Hi Adam, I've downloaded your profiles ( Thank you!) And tried importing them into cura, however both profiles 10 & 11 are bringing up error message saying they can't be used! Any help or suggestions you could throw my way? Thanks
I love mine but yes did notice that the test models printed great then my own models using ender 3 settings CRAP!!! i upped my filament extrusion by 15 percent and problem solved!! by the way great vid.....
I recently got this printer myself and I really did not notice the issues that you mentioning in your review. The loading of the filament didn't keep coming out nor the printer not stopping with you hit stop. I did notice that there is no profile in Cura, but according to Cura they have applied for their profile to be included, but Cura has not yet added it. I did ask them for a comprehensive set of default settings for the different filaments and they created one for me, that I would think by now should be online but I have one in PNG format, which I have used with PLA and PTEG and they work great. I have gotten excellent prints thus far. I have not run into really any of the problems you ran into, but it's possible they have fixed them, that Im not sure. I have enjoyed using this printer better then the Ender 3 v2.
Thank you for uploading your cura profiles! I'm really new to this and I'm wondering if there's any way to get my prints faster. With your profile, the benchy takes 2.5 hours and I've read that the average time in other printers is 1 hours. Can I change some parameters to speed it up or is this something related to the printer specifications?
Great review. Thanks for another great video. For the cooling fan, maybe it would help if it blows down from all 4 directions instead of just one? This would help keep the volume of air high while the velocity will be low. Also angle it away from the nozzle by another few degrees so it isn't cooling the metal nozzle at all. How about thermal runaway protection?
Glad you mentioned that! I'll have to check. Completely slipped my mind. For the fan, I have seen a modified duct on thingiverse. I may design one myself.
I have had a couple of problems and most recently a strange one. I sliced a model, and the printer wouldn't print it. Neither the bed nor the extruder would heat so it never started printing (of course). Heats just fine for loading/unloading filament. I tried slicing it again with a different card and a different computer, same thing. I stuck the card in my Ender 3 V2 and the bed and extruder heated up just fine. I also have had issues with the filament going down the wrong path in the extruder and folding over inside blocking the filament path. Have seen on FB others have had this issues as well.
Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I haven't had those issues. But I have had the printer not begin the print or heat up for some reason, but then I turn the power off and back on and it works fine. Not sure what is triggering that.
amazon currently has this for 40% off at $224.29 shipped with tax. Is this still a good deal for this printer for a beginner as of Nov 2022? Thank you!
@@RCwithAdam1 now it's 170 on Newegg lol. Getting one for birthday :) Sucks that Cura STILL doesn't have a profile for this printer. Which is weird because it's become pretty popular.
@@RCwithAdam1 the first time the nozzle did not heat up (0 degrees) they changed the machine, the second time they sent me a used machine (bumps, scratches, Russian language by default...), it was impossible to calibrate it, surely they had already returned that machine and they sent it back to me, the third machine restarts by itself and the SD reader fails a lot... a complete disaster!!!!!
Having recently bought the Odin V, I've gotta say it was a breeze using this 3d printer practically plug n play from hardware through to software, I bought the ender 3 and sent it back, it was faulty and had many issues ( axis motor wasn't working), although I'm not a newbie to 3d printing I'm new to FDM printing coming from resin printing and gotta say the Odin V was a a far more pleasant experience than the Ender 3. Great Video Adam Thanks.
There are better machines out there than the Ender 3 but the amount of support, YT videos on fixes and mods and tutorials on using slicers tips the scale for me. What I have found with my Ender 3 Pro is that if I print at 150% speed or lower with PLA , I have zero problems. Not having a printer profile on Cura is a huge hurdle for the average user which adds a level of complexity that I can live without. Other than those considerations the Odin 5 looks like a fine printer.
WARNING !!! I have discovered a very serious and potentially highly dangerous flaw with the Fokoos Odin5. When the ribbon connector that connects to the print head becomes worn over time it can lead to highly erratic temperature readings, for me this lead to thermal runaway with the hotend reaching over 300 degrees centigrade, smoke was pouring out of the print head and this could have lead to a real disaster if I hadn't been in the room when it happened. Please anyone who reads this help to get the word out there, this is a very serious issue and could possibly lead to tragedy. Thanks for your time and stay safe.
I'm so glad I found your video! I'm very new to 3D printing and I bought the Odin-5 F3. And what you said in the video is true... the models on the SD card print great but I can't seem to get the same results printing a model that I download. I went to your website and logged in so I could download the Cura settings. I'm stuck on how to add the settings but I see in the video you can just the Ender profile to start with and apply your custom settings. I'm going to try that and see how it works out. Thanks again for this great video!
My parents bought me a Ender 3 a few years back and it's been nothing but pain, the extruder snapped after 3 prints the fans stopped working, the heater clogged, had a warped bed and it skipped layers and the warrenty ended up screwing me over. Honestly I got really close to giving up on 3D printing because of it. I plan to give it another shot using my own money this time using the Odin I've heard for the most part it's an ender 3 with actual quality assurance. I'm fine with tinkering to get it to work right, I just don't want to troubleshoot the machine for three weeks fixing all the issues only for another one to pop up right as I finish.

Thanks for sharing this. I really appreciate it. The profile clearly did a better job than whatever the benchie gcode on the SD card was made with.

I printed my own models and they where very well printed in my first tries.
Wow,never been so close to clicking if a video before, never watched your videos before and thought you spoke like that all the way through, lol

How would I be able to mod to blow down from all for directions. Or where can I find the file from thingverse
Just got this for my daughter for a first printer…
Is this a 12 or 24v system? Marlin? 8bit or 32bit motherboard?
Awesome video!

Adam; do you have a pc version of your slicer program?
What worries me the most is the ribbon cable. I remember another printer had issues including it burning because of a loose connector
So far mine has held up well! And I believe a spare is provided.
Awesome giveaway Adam I would live to learn a new skill such as 3d printing.
This was awsome! I love your content. But I am going to stick to my Crealitys. I'll still keep watching your content though. Thanks!
Thank you!
Hi Adam... I just downloaded your profile, and it wouldn't import into Cura, I have the latest version.... I get a not comparable error message.....
Are you using mac or windows?
@@RCwithAdam1 Windows...
This is an undercover Ortur Obsidian , same bugs in the firmware and same design overall ... just smaller and cheaper.

How is it?
What about wifi setup?
I haven't tried that yet.
No WiFi out of the box, but it uses a standard motherboard where adding a WiFi module seemed pretty easy from what I've seen. Haven't bought it yet.
My friend, I truly appreciate what you do. We are looking for reviewers, would you like to review Longer's 3D printer & laser engraver?
You sound like Ben Wyatt
Thank you

I hear that. I think the odin5 is a good buy. It's my main printer now. It's not the best at bridging, but I need to tinker with the cura settings.
Where is this available for $280 I'll literally buy it right now. Everything I'm seeing is 350-450
I'm seeing this for $250 on the Fokoos website right now www.fokoostech.com/products/fokoos-odin-5-f3-3d-printer#looxReviews
Just got for 225 on new egg
