The smallest city in England by both area and population is the City and County of the City of London

You are correct but the city of London is part of greater london and i saw Wells being more of a stand out small city. I have corrected the title.

@@eyespydrone4627 Well thanks for acknowledging that I am correct but I must point out that you are incorrect in your response. The City of London is not, nor ever has been a part of Greater London. It was excluded from the County of London in the Local Government Act, 1888 and was excluded from the newer County of Greater London in the Greater London Act, 1963. It is, and has been since time immemorial, a county in its own right. It is not represented on the London Assembly ... because it is not part of Greater London. It was never part of the shire county of Middlesex, which is how the Middlesex Guildhall comes to be in Westminster, which was the core of the original shire county before 1st April 1889. You may also note that there are two Commissioners of Police in the area covered by Greater London and the City of London. The Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis and Receiver whose headquarters are at New Scotland Yard, and the Commissioner of Police for the City of London Police, the latter of whose force use a red and white rather than a blue and white check on the bans around their hats and their vehicles.
So, the City of London has always been THE stand-out city and continues to be entirely under the jurisdiction of the Lord Mayor, the Corporation and the Common Council and has its own Sheriffs and other law officers. It is probably best to understand how these things all work and what counties and cities are before correcting others.
I have never read the charters relating to the city status of Wells, but my guess is that there will even be mention of London in there somewhere, because when a charter was issued it clearly stated the rights and privileges to be exercised by the burgesses and corporation of the city - these may have been taxation or customs privileges, for example, but the most important thing is that in many cases, such as Lincoln and Bristol for example, it states something along the lines of "as granted to the City of London".
Even had it been a part of the county of Greater London, then it would still have remained a city, and would still be smaller than Wells in scale and population. The only time that this would have differed is when the population of the city was so much larger than it is in the modern day.

Whilst I second that, I'd like to add some constructive criticism.
Beautifully sunlit footage of the cathedral close and the majestic edifice itself, but I wonder why you didn't show what it's renowned for, namely all the Saints across the frontage. Were you not allowed to fly that close, perhaps and if so, is there not a more powerful lens available?
Obviously you don't get to see the famous cross braces in the nave, but I'm also surprised that you didn't show even a little of the lovely city's Georgian splendours, just to the south of Cathedral Green.

Thank you for taking the time out to comment. I was slighlty limited on time and also don't like getting to close or to be of a nuisance so tend to fly a little higher.

No St. Cuthbert? Arguably the finest church in Somerset?

Looks great in the evening sunlight. I thought Ripon was smaller and possibly the City of London too; but that was fifteen years ago and Wells has probably experienced a population explosion if you know what I mean hee hee

No, Wells is not he smallest city in England, it's the second smallest. The City of London is the smallest, both by size and population. Maybe a bit more research?
