When you are tired, your imagination runs wild, and your normal abilities and confidence are reduced.
Your judgement becomes not impaired but less active... perhaps passive
You’re not alone! I’ve gotten myself in over my head riding trails on my motorcycle. In addition to the mental and emotional aspects, there was also the physical aspect, am I skilled or strong enough to get through, or even to get back? I made it, but like you I decided not to tempt fate and try that ride again, ever. Trust your gut, and if your gut says no, there’s your answer.
Being honest in what you experience, gives us insight, into what could be useful for you to know and apply in your life.
When we are sleep deprived, even our ear muscles relax slightly, making things around us sound far away
It will get better do not give up keep going out and push your self a little each time you got this 😊
Still alone. Still brave. Still philosophical. Still amazing. Still admirable.
- You’re still our unique Monique. ❤️
You can feel the stress! Thanks for sharing and we all have those days :)
You're a true inspiration. Thanks for putting it all out there.
Thanks for sharing. Your are so honest! Many Regards from Berlin in Germany, Ralf
Great video!!!
Be strong face your fears, you are strong and a winner greeting from South Africa and thanks for sharing
Looks like you found somewhere great. Thanks for sharing
Love this kind of videos👍🏻
When your muscles are lacking in protein, you will experience muscular pains.
Too much sugar and caffine can put you in a position to experience muscular cramps.
Eating cabbage, and onions can reduce cramps.
If you can sleep even 10 minutes, to give your kidneys an opportunity to catch up, you will feel much refreshed.
If you can sleep one hour, it feels like a different day.
Four hours sleep in 24, is not enough to fully recover, but any sleep, at any time, is an improvement.
To be highly efficient, you need about 6hours of sleep ever 24, or your efficiency as well as your health will slowly go south
Gorgeous view
All you share, is appreciated, because it gives insight into how your perception is, of what you experience.
I hope we as public, can improve your experience, through feedback, on what you share with us, because your life, matters to us.
Majestic views , and you have to go back. Don't give in to negative energy, you've come a long way and there is still more for you to conquer even within. Experience and learn but don't let it define you, just live it and let it strengthen you. Courage is Grace under pressure. Good to see you upload. ❤🌟✌
View is not bad. I've seen better... kinda bumbed.. It's "done once and check the list then let it go" kinda place for me.
@OverlandLady you are spoiled 😮 that was a gorgeous place 😢 I need to cross 2 country's and 1to 2 days on Highway to find place it like that😭
Sometimes baby steps in overcoming a fear and restoring your self confidence will be the way. Ultimately, only you can do this, this viewer has faith in you as I’m sure many do as well. Keep up the good deeds my friend, journey on …. One thing, I have a mount on my dash just for those narrow path journeys, we all know they happen 😂 just a thought shared …
Maybe time to go with a group vs alone to remove the stress of what could go wrong alone
Prehaps it's time to try tagging along a group again.. Haven't in so long.
@@OverlandLadythat’s why I don’t go out alone. I’ve had a few trips that scared me half to death. So, I decided to join our local hero club. That at least gives me the option of going with others if I so choose. I know exactly how you feel. You are an amazing woman though. Don’t give up. Find a group, build your confidence and keep pushing on. ❤❤
Your doing great, my other half is like you offroad when we are together off road so your doing great.
What is concerning, is driving, while sleep deprived.
What is happening, is your body is raising your level of fear, because sugar takes a toll on the body, reducing your functional time of high concentration required while driving.
Your perception is reduced, due to the slowing speed, at which your mind processes what your eyes see....the best way to explain this, is like a movie camera with a slowed down shutter speed .....like the frames, your brain is actually processing, are getting further and further apart.
What actually happens, is you are covering ground, faster than your brain is processing the information....putting you at risk, because your body can only respond, to what you are aware that you see.
In truth, your body is shutting down,..going into sleep mode, while you are awake.
The best counter, if needed to be awake, just a little longer, is to be sure to take enough clean water, as well as sea salt, which contains most mineral your body requires.
