I'm a guitar player, not a fan of particularly bluegrass or country, and while I like Molly's music because it's great I just want to state that as a guitar player watching her play gives me the same feelings of amazed respect and inadequacy (lol) that I get from watching the likes of SRV, Hendrix, or Derek Trucks play. Like, above and beyond her being an amazing singer and songwriter, she is a once a generation talent as a player. I can't wait to see where her career goes.
Im sitting here in my pitch dark room, drinking my beer and just grinning my ass off at this amazing performance. This is the stuff that motivates you to keep pushing forward.
This is the best cross picking acoustic guitar player ever. It helps that she can sing like angel and is so very fun to watch. And then... she is a total babe.
I got tuned into Molly Tuttle by my friend showing me her cover of Olympia WA by Rancid. I'm hooked, her music has led me to a ton of other great artists I never listened to before. I'm that dreaded intermediate guitar player, the kind that non-musicians think is great, but knowing in your heart that you really are not. I want to slap myself a few years ago for thinking I was hot stuff for playing James Taylor. If you love your instrument, you should never be satisfied with your playing. Always more to learn.
I swear she's playing between 8 and 10 notes per second...if not more. I also think she's enjoying herself as much as I'm enjoying listening to and being awestruck by her sheer virtuosity. Ms. Tuttle - you are something else!
Yeah she's playing at about 160 bpm, which is 2.6 beats per second. There are four 16th notes per beat so 10.6 notes per second. And she's picking with extreme accuracy. Oh yeah, she's also singing perfectly in tune. Inhuman level of skill.
Someone's been practicing! And, yes, I've been "schooled" too! Kudos Molly! I'm a fan for life! Mine, that is! Peace be with you Girl! I'm sure you've stolen all our hearts!
Out of this world! Amazingly, as always with Molly, this virtuosic performance remains about the music and not "look at how great I play". One of the few other musicians to have accomplished such was the great Doc Watson, whose unequalled ability allowed him to always meld incredible difficulty with beauty.
She'll in my home town at the Long Island Bluegrass festival Aug 19. Can't wait to se her live. That will be 2 weeks after I see Gillian Welch from the front row at the Beacon Theater. 2017 summer is shaping up nicely.
Attended Molly’s concert in Glasgow on Sunday, amazing guitarist, every tune, including this one played note perfect. As a mediocre but keen to learn guitarist, I realise that time and dedication alone does not get guitarists to this standard, it is a gift, a rare talent. Her band were, as you would expect very good musicians, if the tickets had been two or three times the price, they would have been great value. Hope it’s not long before Molly returns to Scotland. A round of applause to the support act, one of Scotland’s own, Jill Jackson. A beautiful voice, good guitarist, and well composed songs. A great night all round.
dannyzep92 I agree 100% - this is the definitive version of this song. And Molly is the best guitarist of all time. Which will.not be clear to everyone for another 15 years.
Just looked you up, on RUclips, to hear much more. Your voice is soo sweet and wonderful and your guitar seems to have no limits! Happy to see that you and my Lindsay are friends.
I would be so happy to attain the ability to play that at about half the speed she's playing it! Still working on crosspicking wildwood flower slowly without 3 or 4 flubbs.
jeez laweez lady I got here cuz I posted the same cover but I think I'll try and take it back... your right at home there I wish one day to play half that.
I hope someday you're recognized for the great guitar player you are.
Molly Tuttle just won International Bluegrass Music Association Award as Guitar Player of the Year for 2017!!
She is!
Called it!
Her dad is the great Jack tuttle, she was killing anything with strings before she could walk.
Now 2018 as well. Molly Tuttle remaims (as I write this) the only female IBMA Guitar Player of the Year.
As impossible as it sounds, she plays it even better and faster now.
no way she plays it faster link a video

Yes Molly has absolutely freaky guitar chops but man she can SING!!!
Godamn I love the way she sings and plays this. Somewhere Townes is smilling.
Im sitting here in my pitch dark room, drinking my beer and just grinning my ass off at this amazing performance. This is the stuff that motivates you to keep pushing forward.
She's quickly becoming one of my favorite guitarists.
This is the best cross picking acoustic guitar player ever. It helps that she can sing like angel and is so very fun to watch. And then... she is a total babe.
Jesus...the speed and control of that right hand of hers is frikkin staggering even for bluegrass music. Respect girl
holy crap this is one of the best flatpicking videos i've ever seen
The guitar was a mere pile of ashes once molly laid it down
So good, it's just stupid. Absolutely amazing. Could not stop smiling

That is high class picking, great stuff...
Crazy ❤
Molly is my favorite Picker her style and songwriting are amazing.
Apparently 8 people dont appreciate a good woman with actual dedication and skill I can't play like that 🤗
This girl is completely off the planet! She's an acoustic shredder who sings at the same time! You can't get any better than that!
I swear she's playing between 8 and 10 notes per second...if not more. I also think she's enjoying herself as much as I'm enjoying listening to and being awestruck by her sheer virtuosity. Ms. Tuttle - you are something else!

I've seen both well worth every penny.she's playing this weekend 403 miles from here a 7 hour drive, and I'm still thinking about going.
watch out world. molly tuttle is coming to town. just fantastic!!!!
Love this 1 4 5 blues chord progression mixed with the very fast blue grass style picking.
this is so infinitely more impressive to me than metal shred guitar
My face is melted. You rock so hard.
I’ve watched this so many times. I wish she would record this! She goes off on this, great guitar playing.

She is the best!! And this version is stellar. And by far my personal favorite.
