Bret is the absolute GOAT of pro wrestling. If you wanted to see great holds, great selling, and execution in the ring, Bret is the guy to watch, even after all these years that have passed us by. If a prefessional wrestling match is a film, you want Bret Hart as the producer, the protagonist, or the antagonist. He knew how to play the game from all sides whether he was a baby face, or a heel going up against small guys, big guys, or giants. It didn't matter, he could do it all. When working with Bret, if a guy wanted to do high spots, kicks, chops, holds, simple moves, or complex moves, Bret could sell it, and execute it. If the match broke down for any reason, and guys didn't know where to go next, Bret could improvise, communicate, and get them out of the rut. Also, the pacing of Bret's matches was phenomenal, and he always made sure that everything he did served a purpose. Vince dropped the ball with Bret in 1997, and WCW dropped the ball with Bret immediately after they acquired him. The end of Bret's career was total fubar. I think that was one of the many reasons WCW didn't make it long after Bret arrived. WCW had such a quantity of high caliber wrestling talent, and legends all over the place, but after Starcade 1997 they couldn't create a great angle to save their lives, or get guys over without throwing an NWO shirt on them, or making them have an undefeated streak like Goldberg where he is literally spearing guys one after the other. Throwing the NWO logo on everybody was like putting a band aid over a gaping wound. It was a temporary solution that was overused to the point that over half the company joined some faction of the NWO at some point during those last few years in WCW. Even Sting ended up in the NWO Wolfpack which ruined the entire angle of Sting being the loyal face of WCW, and a legitimate threat to the NWO. All Vince had to do was take Bret's contract talks a little bit more seriously, and Bret never would have left the WWF, the Montreal debacle wouldn't have taken place, and Bret would have probably wrestled 10 more years.

Nah, he does complain a lot. It's pretty much a fact. However, nobody is perfect, so it's not something that should be held against him. Bret may very well be the one wrestler I respect more then any other for a couple of reasons. For one thing, he's a really good dude who never had many of the flaws that most other guys do, such as drug, alcohol, ego, and unreliability issues. He's also not only one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, but he takes wrestling super seriously and is a very honest man. I remember as a kid, me and my brother used to sit front row at all the NWA tapings and I used to sit there and call the shots before they would even happen. It’s so easy to see what they were gonna do.
The process Bret is describing is how good bands rehearse songs. You always run them from the top if you are a live band, because that's how you play them live, you need to be able to run them from start to finish without messing them up.
@@greatgiginthesky9287I guess to show others that Bret Hart also connected with the black crowd and not just a European crowd where he was popular or your average wrestling enthusiast. 😁

You could also argue that HBK and Taker would be ahead of him too. I think Brett not being a top 5 all time is a result of horrendous booking, mismanagement, and injury (none of which are his fault).
Certain wrestlers like Cena who are very charismatic don't need to be great in the ring to get over. I'd say that Cena was a solid worker during his heyday. Not the best worker but he usually sold moves well etc.
That’s a complicated set up. I used to think they had a general idea of how the match was going to go, they new the finish and just called it as they went in the ring.
I mean it’s not just that, the stroke for one affected him a whole bunch. The only reason why he can tell stories as good as he can because he had diaries and such. Family and friend deaths, personal problems, lawsuits etc. I get what you’re saying but this seems like such a backhanded compliment

Does Bret hart knows that his name is one of the toughest name for a male? IMO. when you mention his name, the first thing comes out on my mind is him with shades, with heavy metal guitar sound, and him walking like a king
Bret Hart would know far more than me about wrestling ability. That said, I was one of the many, many people who stopped watching when Cena was pushed on every show, always, forever. For me, it wasn't even that I hated him, but I was sick and tired of every single plot winding up trying to make him look good. But, in fairness, between 2007 and 2012ish (and probably later) the WWE was some of the worst content on television.
I haven't watched near as much wrestling within the last 20 years as I used to watch in the 80s and 90s but one of the best matches I had seen in a long time was about 5 years ago between Cesaro and John Cena when John Cena was the US heavyweight champ. That was a Wrestlemania main event caliber match. I knew John Cena had his haters that said he couldn't wrestle, but you don't see a match that good without two guys that can go and who are determined to put on a great match. I have to give Cesaro his props as well but that match told me the Cena haters who say he couldn't wrestle were full of shit.
The question asked was about working with CM Punk. Not John Cena, all within the context of J. Lawlers' Heart attack early that same night. Brett never even answered the question asked, or the editor didn't do their job to standard. Makes this more then a little disingenuous
I don’t know why but Bret has an air of sadness around him. Sometimes, i feel like (and I say this with the utmost respect) he regrets some decisions he’s made in his life or something
Yea i also got that vibe. But then you think about what he went through: I would guess a tough childhood in a wrestling school family Things like the Montreal screw job His wcw stint going wrong, including the injury Not to mention the early deaths of his brother and two brothers in law Dude’s been through the mill
Dude has been through some really really tough times and there's nothing that he would could have done otherwise. It was his fate and he accepted it, he is a tough guy himself and I am glad he is doing well
Bret Hart still remains one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, its sad how his career ended because a clueless idiot like Goldberg who seemed incapable of having a wrestling match with someone without seriously hurting them for real, in other words he was unprofessional and wreckless. It's a damn shame really because at the end of the day, people will remember Bret Hart and his legacy Goldberg not so much, in fact when it comes to legitimate contributions to wrestling industry, Goldberg is a forgettable name in my opinion.
Oh it was a great honor for me to be the canadian superhero again and get my ass kissed. If Bret had a 10th of Cena's or even Punk's charisma...he would be likable
You wont find superstars like this in the WWE today. Theres alot of talent outside the WWE who have some creative control in the brands they work in. Some of my favourites, Will Osprey, Kenny Omega, MJF
i forget who said it, but someone nailed it, wwe trains people to be a character, because that is what gets over and sells merch. But they arent teaching guys who to be wrestlers first. So the ring work is pretty shoddy for a lot of them. I was watching clips the other day, there are definitely people getting it done, but there is a lot of bad ring work. I dont expect it to look like when I was in HS watching the attitude era, or even the early 2000s, every era is different, the popular styles and such change...but so much of the modern product looks over produced.

