I did this same trip in 2015 and the train now looks renovated. We had seats in an open-plan coach and the people in front of us were so serious and with such hostile faces that we preferred to spend most of the trip in the restaurant. I chose the scallop with fries and my girlfriend the fried eggs with ham and pancakes for dessert. All delicious and admiring the beautiful landscapes. It is a very nice trip. Thanks for the video.
(10:07) Bohemian cuisine is world-famous for its tasty dishes, pastries and desserts. It influenced both cuisines, the Austrian (Viennese) cuisine with flour and desserts (such as: Palatschinken), and the East Bavarian (Upper Palatinate, Lower Bavaria) with meat dishes and dumplings. I suggest every time you catch a train with diner car run by CD you should visite and taste a meat dish with dumplings (I recommend Bohemian dumplings boiled in a napkin above steam) and as dessert filled Palatschinken. And, of course, a czechian beer; I prefer original Budwiser (not to confuse with cleaning water from USA named Budwiser Lager.) - Cheers, Heinz
Great video! Nice to see my home base carrier in your video :-) EC Berliner is one of my favorite trains and also one of the trains I travel most often. But I've never tried 2nd class :-D Btw. I hope you enjoyed your stay in my hometown, greetings from Prague :-)
(3:30) The compartment cars look to me like renewed old German express cars (D-Zug). 6 seats instead of the previous 8 in 4th grade (benches). (When the Deutsche Bundesbahn introduced two classes, the old 3rd became the current 2nd and the old 2nd became the current 1. The 4th and 1st were dropped. - Cheers, Heinz
@@NonstopEurotrip - In the old German express train compartments the 6 seats were extendable and 2 each formed a "bed". Please check next time. - Greetings, Heinz
I remember that was one of the slowest trains I ever took in 2009 in central Europe, between Dresden and Czechia. Maybe faster now. Prague main station was being renovated when I went and I had to go to a station called Holesovic in the suburbs where I bought Czech sausage that gave me severe stomach problems for a week 😒 and the shop wouldn't sell me a bottle of Czech beer.
Very nice video on the Berliner service Berlin HBF beautiful and the scenic views after dresden and into Czech Republic and also Prague looks good hopefully you have an exploration video on that too Those dunkin donuts eh ? 😏🤤😂 What are they like
Good video . What I noticed at the beginning were the damaged arm rests . This gives me the impression that not all is well with maintenance , confirmed by the air conditioning problem . Also was there no toilet roll dispenser in the toilet ? Felt the fares were too low to guarantee a good level of repair . Having said that , if I were a young traveller on a limited budget I would be happy with the value for money .
Yeah, they might have been showing their age a bit (apparently these were the first of the lot to be refurbished) but still very comfortable for the journey I made, and yeah, a good price! ps. there was a toilet roll holder but the main one had run out and they usually place a spare roll on top.
I think, you can see the best schengen zone freedom at EuroCity Metropolitan. From Budapest via Bratislava to Prague. 3 countries and no passport control. Maybe try that one. (now the police checks if you have your mask on)
Sweet home! Imho € 19 is good to be honest, I think that's the cheapest fare available in this relation. Sadly the car you've reserved was from the first wave of refurbishments that was faulty (it was in the news because of DB's complains years ago), other compartment cars (as spotted by the textile handrests) were newer. I personally prefer the open-plan car that the staff moved you to. 😅 Great report! What do you say about the Prague Station's exterior? I think it's a horrible presentation of the city... the new city mayor wants the park to be completely overhauled with a tram stop right next to the entrance.
those refurbished compartment cars are from öbb i guess. back then they had no power outlets and the audio controls seem to be renewed too but everything else (including the textile seats) looks equal.
What a delicious restaurant car CD is running on Eurocity trains between Prague and Berlin. After InnoTrans 2022 I want to do a day trip from Berlin to Hamburg and return just to dine on good food with an ever changing view. I emailed CD and customer service responded tickets go on sale 90 days prior to departure but the website doesn't tell me if CD's EC trains will be running on 24/09/222. It's very confusing and I was hoping you could help. Thanks. sam Samuel Augustus Jennings
Don't know about Chiltern as I've not travelled on their loco hauled trains, but there's one thing you can't do on TPE's class 68 & Mk5 trains and that's look out of the rear coach.......and unless you're travelling in 1st class accommodation you can't hear the thrum of the class 68 I would much rather travel on a continental loco hauled train than TPE's version 🤔
Thank you, nonstop eurotrip !!! Oh no, a compartment !!! I hate this. Cry cry. Well, you still managed to travel in better conditions than that. Fortunately you were entitled to a "normal" space, that is to say open.
@@NonstopEurotrip, in full compartments you might have the funniest discussions - at least you had before corona. I really feel sorry, that compartments become more and more rare. I made a lot of friends there.

I will definitely try those. I love CD dining cars! 😍
I took the train this weekend and it was the best rail my life. We drank beer and ate delicious food the whole journey from Berlin to Prague.

But great Video, thanks for that.

Was the fish and chips you had at Berlin HBF from Nordsee? Does the tartare sauce still come in the edible wafer pots?
Yes! Pretty cheap too 🎏 😚

It terminated at Prague, it was probably heading to the sidings for cleaning ☺️
It took an alternate route via Jüterbog and Falkenberg because of construcion.
Can you store a large suit case in the overhead storage?
If it fits, yes you can