What you also need to do, is train your body, to fall asleep within ten seconds, when you do sleep....that way you maximise the amount and quality of sleep you get..
Factors that help you sleep quickly, is exercise moments before bed, because good oxygen and circulation enhance the quality of good sleep.
The body needs to reach a stable uniform temperature, in order for you to sleep.
The eyes need a dark environment to sleep in, for you to have good vision at wake up.
Too much sugar and caffine will disturb your sleep pattern, because your kidneys will be working overtime, to rid your body of those toxins.
Wow thanks for all your comments. Many points were lightbulb moments - sort of start to understand why I felt so subpar on this trip. Everything went wrong from the very beginning - sleep deprived. Thank you for the scientific analysis of what this does to one's body.
Great! I do roads like that all the time, they have turned in to dry creek boulder beds and have small trees going in the middle, they are very stressful and scary, but seem worth it, road less traveled type of thing for me, I still haven’t got to the end of one that goes to a rock quarry, but need a winch to be safe. What’s nice about mine 2dr jeep I can turn around on most of the narrowest roads, love your videos, love to adventure with you, you’re a special person…..
Awesome video and good luck hug
Thank you for sharing your experiences and maybe use a motor vehicle or bike to drive around the trails and sorry for your Mom and you for getting older is rough but you seem to handle it well and follow your heart and be safe 💕
Life is not just all effort, but body and mind also need time to repair and refresh...there are day and night, for critical reasons.
Eyes exposed to too much sharp light, will either lose focus over time, or the body goes into a state of shock, causing epileptic fits.
Cute brave n adventurous 👌
Now that's the video I wanna see 👍👍🌹
I hope that you had that great nights sleep!
Wasn't bad.. slept till very late in the morning at least..
Carry a long handle shovel, as most situations are made safe, by moving some loose material
Time to conquer Death Valley - I bet you would enjoy Saline Valley Natural Hot Springs
Hi Monique. Love the series. What wheels n tyres you running there ?
SSW offroad wheels - Stryker. Tires are falken wildpeaks
Yeah they look good. I think I might try the Bradley takumi tho they do one with a zero offset
LoL “ Grave Digger” North Carolina monster truck guy. Used to pass that guys shop on the way to Outter Banks a few years ago when my Dad lived there. Also, couldn’t you just attach air tags to all your stuff so it would be easier to find ? Great job , keep up the awesome content.
As you are more tired, your completion appears more pale, and you would see it for yourself in a mirror, because the oxygen reaching your skin is less than usual, your brain slows down, and your limbs can become slow and heavy.
While travelling, stopping, to wash hands and face, at least every two hours, does improve matters.
When driving, eat less, because a heavy meal has no movement to be required, and makes you drowsy because it takes energy to digest.
Trail food while driving far, can include boiled eggs, roasted peanuts, dried meat, fresh fruit....but always with sufficient water.
Milkshake is good to have, if driving in heavy traffic, because it protects against vehicles gasses.
In all cases, always good to pull over to eat, and refuel, doing visual inspection of the vehicle, each time you do...walk right round it, checking for leaks, loose items, and wrong ride pressure and wear pattern.
Also checking that everything external is properly closed and secure.
In time, you will carry more tools, as your knowledge increases, and your repair skills escalate.
Your best experience of travel, ..is always when you are sufficiently rested, and well prepared for what you find on road.
The best travel times, are early morning, but in full daylight, while air and all drivers are alert.
Plan your trips to miss peak rush hours in congested areas, and avoid late afternoon travel, as well as night travel ....when accident frequency is higher.
How long have you been a tradie for?

You got this Mon ;-) ....thanks for that great journey and reminder of how we push and pull ourselves and the ways we take and how they add to who we are. x
So good for a good nights sleep Monique lol😃 smr relaxing 17:40 a quiet drive in the bush to get a good nights sleep. I am imagining you looking back laughing your rrss off nite nite
When in doubt of an obstacle off road, park the vehicle, and have a look on foot first.
What you see in person, is worth far more, than guessing from behind the long good of a vehicle. Damage is avoided or confidence gained...in some cases a different line chosen, or a stone or log adjusted.
