Will have you thought about putting you long wooden couch in the outdoor kitchen and making stools for at least 4 then finish your kitchen sink and bring the refrigerator in the kitchen .More room and easier to take care.I keep watching and rewatching 🎉
Just a little pro tip coming from somebody who burns a fire on an every day basis in the winter and has for years. I even started with a stove just like yours. If you always keep the mindset of keeping the fire as close as possible to the door of the stove of some would say most forward of the stove. you will get less heat loss. radiated heat will be transferred to the steel of the stove more instead of shooting straight up the stove pipe an outside with the smoke. I really like your your stove pipe covered in river rock idea for thermal conductivity now you just gotta work on efficiency with your stove. Much love dawg, will be out here doing better than Surviving he’s livin 💪🏼💯 keep up the great content my guy 🤙🏼
You're exactly right and that's a good tip. I have to burn wood for heat also every winter here in northern New Mexico and I had never heard that before and actually just figured it out by accident and now I do it all the time. He's definitely learning great lessons in life and by the time he is my age (52) he will be able to do anything and everything. I have a lot of admiration and respect for Will for doing what he is doing. And I really hate when people are overly critical or mean about things that he's learning cause at least he is trying and I know he will get it.
Honestly curious for my own stove, would you still recommend this if there's a glass window on the door? I've always scooted it as far back as possible. Stove fits roughly 12-16inch logs if that matters. Only started using it in the past few years after thorough cleaning
@ yes it still applies for the most part. That’s pretty much about the stove I have now aswell. And most newer stoves have a fire baffle on the inside of the stove underneath the flue pipe smoke exit. Which purpose is to slow heat and prevent fire from being sucked right up the pipe helping with efficiency and thermal retention. Hope some of this helped. And another little dippers you don’t want any holes in your stove pipe especially not near the neck connection. It causes an obsessive draft. And you lose heat and efficiency at that point. That’s why you see most people use aluminum heat tape and or stove pipe mortar to block all the holes and seals on the stove pipes commonly right around where the pipe connects to the stove.
@UrbanHomesteader26 thank you very much for the info! Im not gonna lie I assumed it could crack the glass from heat it if was too close to the glass, good to know. These are actually pretty old stoves, roughly 50-60 years old. This house was built by my grandfather who passed years ago. Country flame if that means anything to you, I wish I knew more than I do. I do know I'm very grateful for them, the one in my livingroom will burn you out of the house, and the one downstairs does a good job of heating the floors lol.
When I was able to cut wood I had a heater almost like his I put a damper in the pipe it helped keep heat in stove wood lasted longer I miss burning a wood heater throw a pot of beans about noon have em for supper Nothing better that Beans with ham in them fried taters onion dam now I've thought of it im cooking beans now 😂
Every day life is some of the best content. It's realistic. Not every moment in life is monumental but your life is far different than the average persons.
If there is ice around your house, you can pour the ash on it to make the surface coarser. Ash is also good fertiliser and the chickens can also use it for dust baths.
Just to add to this, make sure your saving your chicken poo and bedding mix, start a composting pile. Will be the best fertilizer ever for your garden. It’s so good, you will probably have to dilute it with regular dirt.
Honestly loved seein you clean the kitchen. Little domestic things like that make it all the more real to me. As a viewer sometimes it’s easy to forget that ur really really living out there
If you can get..Put a piece of Tootsie roll Candy in a cup of hot water for just a minute to soften ..then you can mold on the mouse trap. It will return to its original texture and be stuck to the trap. the mouse will have to pull at it and not be able to grab and run..Gets the mouse everytime for me.. Always enjoy your videos! Great job!
Losing your first dog is so hard, especially when you don't know why. I lost my first dog 14 years ago & it was because of a mistake I made. I howled in pain every night for the first 5 years. It's very hard to go through.

Another great update video, Will! You may think it's not exciting content, but seeing the day to day grind of living in the woods is reality! Not having constant electricity, hot water, heat, a warm bathroom...makes people realize those are luxuries we really take for granted, and not everyone can live the way you've chosen to live!
100% it is hard work. The payoff of doing it yourself tho...would be extrordinary feeling I'm sure. I've always dreamed of doing it but never had the guts.
Poor man’s tip- put the peanut butter under the fake cheese 🤙 The lil mice have to work more to get what’s coming. I caught 32 in a weekend doing it that way

Build a double barrel stove with a shelf to set your pots on it. They put out great heat and with the collector really do a good job of using less firewood, put the ashes in a potato row. Potato's love growing in it

Mouse trap tip: build a tunnel around your traps so the critters don’t have room to activate it while there off to one side, you can also buy traps with hoods over the bait. Ladder thoughts: rope and pulley would probably be the safest way of getting it up without just man handling it. Idea about the cut out in the middle post next to your seating area: you could build a little cabinet in there for storage or drying small bits near the stove It’s always nice to see you out there surviving, keep it up bro you legend.

Will needs a double 55gal barrel stove. Would keep the chill off all night mine would burn about 12hrs with full load. Small stoves suck in his situation because they only have a 4-5hr burn. Getting up to load the stove at 3am sucks.
In regards to the mousetrap: my dad always said only put a taste (scraping) of PB on the trap. Dont leave any excess that they can sit and eat. They have a good nose and a little PB goes a long way. I've always used that advice and felt I've been pretty successful.

Ash can go in the outhouse and/or garden. It is also good to have a compost pile. Put chicken droppings and ash in a compost pile/bin to put on the garden in the spring.
If there's no food for rats, then they don't come around... Keep all food scraps off the ground and surfaces, elevate dog food, and keep the space extra clean. And when it's warm enough, strategically placed glue traps work the best.
