    That's on Hillside Avenue & 169th Street where the n22 & n24 buses stop. I know that place so well. And either one of them going to Hicksville got broken down while making it's passenger pickup. That one sucks for NICE.

      sup B Same thing. NICE just operates in certain burrows. Mainly Long Island, which actually isn't considered a burrow, but rather just a suburbs outside the city. They are mta buses, they just use a different name an logo/color scheme to differentiate the service from the normal buses within the city limits.

    Last bus I dropped like that had a neutral interlock between the drive shaft and tranny. So no disconnecting the knuckle.... Sad to see if that guy lost part of his foot is something fell off or broke! Must be safety Nike’s! Good to see him hook up the air override!! Don’t see that often. Now just need manufactures to have a light override for the lights on the rear ends!

    No safety chains, no tie downs, no towing lights, and severe lack of Personal Protective Equipment (Safety vest, steel toe boots, reflective clothing, etc.). Either this guy threw all of his training out of the window or he wasn't trained properly or given the right tools at all. Also, I find it difficult to believe that the driveshaft on this bus was pulled before he drove away in it.

    WOW - A) most MTA tow jobs are done on OT,
    B) That guy worked too quickly - must have been a probie,
    C) because the tow jobs are done on OT, the guys ALWAYS take the time to take every safety step not only in the hook-up but prepping for traveling down the road - chains, light bar, tying up the air/electrical lines, pulling the rear axles and above all, they NEVER wear shorts & SNEAKERS on a job. Just that cracked 4X4 would have stopped the job until another piece was brought to the site.
    D) they drive slow! Yup, they sure do - that's 35 tons behind them. They don't want any surprises jumping out in front of them a.k.a bicyclists, pedestrians, etc., etc.
    Many people say these "SAFE" guys "milk the job" because their on OT, BUT you'll never see any of them get hurt or an UNSECURE/ RUNAWAY bus. Their slow, methodical and above all - SAFE!!

    • @billyboi57
      @billyboi57 6 лет назад

      That doesn't wash. If a vehicle is using a petroleum product to power the vehicle, no hazmat placard is required. As a truck drive in my 19th year and having a hazmat and tanker endorsement on my license, I have never heard of such. Also, many Class 8 trucks are now fitted with very large CNG tanks behind the cab to power the vehicle and none I have noticed have any hazmat placard on them. Also, since this bus is displaying hazmat placards, the driver is required to have the hazmat endorsement on their license. Your statement would also preclude any diesel fuel truck from being placarded just for carrying their fuel.

    Worst bus service ever in years! NICE really sucks when these "painted over buses" on the 1826 & these people are towing this piece of garbage & Ed Mangano runs the crap company. Broken down 24-7-365 days a year. Hot & cold, rain & snow. Where everything goes wrong, those NICE buses won't last that long. Orion buses sounded like crap & I remember riding number 1800 on the n23 bus to Manorhaven. Thanks Ed, you really did a number on those former MTA buses & now you named yourself "nice" & the drivers that I rode "aren't so nice at all!" Maintenance crews are short & the company didn't get enough funding since the hostile takeover. Nassau County is fuming mad already & I was talking to some riders & quote: "Ed Mangano, executive of Nassau County gots to go!"

      @reinnegroni8462 8 лет назад

      Marcella C I do remember what was going on with "n.i.c.e." (nassau inter-county express) & the company itself & they hire so many drivers & they do not know the area & location so well. And when I paid the fare & the Metrocard said "read error" because the machine wasn't working right. And worse of all, buses break down & left the customers stranded in the middle of bus stops, then a bus driver takes it out on everybody & gets mad for no reason whatsoever. They need to be fired & Ed Mangano impeached as the county executive too.

    • @afrariley6640

    • @reinnegroni8462
      @reinnegroni8462 7 лет назад

      +Afra Riley Yeah, especially when buses break down & look at the people who done poorly on maintenance those former MTA Long Island Buses & here's the real problem is that we already lost a lot of former bus drivers & the people who done a lot of work of buses are out & maybe retired. Since the hostile takeover began, MTA Bus who got the drivers who was from the College Point Depot did cover the bus routes while a major overhaul was underway, the whole system was in shambles & the takeover was so bad & new drivers doesn't seem to follow the former MTA Long Island Bus routes & here's the dumbest part is that the drivers are asking & telling the customers about "what should I go or where to turn" so these are the newest drivers who badly trained & doesn't know what direction they're going. And mostly the bus drivers are giving the customers the sarcastic & the meanest attitude that every bus rider really hate & I rode with the buses for more than 30 years. More problems on it's way.

    I'm very disapointed 'cause he is not barefoot, shirtless and using only a speedo. It seams it will be the next step in "HIGH STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONALISM TOWING BUSES"

    I've towed a million vehicles, although never a bus. I did 99% of them in shorts, and many in sandals, but I always had my safety vest on... I can't understand why anyone would work in traffic without one.... [EDIT: no safety chains? must be nice. DOT here would eat your firstborn if they caught you doing that.... and what about pulling the drive-shaft? are transmissions that cheap?]
