On the flip side, Chris Jericho could make just as much money for AEW with HIS retirement tour, by letting AEW fans pay extra for Jericho's promise not to show up.

Shame what a parody of himself douchebag Jericho became in the past few years. He was one of my favourite wrestlers as a kid growing up in the early 2000s and he was such a great wrestler in the ring and on promos. But the guy is just in a constant state of midlife crisis now and he's really made himself look like shit because of it but his ego won't let him do something like John is doing so we just get a 53 year old Chris Jericho stinking up the joint now.

I'll never forget when John said "I was around when it wasn't so cool to be a WWE superstar" to the Rock on the go-home Raw episode before WM28. A lot of people have pointed out that he was alluding to the Benoit family tragedy. He was one of the main reasons WWE were able to successfully navigate through the media firestorm caused by the double-murder suicide.
I mean seriously, where would WWE be without Cena? He was the company flagbearer for 15 years (longer than Hogan, Austin and The Rock btw). I attribute the launch of the WWE Network to all the new fans and crossover eyeballs he brought to the product. His career is littered with stellar promos and matches with Edge, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Umaga (even carried Khali to his only decent match lol). It's amazing to me how his greatest in-ring performances took place in front of the most hostile of crowds (see WrestleMania 22, One Night Stand 2006, MITB 2011 etc). Some 22 years later, he's still amongst the top merch sellers within the company! Insane! He truly was wrestling's last megastar. Thank you for everything, John.

I was there live for it. It was more of a shock to us since the upper tron's feed covered up the Peacock/Live feed and we couldn't see the towel he pulled out, so we got the bad news from the man himself. The shirts weren't really on sale until after the announcement and it was only for a few hours at the venue. The Rec Room I think was the one who spoiled it.
As for the retirement, I knew it was going to happen one way or another, because of his Hollywood commitments and age.
I was there for several big Cena moments at Scotiabank:
    >Beating Edge at Unforgiven for the WWE title
    >Almost getting a broken neck from Nakamura
    >A promo where he acknowledged Super Cena as a thing
    >This retirement announcement
I do agree he is one of the best babyfaces of modern times and his later years where he got meta made him more entertaining. I won't forgive him for groveling to China over Taiwan.

The problem is I don't see it happening. I mean rumor is Cody VS Rock at 41 for the title with The Rock going over and if that happens I don't see The Rock losing it to Cena because he will hold it till 42 when he fights Roman. By that point Cena is gone. I don't think the record counts if he beats whoever is holding the other championship

Nahh I can't see him turning heel at this point for the last run because the fans ain't gonna boo him at this point because he's reached that level of legend status where the fans now show him respect and love when he comes back. If they were gonna do they should have done it in 2011-2012 like he wanted to before or after the nexus angle but apparently Vince and the others weren't keen on that

Sure it'll be nice if he goes up against Orton or Punk, but that's almost more for them and us than any box he needs to check. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say I always loved the guy, there was a period where I was on the "Cena Nuff" train for sure. As any true great, he won me back over and seeing him was like an old friend wanting to shoot a few hoops. The bad part of announcing something like this is WTF HAPPENS IF HE GETS INJURED? He already said 2025 is the end of the road so I highly doubt he pushes it back especially considering how much more susceptible you are to injury the older you get. If you want to see Cena I'd say book a trip to Indy for the Rumble that way you're pretty much guaranteed to see him. Look what just happened to Punk, he made his big return at the Rumble this year and got injured so he's been on the sidelines the entire time and I can see Cena doing the exact same thing. Also I thought Corny was going to say Trish doesn't talk for 15 minutes straight but she does move her mouth that long while doing other things. Hawk Tuah to you too.
