WOW - A) most MTA tow jobs are done on OT, B) That guy worked too quickly - must have been a probie, C) because the tow jobs are done on OT, the guys ALWAYS take the time to take every safety step not only in the hook-up but prepping for traveling down the road - chains, light bar, tying up the air/electrical lines, pulling the rear axles and above all, they NEVER wear shorts & SNEAKERS on a job. Just that cracked 4X4 would have stopped the job until another piece was brought to the site. D) they drive slow! Yup, they sure do - that's 35 tons behind them. They don't want any surprises jumping out in front of them a.k.a bicyclists, pedestrians, etc., etc. Many people say these "SAFE" guys "milk the job" because their on OT, BUT you'll never see any of them get hurt or an UNSECURE/ RUNAWAY bus. Their slow, methodical and above all - SAFE!!

I might sometimes handle rough wood with bare hands at home if it's not worth the time to find gloves, but this guy had gloves and was handling large boards.Lack of work boots and reflective vest are good points. I'd also add that he should wear long pants.
No safety chains, no tie downs, no towing lights, and severe lack of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety vest, steel toe boots, reflective clothing, etc.). Either this guy threw all of his training out of the window or he wasn't trained properly or given the right tools at all. Also, I find it difficult to believe that the driveshaft on this bus was pulled before he drove away in it.

Orion buses sounded like crap & I remember riding number 1800 on the n23 bus to Manorhaven. And when I paid the fare & the Metrocard said "read error" because the machine wasn't working right. And worse of all, buses break down & left the customers stranded in the middle of bus stops, then a bus driver takes it out on everybody & gets mad for no reason whatsoever. They need to be fired & Ed Mangano impeached as the county executive too.

+Afra Riley Yeah, especially when buses break down & look at the people who done poorly on maintenance those former MTA Long Island Buses & here's the real problem is that we already lost a lot of former bus drivers & the people who done a lot of work of buses are out & maybe retired. Since the hostile takeover began, MTA Bus who got the drivers who was from the College Point Depot did cover the bus routes while a major overhaul was underway, the whole system was in shambles & the takeover was so bad & new drivers doesn't seem to follow the former MTA Long Island Bus routes & here's the dumbest part is that the drivers are asking & telling the customers about "what should I go or where to turn" so these are the newest drivers who badly trained & doesn't know what direction they're going. And mostly the bus drivers are giving the customers the sarcastic & the meanest attitude that every bus rider really hate & I rode with the buses for more than 30 years. More problems on it's way.

Also, many Class 8 trucks are now fitted with very large CNG tanks behind the cab to power the vehicle and none I have noticed have any hazmat placard on them. Also, since this bus is displaying hazmat placards, the driver is required to have the hazmat endorsement on their license.