Damage, is not easily reversed.
Always consider, where you go, you .het be able to return, stop, turn around, ..or all three
She did walk it and used the drone. She's so experienced.
No caffeine, never happen!
Sounds like you need to try one of those mushroom coffees that are out, or mud water they are supposed to give you energy like coffee but no crash and filled full of nutrients and vitamins.
I've tried those many years ago when 4sigmatic just came out. Don't really feel much difference. I also wasn't drinking a ton of caffeine at the time.
"comme d'habitude, tu n'as pas froid aux yeux", hang on your eyelashes 😉. You are so courageous of overcoming your fears...thank you for the breathtaking photos of the mountains...
P. S. 1
Please, would you be kind enough to come back to us in one piece? 😜
P.S. 2
I got a 5.7 hemi 4x4, it is thirsty going on forest roads... how is your beast doing, I did not see any gas station going up 🤔
Whose ongoing mission is to boldly go where you have not gone before...
I wish I had been there to help you. 😔
I can comforatably say i'd rather soogy sockz than a soogy Sao .... 😉
It's good to push your boundaries, it facilitates growth. But feeling unsafe overtired and already stressed before you even got started, yeah not the best idea. Intrusive thoughts might have made it seem much worse than it actually was, I know mine do.
Where was that again
Never travel, where you can not see.
Holes, wash outs, animal dens, sharp stones and missing rocks on slopes, ..all can change your vehicle for ever.
Water, if you cannot walk it, do not drive it.

best not to be hooked on coffee. Took me over the month to get over the headaches after stopping cold turkey. You don't know how it is living on a "boost" until you quit. It's really weird how my life changed.
Happy to say I can go without coffee now. But man that quitting time was a couple of torturing week.
Stay safe plz
I try...
Better to be hooked on Aussie coffee than that North American shit they give you. You can always tell when someone has spent time in Australia. They love our coffee and they manage to say FUCK twice in one sentence. Well done Monique! Perhaps you should carry a chainsaw and cut it all the bush back a bit. Time consuming but practical. There is a video series going to air now about a trip along the Canning Stock Route, the longest track in the workd. It was a little overgrown, especially for the Isuzu truck. Chainsaws did the trick
You can do this stuff. Don’t worry if you don’t get it all on film. Focus on yourself. Just be safe. I don’t have to worry about elevation because as you know, behind me is the Darling range, a whopping 380 metres in height. One day I will see snow up close. As for coffee, I like it but I don’t like it enough to spend ages preparing a cup of it. Fuck wasting time. I can go without easily although I do have a huge stockpile.
Safe travels.
OZ coffee just hits different. Can't explain it!!
This trail needs way more than just a couple chainsaw chop. The whole way needs a groom. the chopped branches also have no where to go..
👍👍
👍❤️😊
So sad that you feel that you'll never go back there again. It is for that very reason that you should go back again, and often. Beat that demon into the dust. Oh ya, did you get any sleep? You sure are a beautiful young lady. I love your channel. 👏👏😍😍🌹🌹💖💖👍👍
I slept till pretty late in the morning so that was a good thing.
@@OverlandLadyThat's great. All charged up again and ready to face the next challenge. What will it be? 👍👍💖💖👏👏👌👌😁😁
@@MetismanInBC Perhaps not a solo trip... hmmmm
@@OverlandLadyWell I'd be happy to go with you, to assist when things go awry, or you have an anxiety attack, but unfortunately I no longer have a 4x4. 😁😁👌👌👍👍💖💖😍😍
Hello
Yeah, you made it! You are much more badass than you think you are.😎😎😎❤❤❤
I didn't have much of a choice once on that trail 😂
drama enjoy the journey
1/10 she says will showing 11/10 😮. I don't go places like them.
You know a jar full of fear keeps you safe and alive but a bucket full stops you doing thing you know you can do and have done many times before letting yourself slowly be pulled down in to that bucket you may never come back dig deep and hard to find some of your old self a go getter can’t is just a word you can and you know it fight to be the person you’ve all ways been we who watch you know overland lady is in there but only you can find her YOU CAN if you really want her back love from a man who said I can’t then I f--king can and I did
Thank you!! Took me a few reads to figure out the punctuation but this means a lot!
