  • We've had the TYM 494 tractor on the farm for a little over a month now, and I am over 20 hours on the meter. Let's see what I was able to get done on the pasture conversion, and how else it's been helping.

you need a boxblade my friend. i have same machine with a woods boxblade if it is branded KIOTI it is the same boxblade if you catch a better deal.if you move a lot of logs i got a FRANSGARD 950 log grapple it looks like a frostbite but made with HARDOX 420 and better quality all around. about $2300 its made in Denmark. 3-$500 more but you will smile everytime you use it. buy once cry once. you made a fine choice in tractor quiet and smooth mech. fuel inj. no turbo or xtra computers or sensors.

HEY I WAS LOOKING TO BUY THE SAME MACHINE FOR OUR HOMESTEAD!!! How well would the loader dig/scrape the top 4” of dirt for road construction? Need to start in the beginning- with a driveway!

I just subscribed because I'm hoping to see more TYM videos and comments with reviews. I have total respect for you because you're not a paid sponsor of any equipment and you a real world genuine person. Thank you for your time and work filming. I'll be watching 👍

Congratulations on the new TYM, I've dropped by a few times when you still had the 'Bota. Evolving biz sometimes involves larger equipment, the Kukje engine is a great engine. I have 410h on my T474 (Same eng, as your T494). Still haven't had a regen request since new, I run the engine above 1800 - 2400 (PTO Speed). So it does passive regen while working.

Do any of the 474-494-574 models have the self leveling front loader? Some 494 pictures show a self leveling arm..

I was looking forward to a tractor update! I’m glad it’s working out well for you so far. I would definitely like a grapple, but with a 40+ year old tractor with a pin on bucket and 2 lever loader valve, it’s not happening. I use some cheap clamp on pallet forks as a “poor man’s grapple” and that makes a huge difference over just the bucket. Enjoy that fancy new machine!

Are your tires filled? What are you using for ballast while carrying those logs?

I don’t think that tractor is ideal for what you need. It’s too big and comfy. Lucky for you, I have a 2020 BX I’m willingly to swap you for that cumbersome TYM tractor. LMK…

    Oooh nice shiny tractor.
We just bought a 161 acre farm up here in Alberta, Canada. We have a New Holland Boomer tractor. Love it BUT will def have to upgrade to a bigger beast soon enough.
    Good luck