Love this interview about Brett hart complimenting John cena and his wrestling ability. Could he see John cena though?
"We're not going to do it until we get it right, we're going to do it until we can't get it wrong."
This story is funny considering that Cena is the most notorious loud spot caller in the history of wresting. I think Bret likes Cena for adopting his Five Moves of Doom match template.
I don't see how that's inconsistent with what Bret is saying. It's not Cena's fault that his teammates screw up despite all the prep.
Excellence of execution the Hitman #1 😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a black man in his 40s & Bret the Hitman Hart has always been my favorite wrestler he's the GOAT!
Why do you feel the need to say "I'm a black man" ???
@greatgiginthesky9287 Hahaha it's so random he could have just Mike Gundy'd it and be like "I'm a man! I'm 40!" 😂😂😂
@@greatgiginthesky9287I guess to show others that Bret Hart also connected with the black crowd and not just a European crowd where he was popular or your average wrestling enthusiast. 😁
Where can I find the full length interviews?
Good question. Anyone know?
Glad to see him healthy and with his wits. This guy is a living treasure that snowflake fans do not appreciate.
Agreed, you see one guy praising Hart and you get 10 other morons going on about Hogan or some other irrelevant star.
What have snowflakes got to do with Bret hart
@@samcooper2474Hogan irrelevant? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
pour moi bret hart c'est le meilleur lutteur de tous les temps selon moi et mon préféré.
I wonder how long the process takes to plan a match, do they go in the ring and practice it?
It makes sense that John Cena is like that, if you watch him in the ring it's very rare for botches to happen.
If people do forget he's there to yell what to do so we all know. lol
Anyone know where I can watch this full interview?
It’s just good to see the Goat 🐐 Bret the “Hitman” Hart
Top 10 of all time? Yes. Greatest of all time? Zero shot.
@@coolbreeze756 fair enough, who would you say is the greatest of all time then?
@@jonbourgoin182 I gotta hear this.
@@jonbourgoin182 there’s generally 5 or 6 guys most people would put on their Rushmore before him: Stone Cold, Flair, Cena, Hogan, and/or Rock. You could also argue that HBK and Taker would be ahead of him too. I think Brett not being a top 5 all time is a result of horrendous booking, mismanagement, and injury (none of which are his fault).
He has looked 60 for 20 years 😅
Certain wrestlers like Cena who are very charismatic don't need to be great in the ring to get over. I'd say that Cena was a solid worker during his heyday. Not the best worker but he usually sold moves well etc.
That’s a complicated set up. I used to think they had a general idea of how the match was going to go, they new the finish and just called it as they went in the ring.
His wrestling ability is taht of Bret’s pinky … his selling and talking are that of Mozart
He is obviously not as good as bret hart, but saying cena is a bad wrestler is something only marks who think they are the sh*t say.
When bret spokes the wrestling world listens
It’s sad that the Montreal incident really effected him and it shows. Glad to see he’s not talking about it for a change.
I mean it’s not just that, the stroke for one affected him a whole bunch. The only reason why he can tell stories as good as he can because he had diaries and such. Family and friend deaths, personal problems, lawsuits etc. I get what you’re saying but this seems like such a backhanded compliment
@@hoodclassic_nl5382 you right I forgot he did had a stroke
@@hoodclassic_nl5382 but to be fair it’s people that had said worse things about it.
@@monroed6449To be fair, he talks about it because people ask him about it. Unfortunately, he was part of one of the biggest moments in wrestling history, good or bad. It’s such a part of his legacy, that’s one of the first questions people want to ask him.

