This is one of the great Swedish Hymns that was translated to English when the Swedish immigrants came to the USA in the late 1880's. It's song that is one of the foundations of the modern Christian Churches.
I do believe in God. But you are right you do not have to be religious to appreciate this song and how amazingly beautiful they sang this song. This was the first song that brought me to Home Free and their outstanding harmonies and talent that kept me listening. I really do like your reactions thanks for reacting to the Beautiful version.

I personally was brought up A Catholic here in Ireland. I know class myself as a Christian. Took me years to figure out my faith. I feel if you are kind to others. Try never to do wrong. Keep quiet if you feel you’re about too say something rude speak up when you have something nice to say. Always be there for people when they need you. Then you’re a decent human being. I believe in god. I believe my parents are in heaven. I have now got great faith but I’m not signed up to any particular religion. I felt your reaction was so sincere. I felt every word of that song, it really made me feel god is all around us. I just subscribed, thank you 😊
I think this is one of the best versions of this song. Tim Foust's bass really carries the song. I found Home Free 3 years ago & love these 5 talented guys. Their harmonies are the best in the business. This is one of the few songs where you get to hear Adam Rupp's (beatboxer) sweet tenor voice during "It Is Well". And the scenery is awesome filmed in the beautiful Austrian Alps (my dad came from that area).

This has been a favourite hymn since I was a child, in fact Adam’s brief solo of “It is Well with My Soul” is my favourite hymn, so having them sung together is epic for me! The powerful lyrics that really paint the awe and wonder of God’s creation and all that He’s done amongst the majesty of His creation! Add in fantastic harmonies, layering and dynamics and I don’t think it’s been sung better this side of Heaven. #HomeFree never disappoint!

The group was in Europe, when they came upon this setting. They contacted their people to come and record. I believe these are in the Swiss Alps. One has a hard time listening to music like this and not thinking there's something bigger than us.

For me this is the best version I've ever heard of this song. So beautifully sung in a wonderful scenery. All those different voices, but still one. Even Adam sings a bit! That is amazing. I come from a Christian family with several pastors. This song was often sung at our house. Especially my father sang it (in Dutch) with his great voice. I showed and heard this to my mother (86) a few years ago. She now regularly asks me to play it. She even once asked to be heard in church.

I am not religious either but there is something about gospel hymns and even traditional Christmas carols that hit right in the heart. I think it is the human core values and peace and love that I relate to. I am a nature lover and can’t wait for summertime when I can sit by the brook behind my house and just listen to and become one with the world around me. I was born and raised in rural Maine.

I hear what you’re saying about not being religious but still able to appreciate this. I am the same. I was raised Catholic (I now joke that I’m a recovering Catholic), and have heard this song hundreds of times. I firmly believe this is the most beautiful version I’ve ever heard. My one regret about discovering this is that my mother and mother-in-law (both devout) are not here to share this with, as both would have adored it. That scenery is breathtaking! It's in the Austrian Alps, near where the famous movie/musical "The Sound of Music" was filmed. Between the small chapel and the majestic natural panorama, it couldn't have been more perfect. 💞 The arrangement and beautiful harmonies were just the icing on the cake!
