As an American who doesn't have full-service passenger train service, I get so envious when i see videos like these. I loved travelling Europe by rail especially on Virgin Trains and TGV - they were so comfortable and relaxing to ride on. I can only wish that my country will one day have coast-to-coast high speed passenger rail - the only way to travel!

    • @NonstopEurotrip

I don't think that will ever happen until the maglev/hyperloop speeds are commonplace. Ah well you can always come here and ride European trains 😎👍🏻

As an American, I loved sleeping on overnight(s) passenger trains; the Amtrak trains on the Los Angeles-Seattle runs, the Empire Builder (Seattle-Chicago runs) and the Wash. D.C.-Orlando runs. Our services include menu choices for three meals, plus snacks, coffee, tea, all day!! The showers spaces were great, also! Many rooms also have their own full bathrooms. Room service is also available. I have never over-night'ed in Europe, but loved traveling around by train. Thank you.

Wonderful film. I am laying in my confortable, warm California condo bedroom with a huge flat screen tv. I have traveled by train in Europe many times and I love train travel. Due to COVID and health issues, my travel the last year has been nil. I think I could become an armchair traveler with films like yours…..and maybe that will be my fate. The sound and filming almost made me feel like I was on your train with you. Thank you so much! Sharon Allansmith

Oh, what a perfect night train. I love the dimly lit coaches which look very relaxing for a short trip. The natural wood armrests and wood accents exude warmth and cozy comfort. Most of the night trains I've viewed on RUclips lack decent food or beverage service. Some offer nothing to eat or drink, so it is refreshing to see a lovely bistro car in the consist. I am enjoying taking this journey with you so thanks for the ride.

Back in the 80’s I studied at the University of Luleå and often took the overnight train when I went home for Christmas. During that period they introduced a bar/cinema wagon last in the train. That was a very nice way to spend the evening before going to sleep, as the train left Luleå around 5pm.

They have amazing train services and special tickets for foreign travellers: JR Pass (JR = Japan Railroad) is a "all you can ride ticket" during 2 or 3 weeks, including shinkansen bullet train lines. JR Travel have offices in all main stations and help find and book hotels and tours.

I think train travel is slot easier on a person than plane travel. I like being able to get up and easily walk around, and having a restroom with a shower is awesome. Plus I sleep well on a train, though it takes getting used to the rocking back and forth motion. Kind of similar to being on a boat.
I'd certainly love to travel in Europe, especially northern Europe, into Sweden, Finland, Norway. Still, travel with the U.S. on a train is fun and scenic and worth doing. I recently made a train trip east to Colorado to visit my (recently deceased) mom's grave, from my home in the greater Seattle area. Even during winter, the train gets through. I loved seeing the western U.S. from my window on Amtrak.

I found sleeping to be very difficult, with the rocking of the train and the fact that I got a bit motion sick. Then again. We have ( in Australia) some good trips. Probably the best being "The Indian Pacific" Sydney NSW to Perth WA and the " The Ghan" Adelaide SA to Darwin NT. A few from Capital Cities to the outback and interstate, but I think these 2 are the longest.

This is not the Arctic Circle Train as that is the Stockholm to Narvik service that is subsidised by the Transport Administration. This service that you review is a commercially operated service by SJ due to an operational change implemented as part of the new interim operations agreement. When the new agreement with Vy was reached, the new operator announced that they would drop the previous two eight-car portions splitting/joining at Sundsvall Central continuing to Stockholm and Gothenburg respectively. The carriage bodywork is corrugated for enhanced operational reliability and quality in Arctic weather conditions.
I don't know if you know this, but Nordmaling is not served by the daytime SJ3000 services. They still use the line, just pass through the station at full line speed of 155mph
I can confirm from experience that making the full journey in a seated coach is not the optimum thing. Especially considering that my journey was at the time before the Bothnia Line (the new high-speed line) was built, and the older route was much longer and slower.
A bit of railway trivia connecting Umeå and Skövde: One of Sweden's major producers of pulp and paper has a pulp factory outside of Umeå and some other facility [unknown to me] in Skövde, so they use haulage services from Hector Rail to transport the products by rail between these two facilities. These trains are quite impressive, I have spotted this traon at least once. They are probably one of the longest single unit freight trains in Sweden, behind the LKAB's iron ore transports of course.

      @NonstopEurotrip  2 года назад

I never said it was the Arctic circle train, and the SJ3000 certainly does not do anything at 155mph....

I asked the train driver if I could visit the front/cockpit whatever it is when I saw him out of the train. I got a “Yes! You’re welcome!” I wasn’t expecting that, as I thought trains are the hardest for of public transport to visit the control rooms or cockpit or cab. It was smelling like old leather, oil and engine. It was a phenomenal experience! I got to visit 2 other cockpits/cabs 1 minute after this one. Also amazing experience!

I love trains. I'm in the US and have ridden Amtrak Forever...lol. As I'm old now it's good to know the euro trains have loading for wheelchairs and us mobility challenged. I didn't know the trains in Sweden are electric...yes? I love the click clack of rails and missed that in your video..although I bet the quiet would help with sleeping. The gentle sway is still there? Most of my over nite jaunts especially if they are going to involve over 10 hrs of travel, I get a roomette in the sleeper car. 2 single beds 2 seats and meals included. Tea, coffee, juice and bottled water are free with the sleeper car tickets. I love you don't add slot of other noise besides the general sounds of the trip. To many videos get overpowered with music, explanations, and thoughts. Good job on this and wonderful shots out the fresh air windows. I'm looking forward to more of your videos. Thank you for sharing and Happy Rambling!!

I have never thought of the night trains in Sweden as luxurious, so it was nice to see your comments which brought them in some new light for me. I used to ride these trains to high school when I was a kid. Living on the country side in Sweden I had about 40 km to high school, so every morning I used to catch the night train coming from northern Sweden going to Gothenburg. It was nice to buy a soda or a snack in the restaurant every once in a while. I enjoy these old fashioned trains a lot more than the modern commute trains that run the rest of the day.
