    Hawes is awesome and so is South Mountain. My two favorite trail systems in the Phx. area.

    You ride the kind of trails I like to ride. Thanks for showing Hawes. I have never ridden there but will put it on my bucket list.

    That looks like a great spot. I'm definitely hitting that in a few weeks. Thanks for showing us. Pure O looks intense, and that's even with the GoPro effect. 😊

      Pure O is intense, its narrow and that adds to the effect!

    You finally made it to my home turf! There is a whole new (actually older) world of Hawes over the hill in the older section. BTW, I usually ride CN downhill as part of an Alpe/Iron Goat/CN loop. I’m not ready for Pure O. There is plenty more uphill to be had on Alpe de Huez. Have fun!!

    Look at you blowing past most riders on the climb up. Good work! And finally, some flow without rocks. If you're still in the Phoenix Valley, ride Gold Canyon. It's so pretty there. A great visual experience with lots of twisty/turny trails.

    Dropper post on descents, it's the best thing ever. Even for some technical climbs to get the seat out of the way.
    My least favorite time up here in Colorado. So I catch up on mountlake videos. I appreciate your tutorial style. Might have to take a trip down there to maintain my fitness off season, I can only do so many boring spin classes😂

    Hawes is a big trail system. There's a fun flowy trail if you start up near the tower by the neighborhood and come down and hang a right keep going right at the forks. iirc it turns into really fun stuff with a lot of moment and eventually leads down to where the wild things run and back to Walgreens.

    Thanks. I live in Mesa. I am mainly a road cyclist. Have yet to purchase a gravel bike but want to. Are these trails too advanced for a novice gravel cyclist? Looks too bumpy for a gravel bike? Perhaps, I could purchase a drop bar MTB? Or, are these trails purely for an intermediate advanced MTB rider like yourself. I have never brave enough to be a good MTB cyclist, particularly on gnarly gravel descents in SoCal where I am from. That descent looked scary AF. I would prob. crash for sure.

    • @Sara.Jo.

    I think hawes is the best thing in AZ outside of Sedona. For years I thought it was just trails near the neighborhood when it was actually 2 or 3 times that size. I just never went back that far.

      @@Sara.Jo. I'm glad that you loved it! I'm up in Flagstaff and am planning to ride there sometime this winter. It has been almost two years since I rode there last. I usually ride at South Mountain as it is closer to where I typically stay when in the Phoenix area.

  • @mikestivers8302

    the Popular choice is Hawes.. but there's gnarlier trails with hardly any bikes just east of there, in the Goldfield mtns. more blacks than blues...
    PNP is good, SoMo is good, but both have tons of hikers.
    Hawes at least has escaped the hordes of bipedals but there are def more out there this past year than i've ever seen. that's kinda what makes it great. very little hiking/horsing.

    • @Sara.Jo.
      @Sara.Jo.  6 месяцев назад

      I actually really like goldfield too, and I love SOMO, I rode there often the past couple months. Hawes, is just a lot more flow…it’s still my favorite place around Phoenix..smoother trails with less chunky grit…just the desert is stunning as well

    I should clarify…the feeling at Browns ranch was much different than Hawes, Browns was filled with people walking the trails and close to a residential area.. Trails were good, but it just made Hawes feel like mtn biker heaven… no hikers, just bikes and nature. For me, biking isn’t only about the trails, it’s the entire vibe.

    • @rob-3540
      @rob-3540 5 месяцев назад

      Glad you clarified why you were so down on Brown’s, I was scratching my head given I’ve ridden lots of the trails in the PHX area. You are correct it does attract a lot of use due to location…. While i agree the trails aren’t very technical they are very well built and I suspect given the short amount of time you spend at most places, you would find there is a lot of nice trails and views once you get away from the busy trail heads. Enjoy your reviews and videos.

      Glad you’re having fun on our home turf. However about Browns Ranch, the problem with people not familiar with the riding area is you have to know where to ride. There are plenty of trails that can kick your Ass!
