    Great idea. I was thinking what a great way to use a panel too. Adds so much character to the background design. Thanks.

    I feel that I wouldn’t want to waste the cut outs from the pineapple, but use them to make an appliqué of the pineapple on a backing complimentary to the other quilt. So you have a pair of complementary themed quilts. Just a thought... Thanks for the instruction Rob, I love your videos.

      That is a great idea! Would make for a very cool reversible quilt if you used the batiks as the backing also. Matching quilts would be awesome too.

    Rob: Thanks for another terrific tutorial! I had purchased a kit from my local quilt shop to do this technique, but was hesitating to try. With your great instruction, I can’t wait to get started!!!! Thanks so much!

    Maybe someone has already said this in comments, but it would be awesome to save all of those cutouts from the pineapple, and put them down on another design to create a second quilt. The leftover paper from the fusible would be a great template for the layout of the cutouts. This pineapple design is a fantastic idea, well executed!
    Also, I have a suggestion or request for a future episode. I have heard you say that you used to repair sewing machines. A video or two on troubleshooting and basic repair would be fantastic!!

    Mahalo for the free pattern and the great instructions. I love all things Hawaiian and will be making this for sure. I’m thinking yellow batik for the fruit part and green batik for the leaves. Soooo excited.

    Hi Rob, just loved this idea....pineapple doesn’t feature much here on the west coast of Scotland....however, an outline of our beautiful Arran ( island in the Clyde seen from our house) would work really well! Oh and Batiks......what a fabulous palette! Thank you for all your hard work producing Man Sewing , xx

    Hey Rob, do you have a video out there about machine quilting a bed sized quilt? How do you roll or fold a big ol' quilt up so that you don't get all tangled up? And why do you use pins to baste instead of a spray baste product? Like Tom's hot sauce, I put that stuff on everything, it'll even hold down your appliqué until you get it ironed!

    Rob, I love this idea, especially the one with a solid piece of fabric on the back! I’d love to see more examples of different designs that could be used. My mind isn’t as creative as yours and I need a little more help to get my brain cooking with my own idea. LOL!
    One thing I wish I had seen more of is how you did the design on the background. Did you cut the pieces out of your freezer paper, iron them to the batik and cut each shape? Maybe I missed a previous video.

    • @ManSewingVids
      @ManSewingVids  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Mary! So glad to hear you like this project! I drew the design first then treated it just like any other fusible applique pattern, I reversed it for tracing onto the heat n bond featherlight, then added the heat n bond with the traced shapes to the fabric for cutting out each piece. Hope you have fun sewing!

I have looked for a tutorial wondering if it was one you taught but haven’t found it. Do you have a tut for it? It doesn’t look to be too complicated but I just love the colors and would like to make one similar. Thanks I’m advance. Keep up the great quilting projects!

    What a cool design. My state in Australia, which is Queensland, the pineapple is virtually an icon of the state, as they grow particularly well here. We even have a place which is in Nambour that features the big pineapple. So as for a reverse appliqué of a pineapple goes, I can relate all the way from the land down under. Can you please tell me by how much you enlarged the drawing. Thanks.
