 2-guard.
And the great aspect of the trade for Milwaukee is that now there's not as much pressure for Dame to control the ball as much, having to be both primary scorer and distributor. He can pick his spots, take super-efficient shots off of Gianni's gravity and feed both Giannis and Lopez (as well as Middleton on outlets) down low for easy looks. There will be growing pains and chemistry to build the first half of the season, for sure, but it's a very natural fit. The most dominant transition and paint presence coupled with the second-best shooting/scoring PG of the last decade.
I think the Bucks bringing in Terry Stotts was a very quiet but great move for them too. Familiarity with Lillard and he'll help Griffin develop a potent offense. Biggest question for them will be health.

    • @heartbreak25
      @heartbreak25 Год назад +9

Jrue's problem is that he can coast in the regular season. In the playoffs, he had to play super hard on D so he didn't have the stamina to also deliver on O. Bud was stupid for not playing Jrue at the 2, Jevon at the 1 to share the load. He also should've let Giannis guard Butler. And that's why Bud got fired.

Dame and cp3 are the best pick and roll guards (actually Curry is, he just doesn't do it as much because he's too busy wearing down defenses trying to chase him off ball)in the league. Dame assists will go up scoring down. Bill didn't mention closing either. Dame can close Jrue couldn't, neither could Giannis. Middleton is a closer but always hurt. When going through the top 10 guards averaging 22+ PPG, outside of Iverson’s finals run, Dame’s roster was by FAR the worst out of all those guys.
Jordan, Kobe, West, Wade, Harden Russ all had at worst top 30 players all time with them (I’m not to pretend I know anything about Gervin).
Dame had Aldridge early in his career, and I love CJ, but he and Dame were redundant and henever sniffed an all star appearance. And outside of those two, who’s his third best player? Nurk? Covington? Wes (before he tore his Achilles)?

Dame is motivated and single-handedly, took that Portland team to the western conference finals by himself.
He's had talented guys before, but this is basically the modern-day equivalent of pairing Kareem with Oscar.
The only thing that stops this team from winning a championship is health (which is legitimately a concern) or coaching.
I just don't see any other scenarios where these two guy, who play perfectly off of each other, and are hungry and dedicated to a ring somehow slip.
This isn't Kyrie going to the Celtics or Kyrie going to the Nets. Or Harden going to the Nets, or Harden going to the Sixers. (Guys who care more about their image and ego then rings having either won one already or caring more about night clubs and making it rain).
These are guys who care solely for championships, and are loyal to a fault. My two favorite players of all-time. And they're now joining up. If the situation had been flipped and Giannis were traded to Portland I'd be rooting for him. But it's not... and it wasn't.

Assuming he stays healthy, i think Bill is harping waaaay too much about Dame's defense. He's going to a team with Giannis, Lopez, and Middleton - the Bucks can afford to give up some defense for what Dame could bring to an offense that was basically playing 4 on 5 in the playoffs when they had Holiday.
Having a pullup threat that has to be guarded from 35 feet out unlocks so much more space for Giannis. Also having a true elite shot creator takes so much pressure off of Middleton, who is a really good shot creator but was pretty overtaxed as the team's #1 shot creator - we'll probably see a similar efficiancy boost from him to what Giannis will get with a bigger percentage of his shots coming from wide open catch and shoots.
The thing to worry about with Dame is if we do see him affected by the aging and injury curves, because if he doesnt end up boosting the Bucks offense like he has the potential to and more than offset what they lost defensively with Holiday leaving, then this team is in trouble.

Both Lopez and Middleton will have their lives facilitated with Dame’s presence.
How the Buck will defend Tatum, Luka and others?
The question is how will most teams defend Dame, Middleton, Giannis and Lopez at the same time?

I think this could go down as the biggest trade ever if it plays out the way I expect it to, with a Suns/Bucks Finals that will forever go down as the "Trade Finals." Meanwhile, judging by a lot of people's reactions to Scoot, they actually might have just picked up the ideal guy in Ayton that complements his game in every possible way. This could be a deal that swings rings to three different teams. I can't remember a three team trade EVER where it's like "there's no losers. Everyone wins with this!" The Suns got the depth they needed, Portland got trade assets and the ideal young PF/C to build their future hall of famer up, and the Bucks got the shooting they needed. Lillard was always a second banana masquerading as a franchise guy in Portland, and now he's paired with the absolute perfect big man for his game, and no longer is THE MAN.

Bill just admitted that Bob Cousy is on his list of the top 35 players of all time. Not shocking because he's a Boston homer, but it is ridiculous. What's also ridiculous is Bills take on Dame because he's missing the big picture; Dame doesn't have to be the best player on the Bucks for them to win. They're a contender because of Giannis. He doesn't have to carry an offense. He doesn't have to dominate every night. All he has to do is what he's done his entire career -- MAKE SHOTS. He can make shots off the dribble. He can make shots off the catch. He can make shots coming off DHO's. He can score 30 as the primary focus of the other teams defense and he is no longer going to be that because he has Giannis. And the Bucks have Middleton as a third option who has proven he can be a 2nd option on a championship team.
And White and Brogdon can't torture anyone with their offense; but that's Boston Bill for you.

He doesn't want to be 4th scoring option, hustle defense & rebound guy. He wants shots. He already played the sacrifice role when CP came to Phoenix and it has been obvious he wants more shots and doesn't really enjoy setting screens for Booker who he knows won't pass. Ayton's size and speed combo should have allowed him to compete against Jokic but instead he completely quit effort wise in the playoffs.
