  • This video is about the Airbus A220. Airbus A220 is the smallest member of the Airbus family, with the A220-100 and A220-300 part of the A220 family. A220 Airbus may be the smallest Airbus, but it packs a punch. In this video about the Airbus A220, we take a look at why A220 is the perfect aircraft for airlines, and what sets the A220 apart from other aircraft. Thanks for watching this Airbus A220 video and do stay tuned to the AirplaneProductions for more great videos on the way!

And if there is a commander like Gerhard Pranke in control of the plane, then the feelings are unique and excellent during the flight. Many thanks to Canada for this great aircraft. @@marpagapal3312 I wouldn't be so sure, even the best product needs customers. If as many fear, demand is going to reduce (even for a few years) it is inevitable that some (possibly many) airlines will go to the wall. We are already seeing airlines reducing their fleets. Regardless, I (and many others too) expect there to be a significant number of aircraft of all sizes available on the second-hand market and you are going to need something which the secondhand market cannot easily supply. While Airbus has a significant order book, bankrupt airlines cannot be made to honour orders, and many of those who are able to cancel or delay will probably do so. I would be very surprised if a significant percentage of the manufacturers current order books do not fail to be delivered. We also have to remember that there are a lot of completed 737max aircraft hanging around, and not all will be going to their intended customers who are finding it easier to cancel the order where Boeing failed to fulfill their side of the contract. I am guessing that legally many of these aircraft may no longer be legally new, and presumably no longer covered by any anti-dumping legislation so could eventually offered on terms it may be difficult to ignore. I am not knocking the Airbus product line in any way, but in an uncertain market and us entering what could turn out to be the biggest recession in history, having the best product may not be enough.

    • @chingweixion621
      @chingweixion621 4 года назад

      @@neilpickup237 agree that the outlook is certainly gloomy. But then again this is where opportunities arises. AirAsia was once a bankrupt airline laden with debt and was sold to Tony Fernandes for $1.00. 10 yrs later it was a rising LCC in South East Asia enroute to be the biggest in Asia. That being said, that was prior to the Sept 11 incident where aviation was still booming.
      This time round, the post covid aviation will likely see many airlines fold and declare bankruptcy. New startup airlines will emerged to take over these orders backlog.
      The quickest way out of all these, buy off the aviation licence, liquidate the company, and restart a fresh new airline free of debt. This is just capitalism.

    a220 was a bargain for Airbus and essentially covers the market right up to a320 capacity.
    The A220-500 will almost certainly replace the A320 neo come mid decade and will feature even newer engines and perhaps more efficient wings..
    Then Airbus will be able to design a completely new NMA to replace the a321. This time they can design the aircraft specifically for this market (rather than a stretch like the a321)

    • @w8stral
      @w8stral 4 года назад

      Actually it cannibalizes a320. Now add that it is a modern composite design? Sorry, A320 is dead. Airubus just paid ~a couple Billion for the a320 succesor while Boeing has none. a321 is still alive... until another major engine upgrade, allowing greater range on this wing but that might never happen as the low hanging fruit of engine tech(geared turbofan) has already been achieved and there is essentially nothing left.

    This is the love the A220 needs, nice job! Personally I think the A319neo should be discontinued, since it did so badly, and Airbus should keep working on the A220. Great aircraft-never flown it, but I know a few people who have.
    I don’t think the stretched A220-500 will be as good for Airbus as the A320neo, despite the neo’s lack of composite materials. The A220 will be pushed to the upper limits of its designated size, while the A320neo is right at home in a way with the 180-seat market, and the A220 is the clear leader in the 120-seat area.

    • @chingweixion621
      @chingweixion621 4 года назад +1

      Airbus will most likely keep the A319neo around but they will not put in any effort to improve it beyond the current performance. This is to offer fleet commonality options to current A320 operators without adding another fleet type and increase maintenance cost.
      The Bombardier Cseries was originally designed with 2 further stretch in mind so it will definitely be well within its limits. The stretched A220-500 will mostly likely come in the mid or end of the decade (between 2025-2029) and it would serve as a replacement for the A320neo. By then the first A320neo would reach 10-12yrs of age and most A319 and A320ceo purchased after the Sept 11 recovery would be ripe for retirement. It would also likely feature newer generations of engines, maybe a 2nd gen PW GTF with even higher BPR and greater efficiency. So A220 is not just looking to be a leader in the 100-150pax segment but also likely to be a future leader in the larger 150-200pax segment.

      Actually, Bombardier will be in better financial shape it never was in the last ten years.
      The Cdn$10B sale of Bombardier Transport (Rail) has just been approved.

    C Series (A 220) is entirely a Quebec designed aircraft. Initial manufacture was at Mirabel. It was imagined and built by Bombardier. Airbus is a fairy godmother and nothing
    more, deep pockets to the rescue.
    Perhaps you need a bit of background on Bombardier and Boeing and American trade law.
    It was a combination of poor management, inappropriate sales tactics (which resulted in retaliation by Boeing) and crushing debt, that resulted in the Airbus name being
    applied to this Canadian plane. Observe the Canadian flag on the aircraft in your video.
    It is a twisted tale of woe for Bombardier which has since shed almost all it's planes and trains to concentrate on very high end business jet where it has the very best to offer.
    The A 220 has the history of a train wreck but the vision, creativity and execution of a an expert team, open to every idea and suggestion. When bombardier started planning for this aircraft,
    there wasn't really a market for it. Now, the market will come to this plane as the best choice for the new world of passenger jets.

      Hi Fabricio!
      The E195E2 (which compete with the A220-100) has a shorter range, is more cramped for passagers and need a longer strip to take off and land.
      But I agree it sells for less and has similar CASM (operating costs per seat miles) than the A220-100. So its a perfect aircraft to operate within Europe and/or for LCCs by example.
      No E2s can touch the A220-300 however. The A220-300 has a better range, has better CASM, is more comfortable for passagers etc.

The fact that Bombadier is no longer involved in manufacturing them is no reflection on the quality of the airplane. The A220 is a winner.

      There are some compromises and trade-offs that must be made by Boeing or Airbus when designing an aircraft. In contrast, Bombardier had aerospace engineers who wanted NO design compromises, and effectively engineered entire wish lists of passengers, pilots, cabin crew and airlines into this thing. The quietness, cost and fuel efficiency of the CSeries (now A220) receives almost all the attention. The public knows little about the long list of special flight capabilities of this aircraft: it will leave the ground using less runway than anything else, it will climb faster than anything else, it will make long, fast fuel-saving glides in the decent phase, handling (especially at low altitudes and speeds) and flight controls and cockpit are highly coveted by pilots. Ask pilots and airlines what kind of engineering went into this thing, and you will find out "enough to bankrupt any builder".