Kinda sums up Punks time on top that Bret was asked about Punk and he just talked about Cena😂
Because he's the most overrated pro wrestler in history . Punk i mean .
He’s praised cm punk many times dummy 🤡🤡🤡

Bret the “I was always one of those kind of guys” Hart!
Wild to hear Cena getting some praise from a guy like Bret Hart
Brett sees himself in Cena.
When you think about it Cena was the modern version of Brett
Bret was awesome back in day.
The more old Bret gets, the more he turns into stu. Love Bret.
When a Hart recognizes your wrestling ability thats an honor
I love Bret Hart, but I couldn’t work with him, even if I was fit enough to actually work a match. I’d never be able to remember everything that’s supposed to happen, unless it was a squash match or something.
Took 4 mins to get to his point skip to the 4 min part if you wanna hear him talk about John😊
Bret hart looks like eeyore nowadays. cant blame him, bro's been through hell more than once
bret hart's appraisal method: look, talk, technical ( 1-10) Cena = 10, 10, 5 = 25 big score.
This is wrestling psychology
I don't think it's necessary to make those pseudo-sensational clickbait video titles that don't even convey what is actually happening in the video.
I bet John would love to hear this :)
Cena best in ring technician smarks will cry
It's nice hearing something from Bret that isn't complaining.
As you can see from the comments section, more people complain about Bret regardless of what he's saying in the interviews.
@matttiberius1900 what the hell are you talking when as Bret ever complained, and about what. If bret is asked a question about Montreal or modern wrestling or whatever it is he answer's it plain simple 🤷 it's not "COMPLAINING".
@@dngn4774Bingo!
@@SamoaDynasty-1988 he been complaining about Hogan, Bischoff, Triple H, and especially Goldberg for decades.
@@fmthebaron AGAIN!!!!!!! If he's asked a question about them he has the right answer the way he want's. How is that complaining 😒 and besides it's not like he's lying about what he say's about them.
It's funny how clueless Fans that never had a Match talked bad about John Cena all this Year's and the Wrestlers who done that for Year's and Year's and Year's said John Cena was great.😂
He's good from the business perspective. I'm not the business. I'm a fan, and more specifically of the matches than the promos. He sucks. He looks clumsy running the ropes. He doesn't perform moves realistically, so he's very bad at suspending disbelief.
The fact that Goldberg cut bret hart Career Short makes me sick
4 minutes just to say he admires cena because he plans matches like he does?
the title of the video barely matched what he actually said.
I never really liked Cena, but if Bret gives him a thumbs up, then Cena is ok now to me... 👍
Should've posted this yesterday on Bret's birthday
brett looks like a really big leslie neilson these days
Does Bret hart knows that his name is one of the toughest name for a male? IMO. when you mention his name, the first thing comes out on my mind is him with shades, with heavy metal guitar sound, and him walking like a king
When I see Bret Hart and CM Punk, only one song pops up - It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero 😢
Love you Bret!
"what was it like being in the ring with CM Punk?"
"John Cena was awesome"
Story of Punk's career lol
The interview was conducted over glasses of beer🍺???
Has Bret ever worked backstage for the WWE? You would think having someone who was as great as Bret would be good to have around.
The question asked was about working with CM Punk. Not John Cena, all within the context of J. Lawlers' Heart attack early that same night. Brett never even answered the question asked, or the editor didn't do their job to standard. Makes this more then a little disingenuous
Cena won't truly be appreciated until much later. He belongs up there with Hogan and Austin.
Interviewer: Can you drop sht on such and such? Bret: words Internet: BH always winging... Na he is just honest.
HBK, BHH, KA and CB.

The Exelence of Execution
The AEWFanHub wishes Bret wouldn't renew that laughable WWE legends deal and work for AEW in some capacity!
I don’t know why but Bret has an air of sadness around him. Sometimes, i feel like (and I say this with the utmost respect) he regrets some decisions he’s made in his life or something
Yea i also got that vibe. But then you think about what he went through:
I would guess a tough childhood in a wrestling school family
Things like the Montreal screw job
His wcw stint going wrong, including the injury
Not to mention the early deaths of his brother and two brothers in law
Dude’s been through the mill
Dude has been through some really really tough times and there's nothing that he would could have done otherwise. It was his fate and he accepted it, he is a tough guy himself and I am glad he is doing well
Well said Bret, that's exactly why I'll always be a Hitman fan. Well, that and I'm also a proud Canadian 👍👍
5/10 1 one for each move
For me - Bret Hart, Mr Perfect, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit.
A 50% death rate there, unfortunately.
Surprised he didn't start banging on about Goldberg and blaming him for everything.
Damn
John Cena got a lot better over the years.
I dont expect it to look like when I was in HS watching the attitude era, or even the early 2000s, every era is different, the popular styles and such change...but so much of the modern product looks over produced.
jjohn ceena 5 moves of doom lol
