I first watched Les in the early 90's in Ireland on daytime tv. Never heard of him, it just came on & I watched. I couldn't wait for next weeks show to be own. Just a brilliant man.
Thanks Les. When i watch an episode I can smell and taste the bush. I’m an urbanite, but I dream about the freedom of the bush. Your show and Malcom Douglas’s shows are a great alternative to all the hard work and expense that remote bush travel involves. Thanks Les and Gob Bless you
In 1979 an avid follower of the Leichhardt Expedition made it a quest and actually found the site where the Leichhardt party had camped and had been attacked. Subsequent searches found camp fire sites and in 1985 the site of Gilberts grave.
What strikes me is that it is one thing to drive to these areas, on dirt roads as I did myself, and Les does here with his great set-up of Lanny with trailer (is that a 10m band antenna on your front fender?)....but to try and traverse that landscape with no tracks, no roads, just making your way through bush, virgin territory as far as the Caucasian's were concerned...well that takes some doing.
Such good stuff. Love Les. Love this special & mysterious place I've been getting around for half a century. Thanks for sharing it.

I used to like this bloke but I guess he likes the camera more.
Wow....such a cynical and puerile comment.