...
TBH i think you've lost your passion for offroading, do you think you should focus more on car content vs exploration/offroading?
You've got some point. Exactly one of the questions I've been pondering on. To be fair, I was never super into "recreational wheeling". I just like to go to beautiful places for some peace and quiet.
@@OverlandLady no cap open chat got and type in ur hobbies and ask it to think of video ideas for ya no cap ai is the future 🚫🧢
🧢🧢🙅🙅♂️🙅♀️
It all seems too stressful to be fun.
Hi been following you for some time,I have enjoyed your videos ,,, but this one is a bit over the top with the drama,,just saying
Exactly. Even myself wondered why I reacted so poorly. Perhaps PTSD is just overreaction after all.
Imagine trying to drive this trail and you run into this person. If you have so much anxiety now that you can’t go down a 3 rated trail don’t go up there and ruin everyone else’s holiday. If you were a dude people would just laugh at you. I’m gonna be called an asshole or harsh but you’re essentially being a “touron” doing these trails alone with severe incompetence.
Are you doing this stuff because you want to, or are you doing it because you DON'T want to?
It seems like you're spending your time doing things to test yourself instead of doing things because they're enjoyable.
Maybe you need to cut yourself some slack and spend some time doing some "easy" stuff?
Go visit a forest, an abandoned mine, a waterfall or some caves etc?
Everybody says that it's all about the journey rather than the destination but if the destination isn't worthwhile, that's going to have a negative effect on your perception of the journey.
If you actually WANT to visit somewhere, you're going to feel good about overcoming obstacles to get there.
If the destination isn't important, you're going to be asking yourself why you're going to the effort of making the journey.
I thought the destination is worthwhile- that’s also what my coworker said (the one who was just up there 2 weeks prior). But I didn’t know what the trail conditions was. Guess “worthwhile” is subjective. I thought it would be enjoyable but turned out otherwise
@@OverlandLady Fair enough.
Maybe that's still part of the problem, though?
If you'd made that trip and found a little slice of paradise, would you still feel so negative about the journey?
Conversely, did negative feelings about the journey sour your perspective of the destination?
It seems like you need to allow yourself some easy wins.
Make a couple of zero-effort trips; visit some historic sites (for the content) and spend a weekend by a lake or in a forest.
If that satisfies your desire for peacefulness, it's a win.
If you find you're still restless, it's probably because you're looking for something more challenging.
Just remember, the people watching your channel don't NEED to see you making a trip to Alaska or rock-crawling up a mountain.
We'll happily watch video's about you servicing your LC (does he have a name yet?) or buying stuff at Walmart for a camping trip.
We're here to listen to your perspective on life, whatever that involves. 🙂
@@SiCrewe Thank you! I needed this! To be honest after the accident I am not clear what I want to do anymore. The only itch i have is to be out, to get out, to be able to drive the trails and do what I used to be able to do again. Hence trying different things. You're right, I need to slowly find the type of journey I enjoy. I kinda rushed it and threw myself into the water and see if I drown...
Is being overly dramatic your new shtick?
I love this channel but blacking out you eating a banana ? I mean if you don’t want the pervs to see that in some sexual way (which is fine) but than stop with some over bending over shots….come on woman…this is disappointing. I still wish you the best….
You've got an overly developed masculine side to your personality because you never had a Father present so you're always going to over compensate and prove (To the Father you never had) that you're stronger than any one else. Its actually painful to see you constantly making mistakes that ultimately could cost you your life Monique!!
!!!! Bit of a lightbulb moment. I needed that. Thank you.
@@OverlandLady Im genuinely glad you took it the right way Monique🙏 I've been watching you and your journey for a number of years now and felt after watching you wreak the old cruiser I had to say something. Be Safe!!!
Omg! Loved this video. Lots of butt shots! Beautiful!
