    Grew up watching this, joined Australian Army after school, partly due to Maj Hidden's. Was posted in Darwin for 4 years. Left Army and worked as Nurse Practitioner in many of the Cape York communities Les goes to in his show. The work he has done is second to none. Incredible!. Having first had experience being out in many of the places in WA, NT, QLD..... For all,of you non Australians, these areas are unforgiving.....

    While I know a lot of what Les shows, there is so much more he could teach me. If only I were a younger bloke and Les was still doing his bush trips and willing to take me along, I'd be in heaven. I've always loved the bush and have seen quite a bit of it with my dog and will go on loving it til the day I die which sadly isn't far away with my lung disease. That's life I guess.

    Beautiful shots from the air in that time with helicopter. Can imagine the cost of production having to use a helicopter. Now drones are doing the work. As We sit here in Northern Canada freezing our butts off and shovelling show all winter We are green with envy of the gorgeous weather year round in Australia. You are definitely the man to camp with. Thanks for posting, great series. This Canadian loves Australia.

    Would you trust this guy or Bear Grylls?

    • @Hiltok
      @Hiltok Год назад +1

      They are really doing different things. Grylls's programs (as far as I've seen) are about coping with misadventures in isolated places, with the aim of getting back to civilization after just a few days. There are plenty of others, too, who seem to operate on a short time-frame to 'survive' for a few days, maybe stretching out to a week. They seem to me to take more risks than they should with some foods that might cause you illness, with the safety blanket of being able to take antibiotics and/or worming tablets once back to the modern world. Of course, those higher risk things make for a more exciting program for a mass audience.
      Hiddens, and Ray Mears, are about being able to live in a remote environment and learned their vast knowledge from many tribal people who are still connected to and living in their homelands that look to us westerners like untouched wilderness.
